Chapter 50: Chapter 50. Special?

Aiden was clad in his crimson armor, eyes crimson. His crimson scythe gleamed with otherworldly malevolence.

He moved with lethal precision. His scythe was like an extension of himself.

Aiden’s scythe cleaved through one wendigo after another, his speed and movements bordering beyond what his teammates could muster.

If one observed him closely, all they would see was a crimson phantom moving across the blood-covered snow with a crimson blade twirling across in his hand.

Each slice caused a dull thud to resound.

Each cleave caused a snarling wendigo to fall.

He did not give the wendigos opportunities to even launch attacks. He was there before they moved. He arrived before they could attack.

And when he did, limbs flew. Heads rolled.

Innards spilled.

Bodies fell.

Blood splurged.

Aiden was simply... untouchable.

At the same time, he was absorbing the blood essence of every fallen wendigo on the battlefield.

This was what made Aiden dangerous. While others would grow weaker the more they fought, and would need to rest to regain their stamina, because of his unique cultivation, he thrived on the battlefield. The more deaths on the battlefield, the more blood essence he could absorb, and the more powerful he would become.

Aiden was getting faster, more precise, and lethal with each strike.

At the same time, Aiden was personally shocked.

Through his ability to scan across, he noticed his teammates fighting the wendigos.

"These guys are monsters," Aiden thought as his scythe cleaved through an approaching ball of condensed darkness from a wendigo and sliced through the wendigo.

His teammates were geniuses in their own right.

They could hold their weight.

"How the hell are these guys not high on the rankings?" Aiden thought.

A glint of realization flashed through his eyes.

"They spend their contribution points on training resources. After all, the Heavenly Ascension ranking list can be misleading. It is not a true measure of one’s strength."

Soon, the place was silent.

The group of six stood in the midst of the dead bodies of the Wendigos. The once white snowy fields had been stained deep crimson.

"He actually killed 80 intermediate rank 1 wendigos on his own?" Luke looked at Aiden, facing the distance with his crimson scythe in his hand.

"If you don’t get used to this guy’s monstrous nature, I don’t think you will have peace of mind till we leave this pocket world," Asmodeus patted Luke’s back.

"As if you are not shocked yourself," Seraphina snorted at Asmodeus.

"Lovers’ quarrel?" Candice teased Asmodeus and Seraphina.

"Enough jokes, guys," Luke said. "Let’s dig out the energy cores and keep the corpses."

Everyone nodded.

Desmonda looked towards where Aiden was standing.

He was still facing the distance.

She narrowed her eyes slightly and walked up to him.

"Hey," she said.

Aiden turned to look at her.

"Yeah. What’s up?"

"You okay?" Desmonda asked. "You seem tense."

"Yeah, I’m fine," Aiden replied. "Something seems off."

"This pocket world... when we first arrived, we discovered a basilisk. Now, we discover Wendigos here," Aiden said.

"From what is generally documented on pocket worlds, it’s not everyday that a pocket world has more than one kind of unique chaotic beast," Aiden added.

"Are you saying..." Desmonda caught on.

"Yes... Some research schools of thought indicate that most of the time, pocket worlds that have more than one kind of unique chaotic beasts, naturally turn out to be special pocket worlds," Aiden added.

"Then that means thinning the population density may not be our way out of here," Desmonda added.

"We need to find out the factor needed to close the gate. We should focus on finding any of the indices of a special pocket world. At the same time, we can also focus on killing chaotic beasts as much as we can. That way, if thinning the population density is the way out of here, we can work towards that too," Aiden added.

Desmonda nodded.

" Let’s inform the others" Desmonda said.

" Yeah" Aiden replied.

"Aiden, since you killed more of them than everyone, how about you take more than half?" Luke shouted from behind, after the group was done arranging the corpses and taking out the energy cores.

"I have more than enough money for now. And it’s not like I really need the energy cores and bodies for anything. Also, it’s not like I’ll have time when I get back to sell the corpses to the Warriors’ Association anyway," Aiden thought.

He had realized that keeping the corpses of creatures killed and selling them to the warriors association was a waste of time.

After absorbing their blood essence, they were of no use to him.

He could use the time he visited the Warriors Association to sell corpses, to kill creatures and absorb blood essence to grow stronger.

Plus, as he ranked up, his weekly warrior stipend would increase too. That was also a way of making more money.

"You guys keep them. Also there’s something to discuss," Aiden replied politely.

"He must have made a lot of money from hunting a lot of creatures in the danger zones," they thought.

The group divided the rest of the corpses among themselves and kept them in their storage bags.

After that, Aiden and Desmonda told them what they had discussed.

The group agreed to the plan.

Luke used his light affinity to restore those who were a bit injured from the earlier fight back to peak health.

The group looked around them.

They were no longer in a mountainous region anymore.

Icy forests were up ahead.

The group entered the forest after Aiden confirmed that the threats ahead were nothing they could not handle.

They entered the gloomy icy forest.

They came across several intermediate rank 1 chaotic beasts. The group swiftly killed them and proceeded. As for Aiden, he would absorb the blood essence of any creature killed by anyone in the group. He did not personally act to kill any creature. He focused entirely on leading the group to navigate the forest.

The group kept traveling through the forest with Aiden serving as the scout and the one offering directions on where they should pass and where to avoid.

His ability to scan across the perimeter was very helpful to the group.

Suddenly, Aiden squinted his eyes and motioned for the group to stop moving.
