Chapter 209: Chapter 209 They’re completely worthless now!
Her father, who had cast her out simply because she had chosen to marry the man she loved, forcing her to survive on the properties left behind by her late mother....Her stepmother, who had always made her life a living hell.....Her grandmother, whom she had once believed would stand by her side but never did....And Lucas...the Brooke family’s golden son.
The son her father had cherished with all his heart.....the son for whom he had sacrificed everything without hesitation.
Who would have thought that the person he treasured the most would eventually grow into such a heartless bastard?
"Did I cause the apocalypse, you bastard son?!" Mr. Brooke roared, his voice trembling with both rage and heartbreak.
"I carried you all the way here when you were injured," Mr. Brooke continued, tears streaming uncontrollably down his face as one hand remained pressed against his aching stomach. "I did everything I could just to make sure you were alright."
His breathing became ragged.
"Your injuries were your own fault. I warned you not to leave the shelter, but you refused to listen. Even then... even then, I thanked the heavens that you weren’t bitten by a monster. You were only stabbed by other survivors." His voice cracked as he struggled to continue. "Despite my old age, I carried you on my back. I brought you all the way to Commander Erick’s base. I begged them to save your life. I made sure you received treatment."
His eyes reddened even further.
"And now that you’ve recovered... this is how you choose to repay me?"
"Oh, just shut up already, old man," Lucas replied impatiently, scratching the back of his head as though the conversation had become nothing more than an annoyance. "You’re seriously getting on my nerves."
He then turned toward his mother.
Unlike Mr. Brooke, she had remained silent throughout the entire confrontation.
Not once had she attempted to stop her son.
Instead, she simply watched with an indifferent expression, silently supporting everything Lucas did.
"Let’s go, Mom," Lucas said casually. "There’s no point letting two miserable old people slow us down anymore."
He glanced back at his father and grandmother again with unconcealed disgust.
"They’re completely worthless now."
Mr. Brooke slowly lifted his tear-filled eyes toward his wife.
"You’re really not going to say anything, Kayla?" he asked painfully as he gently pulled his injured mother closer to his chest. "You’ve been standing there this whole time, watching your son beat both me and his grandmother..."
His voice quivered.
"And you won’t even say a single word?"
"Will you just shut the fuck up already?!" Lucas exploded.
His face twisted with fury as he charged toward the elderly pair.
Without another word, he began raining brutal kicks upon both his father and grandmother with the heavy boots on his feet.
Painful cries instantly filled the air all while the surrounding survivors gasped in horror.
Some instinctively covered their mouths, others turned their faces away, unable to continue watching.
Not a single person dared step forward as everyone knew Lucas’s temper. Anyone foolish enough to interfere would simply become his next target.
"Please stop it Lucas." Mr Brooke cried as he crawled toward old lady Brooke and used his body to shield her’s, collecting the kick meant for her as well as his alone. "I’m begging you please stop. Your grandmother isn’t strong for all these."
"If you won’t keep your damn mouth shut," Lucas bellowed between kicks, "then I’ll make sure you never open it again!"
He continued kicking them mercilessly a and again.
Only after he noticed blood trickling from Mr. Brooke’s mouth did he finally begin to slow down.
The elderly man’s face was covered in bruises, while fresh blood stained his lips and clothing.
Beside him, the old Lady Brooke lay curled up on the ground, her body trembling violently.
Blood had also begun staining her clothes from the countless injuries Lucas had inflicted upon her.
Satisfied, Lucas finally stopped.
He took several steps backward before brushing the dust off his trousers as though nothing significant had just happened.
"Let’s get out of here, Mom," he said indifferently. "I’m done with these fools."
Walking over to Kayla, he grabbed her hand without sparing another glance at the two people lying helplessly on the ground.
