Chapter 149: Make a choice, Mina

Given how fiercely protective Ren had been of his family, Hana fully expected him to give an immediate, resounding yes.

Instead, Ren paused, his icy blue eyes softening with a deep, complex warmth as he looked at Mina.

"That decision is entirely up to my sister to make, Hana," Ren replied softly, his voice steady. He turned his gaze to Hana, his expression filled with absolute respect for the household hierarchy. "And more than that... I would need your permission to bring her along. She is an adult now, at an age where she needs to find her own path, find her mates, and start her own family. It isn’t as simple as me making decisions for her anymore."

He let out a low, heavy sigh, his black-striped tail giving a tense flick against the snow. "But selfishly... I would really like her to come with us. I want to keep an eye on her and ensure her safety, especially now that the tribe has chosen to view me as an enemy. Leaving her here alone worries me."

Hana looked back at the isolated girl. Mina seemed like a thoroughly sensible, unpretentious person—very much like her brother.

And looking down at the prominent, solid curve of her own stomach, Hana made a rare, calculated concession. With her pregnancy accelerating rapidly, there were bound to be small, domestic tasks she would eventually want help with. Her four powerful mates were more than capable, but having a loyal female helper around the house wouldn’t be a bad asset.

Besides, Mina would undeniably have a vastly superior life in the high-tech safety of New Eden compared to this frozen, spiteful mountain. She might even find her other half among the growing population there.

"She’s coming with us," Hana stated flatly, her mind made up. "I’ll handle this."

Ren looked at her, surprised. Hana would do this... For him?

He felt deeply touched.

The air around the clearing grew incredibly heavy. As Hana changed direction, her four mates moved smoothly to stand around her like a solid wall. They let out a scary, dangerous pressure that made the freezing mountain wind feel almost warm.

The snow leopards had been whispering to each other, but they all froze instantly. The warriors near the front nervously touched their daggers, but their hands shook. They could feel it in their bones—If they made one wrong move, the angry dragon king or the terrifying red falcon would wipe them out. Or worse, the nine tailed fox could trap them in an illusion they could not escape from.

The crowd hurried to step backward, clearing a wide path for Hana.

Hana didn’t even look at the warriors. Her eyes locked right onto the mean females hiding near the trees. Brenda, who had been loudly insulting Mina just a second ago, turned completely pale.

Hana stopped a few steps away and gave them a cold, scary glare. She wasn’t yelling or angry; she just looked at them the way an apex predator would look at annoying bugs.

And it worked instantly. Several of the younger females whimpered and tucked their thick, spotted tails between their legs.

Even Brenda stepped back, her chest heaving in fear. She realized the tribe’s laws couldn’t protect her if Hana decided to move because to her, those laws meant nothing. And she could get away with anything thanks to her mates.

Ignoring the shaking group, Hana turned to look at Mina.

The young girl was still standing alone in the snow, gripping her old cloak. But as Hana walked up, Mina lifted her gaze to look at her. Her blue eyes got wide as she looked at Hana’s large, round belly, and then she looked right back into Hana’s eyes with a stubborn, brave face.

"Mina, was it?" Hana said, her voice calm and flat.

"Yes, Lady Hana?" Mina answered. Her voice was steady, and she kept her back straight.

"Your brother is now part of my house," Hana said plainly. "My home, New Eden, is in the process of becoming the safest fortress on these planes. Once it is completed, it will have heaters for the winter, solid shelter, abundance of food and opportunity to do something tangible with whatever talent you possess. There in New Eden, there are no mean tribes, and no one starves."

Loud gasps went through the crowd of snow leopards accompanied by loud whispers. Heaters? Abundance of food? A fortress? To a tribe starving and freezing on a barren mountain, it sounded like a dream.

Hana took a step closer, resting her hand on the heavy weight of her stomach. "My baby is growing fast. I am going to need a sensible, reliable female helper at home to do small chores. Someone who knows how to keep quiet and follow instructions and knows how to appreciate the mouth that feeds them." Her eyes trailed to Brenda briefly before coming back to Mina. "Will you be that female?"

