Chapter 2213: I Told You
Tang Shaoyang remembered Commander Edson. There was no way he would forget someone who tried to steal his precious material from him. However, he didn’t really remember that much about Royal Knight Amaro.
Amaro was left speechless as he realized that Tang Shaoyang truly didn’t remember him. It was the complete opposite for him because he could not forget the multi-headed dragon he met.
He exchanged greetings with them, chatting for a little. The atmosphere was quite awkward. Edson parted ways on bad terms, so it was awkward that he suddenly acted close to Tang Shaoyang.
Tang Shaoyang didn’t recognize Amaro, and that already made it awkward between them. The conversation was so short that they left after telling him to enjoy the party. From their short conversation, it seemed the two were not aware of why he was here.
After the two, more commanders from the allied force that defended against Thomas Lysvand’s assault approached him one by one. They received the invitation because of their contribution in that battle. He only remembered a few names, but it was less awkward.
Tang Shaoyang thought that was how the party would go until the end, until a man who looked to be in his late twenties came to their table and asked for Jasmine for a dance.
It was nothing at first, as it was common to ask for a girl to dance at the party, but it kept happening to both Ava and Jasmine. No one asked for Clementine or Valeria to dance. It became too obvious that he was being targeted.
Tang Shaoyang stayed silent for a while, but Arion could tell a storm brewing in Tang Shaoyang’s eyes. The Essence of Tranquility Breathing truly helped him to hold back. However, there were already more than ten men who asked Jasmine and Ava for a dance.
Their voices were not loud, but clear enough for the people in the surroundings to hear them. Just when the man who asked Ava to dance retreated, another man came up to Jasmine.
This time, Tang Shaoyang looked up at Clementine, "If you are not going to do anything about this, then there will be no talk between the Hurakan Kingdom and me. Because I am going to kill every single man that has come up to me!"
It was a party to celebrate the King of Hurakan Kingdom’s birthday, a joyous occasion. The moment the word kill echoed in the hall, the party went silent. Only the melodious music played in the background.
The man who was about to ask Jasmine for a dance froze. But he quickly regained his composure, but before he could utter a single word, a sigh echoed, which was followed by a dreadful aura.
The man fell on his knees instantly, without being able to fight back. The moment Clementine released her aura, the guard rushed in, surrounding the table. However, none of them could get closer to the table because of Clementine’s aura.
Clementine clicked her tongue. She was trying to come up with a way to stop this mess, but Tang Shaoyang’s patience thinned out faster before she could come up with anything.
She wiped her mouth and slowly got from the seat. The same Captain Guard who stopped Tang Shaoyang recognized Clementine, but he didn’t waver, "Cease your aura—"
Before he finished his sentence, Clementine flicked her finger in his direction. His armor bent inwardly, followed by a crunching noise. His eyes bulged as it was followed by an excruciating pain on his abdomen.
The captain guard was on his knees, clutching the spot where his armor was crushed. Before he could proceed, another crunch resounded, which was followed by even more pain on his back. It forced him to lie flat on the floor, breaking the tiles, which caused a commotion.
"Since you can’t discipline your own people, I will do it myself!"
Clementine arrived in front of the man who tried to ask Jasmine for a dance, "Who’s behind you? You’d better be smart because this situation might blow up so big that a mere henchman like you can’t handle it."
Arion let out a sigh and stood up, "In the end, you are no different than him."
He thought Clementine would handle it differently from Tang Shaoyang, but it was literally the same. The difference was that the man was still alive, while if it were Tang Shaoyang, this man would not be alive by now.
"You and whoever is behind you are trying to humiliate an Executive Administrator. Can I assume this is the Hurakan Kingdom’s intention to fight the Administrator?"
Just like Clementine said, the man was just a henchman. He was just following the order. The reason why Clementine didn’t smash his head right away was that.
"You are exaggerating things, Executive Administrator Arion."
A calm voice echoed as the crowd split into two, and six people came over. They easily entered Clementine’s aura without being pressured. However, Clementine increased her aura further, and the six people in red attire with golden embroidery and ornaments on their chests halted their steps.
Their attire was more like a uniform than an attire for a party. It meant they were part of the officials of the Hurakan Kingdom if they attended the party with that. As Jasmine, a noble, a party was a place to show off, and they were showing off their official status.
The fact that the nobles got away from them was a sign that they held a high position in the Hurakan Kingdom. Through the murmur from the crowd, their status was indeed high in the kingdom. They were the Imperial Investigators.
If the Royal Knight was the King’s guard, the Imperial Investigator was the King’s weapon. They were in charge of investigating and getting rid of the corrupt nobles. They were dreaded by the nobles.
"The Hurakan Kingdom doesn’t wish to repeat the dark history. How can you come up with such a conclusion just because a man asked a woman for a dance?"
The man who led the group asked with a smile.
"I told you. They will come up with such useless and petty tricks. This is why I don’t want to come here," Tang Shaoyang directed his words to Arion.
The way the Executive Administrator treated him during the meeting was just an excuse. This was the reason why Tang Shaoyang didn’t want to visit the Hurakan Kingdom. He didn’t want to repeat this pointless sequence, again and again.
They would do stupid things to provoke him, and he would fall for it. That would create a justification for them to make a move against him. That was just something he encountered multiple times.
"You ensured this would not happen, even giving me dragon eggs. Yet it happens."
Being reminded of his dragon eggs, it annoyed Arion even more, "These people have grown complacent because no one dares to provoke them. Now they think they are untouchable..."
"What are you talking about, Executive Administrator Arion? It’s just a misunderstanding. This is just our culture. How can you interpret this as the kingdom tries to provoke the Administrator?"
"The ladies can just refuse the invitation, no? It’s not a big deal."
Arion completely ignored them. Of course, he would not buy those words. He exchanged glances with Clementine, and both nodded.
"Since you want to play a petty game, then let’s play your game!"
The Imperial Investigator didn’t understand what it meant, but he had a bad feeling about this. He didn’t think that the other Executive Administrator would react this way when he only targeted Tang Shaoyang.
He heard that the relationship between the Executive Administrators was not that close. They would not stand for each other like this, let alone escalating the issue.
He didn’t know what Arion and Clementine did, but he saw through their hand gestures that they were communicating, maybe sending messages or something.
He realized that he must do something to stop this, but then another pressure joined. A powerful aura filled with authority spread out in the hall.
"What’s the meaning of this, Clementine? Are you going to cause trouble at my party?"
Everyone in the hall was on their knees, kneeling in a direction.
"Don’t bother with this stupid formality! Tell me what happens here!?"
The King was supposed to come out a little bit later, but he had to come out earlier because he sensed Clementine’s aura. Even with his aura, he could not get rid of Clementine’s aura in the party hall.
At the same time, the King observed the hall. He saw that one of his guards was flat on the floor. He could tell in a single glance it was Clementine’s doing. Then his eyes moved toward the table for the Administrator.
He recognized Valeria, who was still holding a glass of wine in her hand. Then his eyes fell on Tang Shaoyang and the two women next to him.
This was their first meeting, but he recognized Tang Shaoyang from the picture. A man with an intricate relationship with his kingdom.
This man saved his people from the Void Cult, but he also killed his people and held their spirits as well.
"You’d better have a good explanation for this, Clementine!"
