Chapter 123: Study With Jeremiah

Lieutenant Garrick’s assumed that the watchtower might have been reclaimed by the Greater Demon who ambushed an Archmage and a Blade Saint.

He suspected that the Greater Demon’s action was the result of reclaiming the watchtower—a quest completed by Max.

Hence, the mission was definitely dangerous. Despite attaining D-rank on their respective class, the three players were not confident they could complete the mission.

However, the three of them had already experienced the local quest with the first player.

They were exasperated on how Max completed the quest by himself.

Jaden mentioned their motivation in the video.

After completing the local quest, he had become arrogant, as far as criticizing Max’s previous completion of local quest.

He even shamed Max for using NPCs as meat shield to complete the local quest, mentioning even how he betrayed Rhayne to hoard the rewards by himself.

He compared Max’s achievements to them, as they recruited players while completing the quest without a single player dying.

He recounted details of facing countless demons and monsters, with the boss being at C-rank.

Max couldn’t help but chuckled when he finished watching the video.

Jaden’s words were convincing, but if it wasn’t because Max himself was aware of what had happened, he would surely believe him.

Going to a perilous quest without a dying member? Well, sure it is a perilous quest. Max thought in a sarcastic tone.

Clearly, recording himself narrating the events of the local quest completion that had transpired was to only attack Max.

This guy surely hates me to the core, huh?

Max couldn’t blame Jaden.

Jaden was supposed to complete two local village quest, but Max ended up stealing them.

Max also didn’t expect that the three individuals who he encountered and humiliated would work together to complete a single local village quest.

He shook his head.

Jaden is surely fated to complete a local quest, while Rhayne is already shining this early. Julian, that guy... is using his money as an advantage. They are discovering their potential and making use of it efficiently.

Max didn’t care if they ever became a threat to him.

He could even take down the three C-rank players, much less than them.

Max was only amused by Jade’s bold indirect declaration of war while reading another post by Julian.

Rhayne, on the other hand, was surprisingly quiet. If Julian could convince Jaden to hate Max with money, Rhayne could not.

Max didn’t care Rhayne’s current state at all.

After being updated by the recent events, imprinting them into his mind, it was already 12pm.

Now that the refrigerator was filled with foods, bought by Auntie Sarah and Enzo with his money of course, and the necessities they asked Cassie to order had arrived and Max arranged them to their places, Max began to settle in his new residence by cooking for his lunch.

It was the first meal he cooked in his new residence. Max savored every taste and the moment itself.

It was still 2am in the morning and his character had already rested.

If Max grind for hours without resting his character, he would receive a debuff like lessening his concentration, until he didn’t have a choice but to force his character to take a rest.

Now, his character had a plentiful of rest and there were still four hours until he proceeded to the Command Hall or simply waiting for the Commander to arrive in his own residence.

No matter what, he already has a communication device in his private officer and as far as he was aware, the communication device could sense his location and rang in a volume that suffice in reaching him.

At this moment, Max decided to confirm his theories. If it worked out just fine, he would immediately announce an isolation to increase his combat power.

Max first decided to visit the library. The training courtyard already confirmed his idea of training with his warriors in that place. His visit to the library was to study with the Radiant Oracle, Jeremiah.

When he arrived in the library, he immediately summoned Jeremiah.

After greeting him, Jeremiah silently surveyed his surroundings and immediately had an idea why Max summoned him.

Max glanced at him and asked, "How well do you know your other sisters and brothers?"

Jeremiah instantly replied, "Sixty percent, Master."

Max nodded. It was already high, meaning that Jeremiah had already comprehensive knowledge of his brothers and sisters, except their secrets and their pasts.

He asked, "Is there someone who is more intelligent than you? Or can keep up with you?"

Jeremiah confidently replied, "I don’t think so, Master."

Master nodded. He turned towards the bookshelves and said, "For the next four hours, we will study in this library. I want you to be my mentor. Together, I hope we can expand our knowledge and be prepared for the future battle."

Jeremiah was stunned. He immediately kneeled, dropped his weapons to the floor and bowed deeply.

"It’s my greatest honor to be your mentor, Master."

Max nodded. He walked towards the nearest bookshelves and saw a placard atop it, hanging from the ceiling.

Imperial Law.

Max understood that the section consisted a collection of the Imperial Law.

He had not gotten a high position in his past life, so he didn’t necessarily have to learn the Imperial Law.

But now, with the Imperial Demon Vanguard’s position and his inevitable involvement with the Imperial Family, it was a must for him to learn the Imperial Law.

Max saw a brief text written in the side of the bookshelves and read them.

The Imperial Law Collection contains the legal framework governing the Empire of Valtherion. It serves as the primary reference for Imperial officials, military officers, and commissioned representatives exercising authority on behalf of the Crown.

The collection also includes standardized procedures for cooperation between the military, local governments, the Arcane Authority, and the Holy Church.

Max had Jeremiah read the introduction of the Imperial Law Collection, allowing the latter to have a brief understanding of the Empire.

After they finished reading, Max saw a sequence of number ranging from 1 to 10. However, there were still sub numbers, such as 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and so on and so forth.

Each main number was the specific subject while their sub number represented their volume.

In total, there were more than fifty books in the Imperial Law topic alone...