Mina caught her breath. She looked past Hana and saw Ren. Her brother was standing tall, looking at her with a proud, happy nod.

"The choice is yours," Hana said, looking back at Brenda with a bored glance. "You can stay here on this freezing rock where your own people treat you like garbage. Or you can come with us to New Eden, live in total safety, and start your own life. What do you want to do?"

Brenda’s jaw tightened with jealousy and anger, but Caspian gave a low, warning growl, and she didn’t dare say a word.

Mina didn’t even have to think about it. She looked at the mean, scared faces of the selfish tribe that had turned against her family overnight just because the choice her brother made was not in their favor. Then she looked at Hana—a female who had all the power but was offering her a real choice.

Mina dropped to her knees in the deep snow and bowed her head.

"I choose to go with you, Lady Hana," Mina said loudly and clearly. "I will work hard for your household and protect you with my life. Thank you for letting me stay with my brother."

Ren let out a long breath, his tail finally relaxing as a wave of relief washed over him. He looked at Hana, his heart full of gratitude. She had done this for him. She had helped his sister and respected his wishes without making a big deal out of it. He was already loyal to her, but now he would follow her to the ends of the earth.

"Get up," Hana said flatly, unbothered by the emotion. "We are on a schedule. Stand behind Ren and pack your things when we go back."

"Yes, milady," Mina rose quickly and walked over to stand behind Ren’s big frame.

With that problem solved, Hana turned her back on the jealous crowd. She walked straight toward the giant metal doors of the bunker, and her four mates moved into formation around her.

The miracle the tribe had gathered to see was about to happen.

Stopping in front of the dead biometric panel, Hana raised her hand. Her system screen flashed before her eyes.

> [Would you like to purchase the Portable Micro-Fusion Battery Pack]?

> Cost: 5,000 Karmic Points

> Current Balance: 22,120 Karmic Points

> Description: A military-grade, high-density energy cell designed to jumpstart dead power grids and heavy tactical installations.

> [Confirm Purchase: YES / NO]

Yes, Hana commanded silently.

A heavy, solid metallic cylinder materialized smoothly into her hand with a soft shimmer. The center of the pack glowed with a bright, stable neon-blue light, humming quietly with a low, high-frequency power.

The snow leopard tribe watched in absolute silence, their eyes wide with shock. To them, Hana had just pulled a glowing piece of advanced god-like technology out of thin air. Even Brenda took another step back, completely terrified by the effortless magic.

Hana didn’t care about their staring. She stepped up to the dead console next to the massive bunker doors. She pulled open a rusted maintenance panel at the base, exposing the old, universal power cables. Without a moment of hesitation, she slid the glowing Micro-Fusion Pack into the empty slot.

The response was instant.

A loud, mechanical clack echoed deep inside the stone wall. The dead glass screen on the console suddenly flared to life, and her system flashed with rows of bright white text as the bunker’s emergency power grid booted up.

> [AEGIS SYSTEM ONLINE]

> Power Source: External Fusion Cell (100% Stability)

> Installation: Sub-Station 05

> Status: Active.

She placed her hand on the biometric scanner and another text displayed.

> BIOMETRIC: HUMAN

> WELCOME BACK

> DISENGAGING PRIMARY HYDRAULIC LOCKS...

A deep, heavy grinding sound shook the snow beneath their feet. The giant tungsten doors groaned as the old gears turned, breaking the thick layers of ice.

Slowly, the massive metal doors began to slide open, revealing a dark, long concrete tunnel that led straight into the bunker’s storage space.

Hana turned her head slightly, her dark eyes looking flatly over her shoulder at her four mates and Mina.

"I have opened it, like I said I would," her eyes trailed towards the tribesfolks. "Now, I shall take what I want."

She turned her head back to the bunker and as she took a step in, the bright white fluorescent lights above head all came to life, one row after the other until the entire space was illuminated.

"Wait here," she said to her mates. "I’ll be back in a moment."
