Chapter 150: I’ll take care of these just fine
Hana walked into the tunnel space alone and her men did not try to stop her. Ren looked a little anxious but when he saw that neither Caspian or Kulu or Raiden were objecting to it, he simply steeled his heart and decided to trust her.
As soon as she stepped in, the heavy metal doors pulled shut behind her with a loud, deep thud to lock out the freezing mountain air, the staring crowd and her watching mates.
"Let’s get this over with." She muttered to herself.
Walking past the main entrance, she raised her hand toward the rows of high-tech supply crates and activated her system inventory.
In an instant, a digital type of light swept across the room and the massive crates vanished one by one, sucked directly into her digital storage space.
As she moved deeper into the bunker, she walked toward the section where the large hole had been made in the wall. The door on this side was completely locked.
She looked at the titanium bolt and wondered if the snow leopards couldn’t have used force to break it open from the other side or if they just feared they would anger the gods of the shrine and left it as it is.
She slid back the heavy bolt and opened the door. The air suddenly turned freezing cold. The mountain wind howled through the massive hole, coating the floor in thick frost.
Hana looked around the raided section. Most of the crates here were completely wide open and empty. The snow leopards had already stripped this area bare, stealing whatever clothes, or tools they could claw their way into.
But as Hana walked deeper into the cold room, her eyes fell on a few heavy boxes sitting untouched in the corner.
The snow leopards must’ve had tried to open them given how the heavy metal surfaces were covered in deep, jagged scratch marks and dents where desperate warriors had thrown everything they had against the containers.
But they hadn’t managed to leave a single crack.
These specific boxes were locked tight in solid titanium.
Hana stepped closer, her system immediately scanning the contents of the sealed boxes and a warning screen popped up in her vision.
> [CAUTION: HIGH-EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DETECTED]
> Contents: Military-Grade Fragmentation Grenades (Active)
> Note: These are not non-lethal smoke canisters. Misuse will result in immediate facility structural failure and total loss of life.
Hana let out a small, dry huff through her nose. The snow leopards had probably assumed these boxes contained more food or simple smoke grenades like the ones they had used the day before.
If they had actually managed to break through the titanium and play around with what was inside, the entire mountain peak would have blown up. They all would have been dead.
They had no idea how lucky they were that their primitive claws couldn’t scratch titanium.
With a simple thought, Hana extended her hand toward the locked titanium boxes. The system flashed, and the heavy crates vanished instantly into her inventory, securing the dangerous weapons safely away from the primitive tribe.
"I’ll take care of these just fine," she muttered to herself.
The room was completely cleared now and there was nothing left to plumage.
Turning away from the freezing wind blowing through the hole, Hana walked back toward the main bunker entrance to rejoin her mates.
Meanwhile, outside, the snow leopards were busy whispering loudly about how the female had really opened the doors of their sacred shrine.
"She... she really opened it," one of the older snow leopard warriors whispered, his voice trembling as he took a step back. "The sacred doors haven’t ever moved no matter the generation..."
"Did you see what she pulled out of thin air?" A female whispered, hiding behind a larger male. "She is a monster... or a god."
Brenda’s jaw tightened. The crushing weight of jealousy, fear, and utter humiliation was making it hard for her to breathe.
She had spent all morning trying to make Mina feel small, telling everyone that Ren was a traitor and that his family should be thrown out into the snow to freeze. But now, Hana had just promised Mina a life of luxury in a giant fortress with heaters, and endless food.
Even worse, Hana had openly shamed Brenda in front of the whole tribe, looking at her like she was an annoying bug before offering Mina the chance of a lifetime.
Brenda looked over at Mina, who was now standing safely behind Ren’s massive striped shoulders. Mina wasn’t looking at the tribe with anger or smugness. She just stood there with a calm, sensible face, her chin held high, totally under the protection of her brother.
"This isn’t fair..." Brenda hissed under her breath, her fists clenching so hard her claws dug into her palms. "She’s just a useless female from a broken family. Why does she get to leave this freezing mountain? Why does she get to go to a fortress?"
