Chapter 120: Exploring the Residence

When Max passed through the gate with his horses, the gate closed by itself.

Max had his horses stay in a detached stable.

He was a bit shocked that it already has everything the horses needed.

Powered by runes, the stable could continuously manage taking care of his horses by itself.

How efficient.

Max had been deliberating of recruiting an assistant that would follow him, taking care of his horses and other matters.

But with a place that reminded him of Cassie, he didn’t need to worry.

After he settled his horses who were still disheartened from the earlier stunt, he didn’t hesitate to venture around his residence.

It was currently in the evening, and the lighting activated by themselves with the help of runes.

Most of the lights were enchanted to the point that Max couldn’t even differentiate them from the technological light back in his real world.

He chuckled when he realized that even in the game, it felt like he owned a villa again.

I think I can permanently stay here, but doing nothing will cost me everything inside the game.

Max shook his head to discard the unnecessary thoughts as he entered the main entrance hall.

It opened into a spacious reception hall used for receiving official visitors.

It has an imperial commissioner banner, guest reception desk, seating area, security checkpoint, and display of the Vanguard’s commission certificate.

The main entrance hall alone was spacious that it almost like an entire living room of someone else’s house.

Understanding the main entrance hall made Max got the gist of his residence.

So, if there’s an operation against demon’s invasion or their operation, I can typically hold it in the residence.

Military officers, Church representatives, and provincial officials... it seems the residence is spacious enough to hold a hundred of them.

As Max wandered, he walked deeper past the main entrance hall and arrived in a formal meeting room.

The chamber was furnished with a long conference table, provincial maps, and secure document cabinets, enough to hold a military briefings, administrative meetings, witness interviews, diplomatic discussions, and coordination with Church officials.

At this moment, Max finally understood that his residence was more than just a house.

This is truly a residence of an Imperial Demon Vanguard, huh?

Max shook his head. He explored deeper and arrived to a private office.

It was certainly an operational center of his residence.

It contained administrative desk, provincial maps, communication crystal terminal, locked archives, and an empty personal library.

The office could serve as his primary workspace for reviewing reports, maintaining investigation records, and corresponding with Imperial authorities.

Max glanced at every features that the private office has and saw another small communication device beside the communication crystal terminal.

Max then understood that the latter was for long distance and the former was for shorter distance.

Max furrowed his eyebrows. If that’s the case, I can contact Lieutenant Garrick? Or other Commander in the settlements that faced unsettling phenomenon that involved demons?

Max wasn’t aware that the moment his residence finally had an owner, every commander in other settlements received an information about his appearance.

In other words, an Imperial Demon Vanguard had finally appeared.

They could immediately informed him and what to do given his vast knowledge on dealing with demons.

Max wasn’t aware of it yet, but he would inevitably do.

After Max explored his private office, he went deeper and arrived in the library.

He was a bit surprised of its presence.

There was two page papers placed in a table and Max read it.

"This library contains reference works supplied jointly by the Imperial Government and the Holy Church.

The Imperial Demon Vanguards of the past had also accumulated, if not, created a body of knowledge in fighting with demons.

This library collected various works in an aim for a continuous effort in expelling the demons out of the Empire, as well as dwindling their intention to invade the human’s safehaven."

Max was a bit astonished.

After reading the first page, he felt like becoming an Imperial Demon Vanguard was more of an inheritance rather than a simple promotion from being a citizen of the Empire.

He then glanced and read the second page.

The library contains imperial law, demon classifications, historical campaigns, ecclesiastical records, monster taxonomy, regional geography, and tactical manuals.

Certain restricted texts require authorization from the Holy Church or the Imperial Administrative Office.

Max read and understood that the library was intended to provide a comprehensive knowledge on the Imperial Demon Vanguard.

He understood after taken by surprise when he read the monster taxonomy.

It wasn’t only the demon invasion that the Empire had a lot of problems, the monster wave, as well.

Max was interested in reading the books, but he decided to explore deeper in his vast residence.

After the library was surprisingly the Armory.

But... it was empty.

This is still useful in storing equipments, potions, and coins to be auctioned in the future. This is better to prevent my inventory and storage ring from reaching the maximum capacity.

Max thought, not dismayed that the Armory was empty. If it wasn’t because of its features resembling an Armory, Max would have thought it was empty warehouse.

The Armory was also restricted to him only, as it also has a handprint placed into the wall.

He didn’t need to worry from being stolen by an exceptional thief.

After the Armory was the Training Courtyard.

There was a stone-paved open courtyard inside his residence.

The facilities feature weapon practice posts, archery targets, mana-resistant training dummies, and an open sparring area.

It was a medium sized, enough to cover five of his Radiant Knights to train with each other without feeling cramped.

Max was delighted. In total, he has four warriors main class’ radiant knights.

They could train here without restraint.

Just as he thought so, he was struck with a delightful realization that made his eyes and smile widened...
