Chapter 369: Chapter 369: A Lousy Factory Director

Su Shuochi, of course, didn’t know what Mr. Geng was thinking. "Elder Geng, thank you for your help this time."

"It was nothing. Besides, I’m indebted to you and your wife for saving my son before. Not to mention, your wife had Xiao Zhi bring Health Pills for my son and me on two occasions."

"Uncle Geng is a good friend of my father-in-law. We happened to be there, so we couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. Please don’t worry about it."

Hearing Su Shuochi’s humble words, a rare smile appeared on Elder Geng’s stern face as he looked at the handsome young man beside him.

He was quite impressed. "Comrade Xiao Su, now that your leg has healed, it’s time for you to report back to your unit."

"Yes, my wife says I need to train for another three months to get back to how I was before."

Su Shuochi said this with an excited expression, but inwardly, he was calm. His body was even healthier now than before his injury.

Ever since many famous doctors had declared his leg had no hope of recovery, he had never imagined he would one day have the chance to return to the military.

His leg was recovered now, but he had many other things to attend to.

These matters forced him to delay his return to his unit. Once he went back, he would have to prioritize his work.

’He couldn’t possibly abandon everything in the army to take frequent leave and come home to be with his wife, could he?’

Elder Geng noticed the indifference on Su Shuochi’s face and sighed. "Little Su, what if you don’t want to go back to the army? I can arrange another job for you."

Su Shuochi shook his head and said earnestly, "I love the army. I just have to wait for my leg to fully recover before I can return to my unit."

"Alright, then go back after you’ve made a full recovery." Mr. Geng patted Su Shuochi’s shoulder.

Su Shuochi smiled and nodded. "Yes, I definitely won’t let down Elder Geng’s expectations for me."

"Little Su, bring your wife over to my place for a casual meal sometime." Elder Geng patted Su Shuochi’s shoulder again and turned to leave.

"Of course. I’ve been wanting to visit you and Uncle Geng for a while, but Jiaojiao has been busy."

Su Shuochi respectfully walked him a long way. If Elder Geng hadn’t personally intervened, they wouldn’t have been able to handle the paperwork so smoothly.

"Su, where are we going now?" Fu Junyuan darted out from somewhere after Elder Geng had left.

"It’s almost time for lunch. We’ll go buy groceries and head home to cook. We can eat once your sister-in-law gets back."

"You got it."

Gu Jiaojiao was still at the hospital. First, she ran a blood test for Mu Ziquan. There were no longer any toxins in his system.

’This was about what she expected. After all, the spiritual spring water from her space could cure a hundred poisons.’

’She had cured the Sheng Family’s eldest cousin’s incredibly difficult-to-treat poison with just half a bowl of spiritual spring water.’

Meanwhile, Xia Qiuming was helping Mu Ziquan with a full-body examination. The room was fully equipped with all necessary instruments and facilities.

Most of the instruments had never been seen in any of China’s other top-tier hospitals. One could say it was currently the only set of such equipment in the country.

Some of the test results would only be available the next day, so Xia Qiuming didn’t know yet when would be a suitable time for Mu Ziquan’s surgery.

After the examination, Gu Jiaojiao administered silver needles to Mu Ziquan right there in the medical room, not wanting the hassle of going back and forth.

By the time she removed the silver needles, it would be about time for lunch. Xia Qiuming wanted to have them stay and eat the hospital’s staff meal.

"No, thank you. Mu Ziquan’s body needs proper nutrition. His family has a private chef who specializes in cooking and making nourishing soups. Besides, my Shu Ci has probably finished making lunch at home by now."

"I’ll call you tomorrow when Mu Ziquan’s test results are out," Xia Qiuming said as he walked them out.

"Alright. If there are no other issues, we’ll schedule the surgery for next Sunday."

Fu Mingyue and Second Aunt Jiang had found out that Gu Jiaojiao’s group hadn’t left the hospital yet. They were hiding in the shadows, originally planning to beat Gu Jiaojiao up to vent their frustration.

But seeing their own Vice Director personally escorting them out, they didn’t dare to come out and cause trouble, which made them so angry they stomped their feet.

Fu Mingyue, in particular, was so frustrated she wanted to use her fat paws to rip out all her hair.

When they noticed Gu Jiaojiao’s gaze land on them, they hopped on the spot a couple of times in a rage.

Gu Jiaojiao had argued with those two women earlier, but they were the ones facing punishment, either being fired or receiving a major demerit.

So, when Gu Jiaojiao saw them hopping mad, she didn’t go over to provoke them. She wasn’t one to sweat the small stuff; besides, she hadn’t suffered any loss.

But Fu Mingyue and Second Aunt Jiang were not as magnanimous as she was. They gnashed their teeth in hatred.

At the same time, it made them keenly aware of the gap between themselves and those two young men.

"That cripple and Vice Director Xia, two young men, both have the power to get us fired just by saying the word. It’s infuriating!"

Seeing that Xia Qiuming had already escorted Gu Jiaojiao and the cripple downstairs, Fu Mingyue grumbled resentfully to Second Aunt Jiang.

’Just you wait! I will make a comeback.’

’As for how to do it, it certainly wouldn’t be through any legitimate means.’

’She would definitely find an ideal son-in-law for her daughter, someone from a family of high power and status.’

’That way, she could make her comeback. And the first thing she’d do after that would be to crush everyone who had bullied her today.’

"Your Ru Yan is so lucky to be able to marry such an outstanding man like my eldest brother."

Second Aunt Jiang was half-dead with anger after hearing Fu Mingyue’s words. ’What’s so great about her eldest brother? He’s just some lousy factory director!’

’She really didn’t want her daughter to marry an old man who was two years older than she was.’

’The main point was, the official in the Fu family was the fourth brother, not the eldest. What did that son-in-law of hers have going for him besides his age!’

She said slyly, "Doctor Fu, why don’t you marry your daughter to that cripple? He’s the only heir to the Mu Family, and he’s a cripple at that. Wouldn’t everything the Mu Family has become yours then?"

"No way! My daughter is an absolute beauty. How could she possibly marry a cripple!" Fu Mingyue rejected the idea without a second thought.

Gu Jiaojiao had sharp hearing and overheard the two women’s barbed whispers as clear as day.

She snarked internally: ’That woman isn’t much to look at, but her dreams sure are pretty. As if Mu Ziquan would definitely marry her daughter just because she wants him to.’

’Only incompetent people indulge in such fantasies. Truly capable people are often very self-disciplined.’

’Capable people hold themselves to very high standards and are tolerant and kind towards others.’

’In contrast, those with no ambition and poor character tend only to pick at the faults of others while indulging their own whims without restraint.’

’Take those two women from just now. When things go wrong, they never reflect on their own mistakes. Every time they open their mouths, it’s to blame and complain about others.’

’To put it bluntly, people like them are extreme egoists.’

’They only see themselves and feel that everything they do is right. Anything wrong or bad is always someone else’s fault.’

’If they’re late for work, they don’t reflect on waking up too late; they complain about the traffic.’

’If they get caught slacking off at work by a supervisor, they don’t reflect on their lack of effort; they complain that the supervisor is too harsh.’

Gu Jiaojiao pretended not to have heard them. Once Mu Ziquan’s two bodyguards helped him into the car, she quickly got in as well and shut the door.

Mu Ziquan thought she was just eager to get home, so he instructed his driver, "Take the lady home first, then we’ll head back."