Caspian heard the faint hiss. The scales on his neck flared slightly as his sharp, slit-pupil eyes locked right onto Brenda. He let out a low, vibrating growl that shook the very air in Brenda’s lungs.
"Keep your mouth shut, female," Caspian warned, his voice deep and lethal. "If your eyes or your tongue offend my mate, I will personally tear this mountain peak apart, and your tribe will have no ground left to stand on."
Brenda clamped her mouth shut instantly, dropping her eyes to the snow, her chest heaving with terror.
The loud whispers of the snow leopard tribe died down instantly and in that moment, the heavy titanium doors began to open again with a deep groan.
Every single eye locked onto the widening gap.
Through the thick, swirling mist of the climate-controlled bunker, Hana walked out smoothly. Her posture was completely relaxed, her hands empty, simply resting on the curve of her belly, and her face completely blank.
To the tribe, she looked like she had just taken a casual stroll through a sacred shrine. She must’ve done something.
Ren stepped closest to her, his icy blue eyes scanning her from head to toe to make sure she didn’t have a single scratch. Seeing her completely unharmed, the tension in his broad shoulders finally melted away.
He let out a heavy, ragged breath he hadn’t realized he was holding. This was just like that time she went into the bunkers in the crimson court courtyard and came out empty handed but she seemed content, like she got everything she wanted.
He believed that she had taken it all, though he doesn’t know how.
"I have opened it, like I said I would," Hana said, her flat, clear voice cutting through the silent, freezing mountain air. She didn’t look at the chiefs, nor did she acknowledge the shaking warriors. She simply threw a cold, sweeping glance across the crowd. "And I have taken exactly what I wanted."
Brenda, still nursing her bruised ego near the tree line, couldn’t take it anymore. The sight of Mina standing safely behind her brother, combined with Hana’s effortless arrogance, made her blood boil. Forgetting Caspian’s lethal threat for a split second, she took a desperate step forward.
"You can’t just leave with our sacred treasures!" Brenda shrieked, her voice cracking with a mix of terror and jealousy. "Chief! Are we really just going to let an outsider walk away with the blessings of the gods? She is robbing us! She is stealing from the tribe!"
A collective, terrified gasp went through the snow leopards. Several warriors immediately jumped back, trying to distance themselves from Brenda as if she had just invited a lightning strike.
Raiden’s sharp emerald eyes snapped toward her. His nine tails flared out behind him in a massive, overwhelming fan, their pink fur bristling with dangerous, swirling power. The sheer pressure of the fox’s aura as his eyes slowly turned crimson forced the closest warriors to drop to their knees.
"Robbing you?" Raiden sneered, his voice vibrating with pure malice. Beside him, Kulu’s amber eyes narrowed, his massive red wings flaring open as his red hair whipped in the sudden gust of wind, ready to take flight and tear the clearing apart.
Caspian stepped up right next to Hana, his throat slowly glowing orange as he prepared to set the whole place ablaze if they so much as step in Hana’s path. He let out a low, vibrating rumble that shook the valley.
"Everything on these planes belongs to our mate if she commands it. If you speak another word to her, I will personally tear this mountain peak apart."
Brenda choked on her own breath, completely overwhelmed by the terrifying sight of the nine-tailed fox, the red-winged falcon, and the black dragon all locking onto her at once.
She stumbled backward, tripping over her own feet, and fell flat onto the hard, frozen ground. She clapped her hands over her mouth, sobbing silently in absolute terror.
Hana didn’t even blink at the drama. She rested a hand on the prominent curve of her stomach, entirely unbothered by the crying female.
"We are done here," Hana said flatly to her mates, completely ignoring the ruined tribe. "Mina, grab what little you have. We are leaving for New Eden right now."
"Yes, milady," she said and began to scurry away.
"I will go with her," Ren said, his aim to make sure that no beast tried to attack his sister when she was by herself.
Hana nodded and looked back at the crowd.
"Now, who and who was it that had a problem with me taking something from the bunker?" she asked, her eyes glazing over maliciously. "First, you’re going to show me proof that I did take something and then... we can talk."
