Chapter 2212: Party
"I told you to use their teleportation instead. I really hate it when people point their weapon at me!" Baba took out his invitation letter and handed it to the captain guard. Valeria and Tang Shaoyang also delivered the invitation with their energy into the guard’s hand.
The captain gave a quick check of the first three invitations, which belonged to Arion, Baba, and Valeria. When it came to Tang Shaoyang’s invitation, there was a pause from the captain guard.
It was the same invitation, with a different name attached, yet the captain guard called one of his people over. They even used a silent barrier so their conversation could not be heard.
Arion’s expression was dead serious and locked on the captain guard’s lips. The smile completely disappeared as the captain guard returned. Before the captain guard could say anything, Arion spoke first.
"Don’t do it! We come under your King’s request, and if you try to play a game with me. I will make you, your family, and the people behind you taste what hell is!"
He finally managed to persuade Tang Shaoyang to come at a cost, yet the Hurakan Kingdom’s people tried to play a trick on Tang Shaoyang. He could predict what Tang Shaoyang would do.
Tang Shaoyang would not play along and left without meeting the king. Meanwhile, he had given the eggs. He had to make the sacrifice, yet some people tried to ruin it. It annoyed him. They came under their request, yet they still tried to play this dirty trick.
"Your King will be glad and grateful to me for removing rotten apples like you guys."
The captain guard swallowed a mouthful of saliva. He indeed received an instruction from the Imperial Investigator to create an excuse to pull Tang Shaoyang away from the party. But now he was under an Executive Administrator’s threat.
He was a bit careless and thought things would go smoothly just because they were in the heart of the Hurakan Kingdom. No one dared to make a ruckus in the Hurakan Kingdom, especially on today’s occasion. But the Executive Administrator was a different kind of breed. There was a reason why they were called lunatics.
The guard captain glanced toward Baba, who was annoyed. Valeria looked interested, and the target, Tang Shaoyang, was smirking at him. He truly felt uneasy and realized it might be a bad idea to proceed with the order. Even though he knew that he would be grilled by the Imperial Investigator, it was better than having the issue escalate to something he could not control.
He raised his right hand to his subordinates to lower their weapons and handed back the invitation to Tang Shaoyang, and allowed them to enter the castle.
Tang Shaoyang was a bit disappointed inside, but he kept it to himself. If only the guard acted out, he could make an excuse to return and have a blissful night with his wives instead.
He walked with his wives on his side. They became the center of attention because of what happened, but the attention quickly shifted to his wives and Valeria. It seemed not many people knew Valeria’s face for them to blatantly stare at her.
"This is my first time attending a noble party, so how does it usually go?" Tang Shaoyang asked.
This was technically not the first, but this was the first time he attended the noble party properly. Usually, he would just do whatever he wanted, but it was clear that he could not do it here. So he asked his wives who had the experience.
"The noble party is a social event. This is the place for you to show off or climb the ladder. That’s easiest to describe a noble party."
Jasmine answered straightforwardly. A party was just a social gathering to broaden your connection, and she could tell that his husband didn’t have such an interest. That was why she and Ava were chosen to accompany him.
Ava didn’t like the noble party as well. The discomfort on Ava’s face was clear when people stared at her body with lust. It was supposed to be Viona, who was also a former noble, but Viona was currently taking the Trial of Demi-God. Jasmine was used to this kind of stare, so she was no longer bothered.
"What are you talking about? Are you trying to leave this party as soon as possible?" Arion could not hear because of the soundproofing that Jasmine had put on. He could forcefully break it, but it would be rude of him. However, he was afraid that Tang Shaoyang was plotting to leave the party early before meeting the King. That would be a problem.
"Just so you know, you can’t return until you meet the King. Or else I am going to take my eggs back!"
Tang Shaoyang rolled his eyes, shrugging, "Just make sure to repel the bugs away from me, and I have no reason to leave. You know it, the moment I have the excuse, I will leave right away!"
They entered the hall together, and a familiar voice chimed in.
"You can’t leave until you meet the King!" The voice carried a pressure and authority that bothered Ava and Jasmine.
It was Clementine who waited at the entrance. The vampire wore a red dress that matched her eyes, and she was a top beauty if she could put a smile on her beautiful face. Alas, her expressionless face was a turn-off. When she smiled, her smile radiated a dangerous vibe that scared people.
"Oh, I can if I have the excuse. Just make sure I don’t find the excuse," Tang Shaoyang winked at Arion.
Clementine frowned and turned toward Arion, asking what had happened. Arion told her through a message, and the frown deepened after reading the message.
She was confused at first why the people of the Hurakan Kingdom tried to play such a trick on the person they wanted to meet. Soon, she remembered that Tang Shaoyang had a dispute with the Hurakan Kingdom when he was stationed to guard the Void Gate.
Tang Shaoyang killed the Imperial Investigator, and then he took Thomas Lysvand’s body as well, which became a dispute. It seemed the Hurakan Kingdom’s upper echelon tried to establish its authority over Tang Shaoyang.
Clementine looked at Tang Shaoyang, then she let out a sigh. If that happened, it was indeed better for Tang Shaoyang to leave than to escalate the conflict. But then her eyes fell on the two women next to Tang Shaoyang.
"You are more humane than I thought."
Tang Shaoyang didn’t understand what it meant, nor did he try to understand. He just shrugged and followed Clementine to a table she had prepared for them. She wanted to make sure that he didn’t cause trouble.
"I am glad I decided to attend the party, or this might be annoying." She was muttering by herself, and again, Tang Shaoyang said nothing in response.
The party went just like Jasmine told him. It was more like a social gathering for the nobles. There was no real event or anything. The nobles were roaming freely with a drink in their hand, talking with their fellow nobles.
Tang Shaoyang remained in his seat with his wives. The only time he left the table was to get food. Knowing their husband was foody, they had been helping to get all kinds of varieties of food, which again attracted the attention of the Hurakan Kingdom’s nobles.
No one recognized Tang Shaoyang, but to be invited, he must be someone influential. People didn’t try to talk with him because of his antics, the three plates of food on his table.
Arion and Valeria were appreciating the drinks, completely ignoring the stares. Clementine enjoyed the bloody steak that was specially prepared for her, and Baba was the only one who looked annoyed and decided to leave the table afterward.
"We finally met again!"
Tang Shaoyang heard a voice from behind. He thought it was directed toward him, but then he remembered that he didn’t know anyone from the Hurakan Kingdom. He might be wrong, so he ignored it until the voice resounded once more.
"I am talking to you, Chief Administrator Tang Shaoyang! I guess we should hire Executive Administrator Tang Shaoyang now."
When his name was called out, he turned around only then. He saw two familiar faces, but again, he didn’t really remember them.
"You truly have forgotten about us." The man to the right said in disbelief.
"We met when you were stationed in our Void Gate. I am Edson, once I am your Commander!"
Only then did Tang Shaoyang remember the man. It was the commander in charge of protecting the Void Gate back then. He also remembered how this man tried to go back on his promise to give him all the Void Creature’s corpse and tried to take away the most valuable material from him, the Emperor, Thomas Lysvand."
"And I am Amaro, the Royal Knight of the Hurakan Kingdom. We met after the battle!"
