Chapter 134: Importance of Progress

What Max learned from the first subject in the Imperial Law Collection was how an Empire operated progressively.

It was a very intriguing subject that he did not feel bored at once—every word, knowledge, and understanding kept pulling him, which fascinated him.

For Max, the Government of the Empire of Valtherion was multiple times better than any government back on Earth.

Learning the Imperial Charter and Constitutional Framework gave Max a feeling like it would come in handy in the future.

As he ruminated on the topic about the future, his eyes widened.

Instead of establishing guild like a country, I should establish my Empire once the apocalypse descends.

At the thought of becoming a Emperor on Earth thrilled him.

He entertained that idea simply because to fight against demons needed manpower.

Max’s desired nothing but a complete annihilation of the demon race that constantly threatened him and his loved ones.

Yet, he couldn’t trust the humans on Earth, betrayal could instantly occur once a chance has appeared.

But what if by the Empire’s power as an Emperor made those chances instantly erased?

It was plausible. The Empire didn’t need to resort by force to compel all the citizens to follow the Government.

The Imperial Charter and the Constitutional Framework proved how the Empire manipulated every single individual to not entertain any thoughts of betraying the Empire and solely devoted themselves for the sake of the state.

Max finally had an idea on what to do in the future once the apocalypse descended.

For now, he must fully comprehend how the Empire operated and with Jeremiah, he would create an Empire that wouldn’t suffer the same fate as the Empire of Valtherion.

Motivated, he proceeded to the next subject of the Imperial Law Collection—the Military Code of Valtherion.

Until he was forced to log out...

...

April 4, 2024. 10pm in the evening.

As soon as Max crawled out of the NovaPro Immersion Pod, he didn’t dilly-dally and left his room, proceeding to the kitchen.

He was extremely hungry. When his consciousness finally returned to reality, the extreme hunger struck him.

To his surprise, Auntie Sarah was in the living room, watching TV.

Max greeted her and the latter stood up and walked to the dining room.

She said, "Let me reheat the dishes for you."

Max then instantly realized why Auntie Sarah was in the living room.

Cassie might have informed her of the maximum hours he would leave the gaming pod.

Auntie Sarah waited until then.

Max smiled brightly.

He proceeded to the dining room, where, once he arrived, the dishes were already laid out in the table.

Most of them were his favorites.

He tasted the dishes closer to him and felt warm not by the temperature of the dishes but from the hands who prepared them.

He thanked God if ever there still was for providing him precious individuals in his life.

He vowed not to lose them again.

Watching Max ate heartily, seemingly taking it slow, afraid to take his extremely hungry stomach by surprise, Auntie Sarah couldn’t help but smile.

She said, "I will continue watching in the living room, if you need something, just call me."

Max nodded. He wanted to chat with her, but his mouth was already full.

Max ate for the next dozens of minutes, not intending to eat a lot.

It was already late in the evening.

Once he was finished, he silently washed the dishes with the dish washer and caught Auntie Sarah sleeping on the couch.

He smiled and decided not to wake her up.

There was a spare blanket below the couch, and he grabbed it to gently place on her body after slowly laying her down the couch in a comfortable position.

Auntie Sarah didn’t wake up at all, confirming Max’s decision to let her sleep in the couch.

As he proceeded to the upstairs, he said to Cassie, "Turn the TV and lighting in the living room off. Make sure Auntie Sarah will sleep peacefully there."

"Understood."

Max heard a silent echoing in the house and the lighting from the living room was reduced.

He smiled and entered in his room, exercising lightly to help digest his food faster and finally slept at 11pm.

From eight hours of sleep, Max reduced it to an hour. Now that he was practicing the Neuromuscular Training Combat System, his neurological and psychological state had greatly improved.

eight hours of sleep effects from before were now equal and much better with just 7 hours of sleep.

In Max’s past life, he managed to reduce it to five hours. Compared to other exceptional players who could remain to consistently sleep just for 4 hours, he lagged behind.

But Max was not disheartened. He was not in a hurry anyway.

It was exactly 6am in the morning when he woke up.

Without hesitation, he trained and exercise in the cantilevered concrete terrace half-naked.

The reason he intentionally left 16 hours maximum rest time from the game was precisely not only because of the required sleep of his real body but the training duration he must not neglect.

After all, he was living in two different lives, so he must not neglect each one of them at all.

After he was finished with his training, he assessed that his progression was quite slow.

But it was there.

He was progressing.

That was more than enough for Max.

After taking a shower and prepared himself for the next twenty minutes, he immediately logged into the game at exactly 7:23am in the morning.

He returned to the exact same spot and summoned not only Jeremiah but the rest of the warriors.

He ordered Jeremiah to brief the warriors of his reclusive plan, and the warriors were filled with vigor with the idea of training with their master.

They vowed to help their master grow stronger in combat, leaving Max to smile.

Max then allocated them six straight hours of training by themselves before they would be summoned to train with him.

The other six straight hours while he was training in the library was allocated for the rangers to train.

After he finished his conversation with them, he ordered Jeremiah to lead them to the training courtyard after giving instructions of its directions.

He was left alone to continue studying where they left off...
