Chapter 121: It’s a surprise

Giving Xavier a final, definitive nod, she walked out through the grand stone foyer, the heavy glass doors sliding open to reveal a sleek, armored security vehicle waiting in the driveway.

There was a chauffeur standing in front of the vehicle and as soon as he saw April, he knew right away that she was the one he had been assigned to convey.

He gave a respect bow and stated,

"Miss April, I shall be your guide to the Greels’ estate," he said and she nodded, watching as he opened the door to let her in.

The transport to the Greels territory took just under thirty minutes.

When the vehicle finally cleared the high-clearance security checkpoints, April looked out the window and felt a sudden spark of genuine surprise.

This was her first time visiting the Greels estate, and the sheer scale of the grounds was staggering.

It wasn’t just a luxury compound; it was an absolute ocean of perfectly manicured lawns, sprawling botanical gardens, and rare, towering greenhouses.

It was immediately obvious that the family patriarch, Robert Greels, possessed a severe, multi-million-dollar obsession with high-tier botany. Would he still be able to maintain this once the apocalypse hits? Who knows?

The car pulled up to the grand front pavilion, where Alexander was already waiting.

He was pacing back and forth across the pristine stone, his hands stuffed inside his pockets as he practically vibrated with anxious excitement.

The moment his eyes locked onto her arriving vehicle, his face lit up completely, though he quickly tried to cough and straighten his jacket to maintain his dignity.

April stepped out of the car, her loafers landing softly against the pavement. "Good morning, Alexander."

"Miss April! You’re right on time," Alexander grinned, stepping forward quickly. Then, he looked back toward the car and laughed sheepishly. "Uh, so, it turns out we’re actually gonna have to hop straight back into the vehicle. The gift isn’t located here."

April blinked. "Then why did you say it was here? Is there a reason?"

"It’s a surprise! Come on, it’s just ten minutes down the road," he insisted, opening the rear door for her himself.

Intrigued by the sudden mention of surprise, April slid back into the leather seat.

Alexander got into the other side and watched as she began to play her game. He noticed she was playing it a lot as of late.

"You seem very interested in this game."

"That’s because it’s interesting." She said, a genuine look of excitement glinting in her eyes as she taped on the colorful boxes. "I never played games before and didn’t know why people did but now I know. I don’t think I’m going to stop playing it anytime soon."

"Mm," he looked at the game and then back at her.

He equally played games but as for Winecraft, he leaned back, his eyes fixed on the way she focused her full attention on the game. Maybe I’ll start playing this game as well. Then...

Ten minutes later, the transport pulled into a highly exclusive, private industrial showroom on the edge of the commercial sector.

The massive glass facade was entirely devoid of common corporate branding, catering strictly to elite clients who required specialized transportation.

As they stepped through the heavy glass doors, the realization hit April instantly. A vehicle dealership. She looked at Alexander. Was he getting her a vehicle?

Alexander led her past rows of sleek, high-priced sports cars, marching directly toward a secluded, heavily guarded exhibition bay in the very back of the facility.

The moment her eyes landed on the single vehicle resting under the spotlights, April’s breath caught slightly.

It was a beast of a machine.

It wasn’t a standard, flashy G-Wagon. It was a massive, custom-built, heavily reinforced Jeep. The entire exterior was coated in a flawless, matte-black armor plating that completely absorbed the overhead lights.

The windows were multi-layered ballistic glass, the tires were run-flat military grade, and the front bumper was fitted with a heavy-duty steel ramming bar. It was the absolute definition of raw, unyielding power.

Alexander fidgeted slightly beside her, his arrogant confidence momentarily wavering as he watched her blank face.

"So... Do you like it? My grandfather and I spent hours looking through the restricted custom catalog to find something that perfectly matched your vibe. This one practically screamed your name."

April walked over to the vehicle, her hand reaching out to touch the cool, textured armor plating of the door panel.

A deep, profoundly satisfying thrill rushed through her inner.

"You completely beat me to it, Alexander," April stated, her voice dropping into a rare tone of genuine appreciation as she looked back at him. "I was already thinking of procuring a transport vehicle. And here we are. It is perfect. Thank you."

Alexander let out a massive, visible sigh of relief, his chest swelling with pride. "Man, I was so stressed you’d think it was too aggressive. Go ahead, hop into the driver’s seat. Give this baby a proper run around the track!"

April stared at the pristine leather interior of the driver’s cabin, then slowly shifted her gaze back to his eager face.

"I would love to do that," April said flatly. "But I do not know how to drive."

The showroom went completely, utterly silent.

Alexander froze mid-smile. His mouth opened, but absolutely no sound came out, his vocal cords completely locking up in sheer disbelief.

He slowly raised his hand, rubbing it over his chin as he processed this news.

The brilliant, terrifyingly accurate seer who holds the entire future of the world in her hands... doesn’t know how to drive?

Well, he did hear she had been a maid before now but he just... didn’t think that far. Did he go too far with this gift? Giving her something she could not personally use?

He shook his head rapidly, pulling his hand down as a sudden, massive wave of chaotic energy took over his face. No, she only didn’t know how to drive now, but it would be a different case once she learned.

"I’ll teach you!" Alexander exclaimed loudly, his voice echoing off the high showroom ceilings. "I will be your private instructor starting right now! We can completely skip the paperwork for a legal state driver’s license if you don’t want the hassle—it’s not like the traffic authorities are gonna exist during a zombie apocalypse anyway, right?" He pressed his hand over his chest. "Let me teach you how to handle this beast, Miss April!"
