Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Supermarket
"Popcorn," he replied. His tone was casual.
Liora nodded thoughtfully; she could guess that it was something from this world because she had seen it for the first time. Most of the things here were similar to her world, but some things are entirely strange. But with the time she started accepting all things.
She was still curious to explore this world. Even if it was an apocalyptic world, some things are very advanced here, and the people are also very forward; they don't shy away from anything.

This was the thing that best suited her. There are no restrictions here on females. They can just live their life however they want. The clothing was also good. Now, she no longer had to carry that heavy skirt and corset that always crushed her waist.
She grabbed another handful of popcorn. "It's good."
The man chuckled softly. He leaned against the wall beside her. He casually chewed on his own popcorn. Together, they watched the scene unfold. Their synchronized munching made them look like spectators at a drama performance.
The fight had reached its peak. Chen Ruolin and Zhou Yinuo were now pointing fingers. They hurled increasingly creative insults at each other.
Now, both of them had started to throw dirty water on each other and start digging into the past of each other.
"Do you think they'll actually start throwing punches?" the man asked. His tone was casual. His lips twitched with amusement.
Liora shrugged. She tossed another piece of popcorn into her mouth. "Maybe. But I hope they don't stop just yet. This is getting good."
The man laughed. His laughter was deep and melodic. It drew a few curious glances. "You've got an interesting sense of humor," he remarked.
"And you're giving out popcorn at a fight," Liora retorted. She rolled her eyes at him and grabbed another handful of popcorn.
Meanwhile, Chen Ruolin finally grabbed a chair. She raised it above her head. "I'm going to wipe that smug look off your face!"
"Try it. I'll make sure your fake designer bag ends up as a mop!" Zhou Yinuo retorted. She held her clipboard defensively.
Before the situation could turn into actual violence, a stern voice cut through the noise.
"What is going on here?"
Liora walked out of the administrative hall with Zhou Yinuo and the boys. Liora was silently walking down the path when Zhou Yinuo's voice interrupted her.
"Sorry! You have to see something like this!" Zhou Yinuo said with an embarrassed smile. She was feeling really downcast. She had completely forgotten about Liora and was embarrassing herself with that Chen Raoulin.
Now she was afraid of what Liora would think about her. Would she leave their group and deem them as uncultured and noisy? Chen Raoulin had also said many bad things about her.
She did not want Liora to see her bad side. It was like an inner feeling that Liora saw her in a bright light and praised her. The feeling automatically came inside her to please Liora. She didn't know why, but she did not hate this feeling.
After all, Liora's presence was enough to garner respect and admiration. And she could not forget the life-saving grace of her. If not for her, maybe they would have already turned into zombies.
"Haha! Why are you sulking like that?" Liora laughed heartily, looking at the dejected face of Zhou Yinuo. "It would have been better if you had punched that green tea bitch," Liora said, making a punching motion.
Badm... badm...
Zhou Yinuo clenched her heart and found herself in a daze. The cheerful smile of Liora made her heart race. It was like she was looking at a goddess. After a good night of sleep and a fresh bath, Liora shone brighter than the sun. Her smile was enough to daze anyone.
She looked at Chen Wei and Liang Zihan and found them the same as her. They were also looking at Liora with the same bashfulness, like worshipping a goddess.
A sweet smile appeared on Zhou Yinuo's face, and she cheerfully said, "You're right. Next time I see that green tea bitch, I'll make sure to punch that plastic face of hers."
Then, looking at the bright expressions on each other's faces and the scheming gleam in their eyes, both of them burst into laughter.
Chen Wei and Liang Zihan could only shake their heads at the little tricks of these ladies. Both of them had doting looks in their eyes. They were ready to support them if it meant they could be this happy.

"Is this the location marked on the mission?" Liang Zihan asked Chen Wei. Now they were standing in front of a small supermarket, which was located a good distance from the base.
If you talk about its location, it was situated in a rather good place, a prime location filled with people.
"Do you think we could find anything here? After all, it should already be emptied by the people leaving here," Zhou Yinuo muttered aloud. She voiced everyone's doubt.
"If the base has assigned this place in the mission, it surely will have something decent for the base. Let's go inside. We should not waste any time here. It's already midday. The zombies will start appearing as the night starts," Chen Wei said and walked inside.
Liang Zihan followed behind him, and Zhou Yinuo grabbed Liora's arm, who was busy looking around the supermarket. It was the first time she had seen something like this. And such tall buildings here.
Last time, when she walked toward the base, most of the buildings were already ruined and collapsed.
But this area seemed rather clean and structured. It was intact in structure, only devoid of people.
Despite the desolation, this area seemed better preserved than most of the places Liora had encountered before.
Liora's gaze swept over the supermarket's entrance. The large glass doors were still in place, though one panel was cracked, its surface splintered like a spider's web.
Sunlight filtered through the grime-covered windows, casting long shadows on the ground. Above the doors, a faded sign with bold, colorful lettering proclaimed the store's name, though parts of it were missing.
As they stepped inside, a musty smell greeted them, a mix of stale air and decay. Liora's eyes widened as she took in the interior.
Rows upon rows of shelves stretched before her, though many were tipped over or emptied. Some shelves still held remnants of goods—cans with peeling labels, crushed cereal boxes, and a few jars of pickles gathering dust.
