Chapter 343: Chapter 343: Someone’s Coming, Spotted
Moreover, she possessed a personal dimension. As it grew more advanced, the resources it provided bolstered her confidence.
She was confident she could safely survive the coming cataclysms and make it to the very end.
’Compared to all this future technology, what’s more important to me right now is finding out what other disasters will strike after the seventh year of the apocalypse.’
’I just want to prepare as early as possible. Even though I’m confident I can handle whatever comes, there’s no harm in being fully prepared. It’ll make things easier for me and I won’t have to scramble when the time comes.’
’Most importantly, I don’t just want to survive. I want to thrive, to live freely and comfortably through these cataclysms.’
However, she could tell he was being completely sincere, so she decided not to intimidate him any further.
She nodded, and a notebook and a pen appeared in her hand.
Having seen it twice before, Andrew Shaw was much calmer this time when he saw her materialize objects out of thin air. He was no longer as shocked as he had been previously.
But he still watched Stella Sterling’s hand with a puzzled expression, wondering how on earth she did it.
’Even the technology from my time can’t do something like this. How is she able to?’
But as curious as he was, he didn’t dare voice his questions.
He was afraid one wrong move would displease her.
Besides, he had no idea what she was thinking right now.
Stella Sterling handed the notebook and pen to him. "In that case, I’ll trust you for now," she said. "While we’re on the road and you have free time, I want you to think. Write down anything that comes to mind in this notebook."
Hearing this, Andrew Shaw let out a huge sigh of relief. He knew his life was spared, at least for now.
But in the next moment, his expression soured. He looked at Stella Sterling pleadingly and said, "Could you just ask me questions and I’ll answer? Or maybe I can write it down for you later."
He paused for a moment before hurriedly explaining, "It’s not that I’m unwilling to tell you, it’s just... I get carsick. I already feel sick just sitting here. If I have to look down and write, I’ll definitely throw up. You don’t want me puking in your car, do you?"
As he said this, he lowered his head. He didn’t want to be difficult. This woman was terrifying, and he certainly didn’t want to refuse her request.
’After all, one wrong word and I might accidentally offend her.’
’But what can I do? I can’t control my motion sickness.’
Stella Sterling was about to refuse, but the image of him vomiting in her car flashed through her mind. The thought alone was nauseating. She nodded. "Fine. I’m not some cruel slave driver. Since you put it that way, I’ll agree. You can write it all down for me after we find a place to settle down."
"Of course, when I think of something to ask, you’d better answer me truthfully. Don’t even think about lying to me."
Andrew Shaw nodded repeatedly. "I know, I know. I won’t lie to you."
"Think about it. With that terrifying pill you have, would I dare lie to you?"
By the end of his sentence, Andrew Shaw could barely resist the urge to roll his eyes.
’Does she have any idea just how terrifying she is?’
’I’m so scared she’ll suspect I’m lying that I have to desperately prove myself even when I’m telling the truth.’
’How could I possibly dare to lie to her? Unless I have a death wish!’
Stella Sterling nodded in satisfaction and looked away. But then, as if remembering something, she turned back to Andrew Shaw.
"And you’d better not puke in my car. Even if you feel the urge, you either hold it in or get out and walk for a bit. If you do throw up in my car, I’ll make you clean every last drop of it yourself!"
Stella Sterling didn’t get motion sickness herself, so she had no idea what it felt like. However, she had once seen someone vomit uncontrollably, as if the world were ending.
’I really don’t want him to actually puke in my car. Not only would it be a hassle to clean, but it would also be a waste of water. Most importantly, it’s just plain disgusting to look at.’
That’s why she gave him a warning in advance.
Andrew Shaw wanted to nod, but as Stella Sterling spoke, the very image she described appeared in his mind. Instantly, a wave of nausea surged up his throat.
His expression changed instantly. Without a word to Stella Sterling, he shoved the car door open, scrambled out, and ran to a nearby patch of grass where he began to vomit.
Stella Sterling was dumbfounded by the sight.
She finally looked away. ’Alright, then. Looks like I’ll have to avoid saying disgusting things in the future if I don’t want him puking in my car.’
Not far away, Andrew Shaw finished vomiting, then pulled a few blades of grass to wipe his mouth.
Leaning on his thighs, he panted heavily, his face ashen.
’That woman... I already told her I get carsick, so why did she have to bring that up? You’re not even supposed to think about it, you know?’
Stella Sterling glanced at the sky, then leaned back in her seat to get some sleep.
It was already getting close to noon. After a nap, it would be night, and they would have to get back on the road. There wasn’t much time to rest.
Meanwhile, Andrew Shaw stood outside for a while. Although it was unbearably hot, he needed to breathe in the fresh air.
Otherwise, he would probably feel sick again the moment he got back in the car.
So, taking advantage of his small stature, he found a patch of dense grass to shield himself from the sun. He squatted there, slowly recovering.
He nibbled on some wild berries he had just picked.
.
After an unknown amount of time, just as he was feeling a bit better and preparing to head back to the car, the sound of a vehicle echoed from the distance.
His expression changed. He quickly ducked down, using the tall grass to hide himself.
Then he glanced in Stella Sterling’s direction. After a moment’s thought, he began to crawl toward her car, intending to warn her that someone else was coming.
Regardless of whether this group of people had malicious intentions, he had to warn her so she could be prepared and not be caught off guard.
’He and that woman were on the same side now. I can’t just stand by and watch something happen to her.’
But unexpectedly, despite his caution, he was spotted.
He heard a man’s voice shout, "Look, there’s a kid over there!"
"Strange. We’re in the middle of nowhere, and there’s a little kid here? No, there must be other people nearby. Grab the kid first. We’ll see if we can score something big out of this."
Andrew Shaw’s heart sank. ’This is bad!’
