Apocalypse Landlord: My Tenants Are All Beautiful Heroines.

The next morning…

Aiden woke up as the soft sunlight filtered through the curtains of the apartment. Aiden slowly opened his eyes to see Alisha hugging him in sleep.

Her wedding veil was still loosely attached to her messy hair. Traces of last night's passion were still visible on her skin.

Aiden smiled, looking at her cutesy sleeping face. Perhaps it was the work of her motherhood that she looked so beautiful and relaxed.

He gently slipped out of her embrace and pulled the blanket higher to cover her, making sure she would not feel cold.

He stayed there for a moment, watching her sleep. Then he slowly got up from the bed. He picked out his trademark gray pajama pants from the closet and put them on.

He did not bother with a shirt. After all, no one living on the floor would mind it. In fact, most of them would have liked it instead. His upper body remained bare as he walked quietly toward the door.

Before leaving the room, he glanced back at Alisha one more time. Honestly, he didn't want to leave her side, but there were things he needed to do.

Aiden stepped out of the bedroom and closed the door behind him. The living room was quiet. The candles from last night had burned out, leaving behind a faint, sweet smell in the air. He walked to the kitchen to get some water before walking to the balcony to look around.

"What the hell…"

The words escaped his lips as he noticed a crowd gathered outside the apartment gates. If not for the orcs holding a line there, those people would have already barged inside.

Among the crowd, he also saw familiar faces, primarily Old Joe. It seemed the entire survivor camp had arrived at his doorstep, but more people looked unkempt and disheveled.

"System! What is going on there?"

[Ahem, Host, do you remember what I said about barrier expansion?]

Aiden's thoughts snapped back to the topic. She had indeed told him that all humans and even some monsters would get the option to become a tenant or be expelled from the barrier.

But even if that was the case, something clearly seemed off. He could understand that the people from the survivor camp were there, but the number of people he saw there clearly exceeded the number of people there were in the camp!

"I do, but how come so many people had been hiding in this ruined city!"

[Sewers, Host. These people have been all living in the sewers, thinking the world had ended. If not for the barrier expansion, they might have gone unnoticed for months, if not years.]

"Yeah, no. They smell too much for me to handle. Cancel their tenancies and throw them out."

[Host? We need people for expansion—]

"No more expansions. Fuck it! I'm tired of it… for now."

The thing the system was worried about finally happened. Her unbeloved host had gotten bored with his life once again. No, she couldn't let it happen. The Otherworld was already ruined because of it, and she didn't want him to ruin another world.

[Host, you have a large area to rule over now.]

"And?"

[Why don't you just banish them to the outskirts? That way, they can contribute towards the expansion while also acting as dogs to guard the apartments.]

Aiden thought about it for a moment. The incident with 'Drew' the bone mangler, was still fresh on his mind. If he kept those dirty dogs at the border region of his new territory, then surely they could live without interfering with him.

"Fine. Give them some broken buildings to live in, hell, tell them to live in the abandoned survivor camp. Just get them out of here."

[Already on it, Host!]

A large batch of people disappeared from below just as the system finished speaking. However, even their disappearance caused chaos there.

Seeing how many disappeared in the flash, a woman near the back fainted, and her neighbor barely caught her. The orcs holding the line didn't even flinch, as they had seen a lot of things like that in the Otherworld.

Their unaffectedness only made it worse for the people there, as they suspected the orcs had eaten them.

Yes. The monsters had eaten them in the blink of an eye, and nothing was left behind of the humans. That made the most sense to them.

Surprisingly, among the crowd, Old Joe was the only calm person. Since most of them there were his people, and thought that he was the one who had brought them there, they immediately stopped spewing bullshit as soon as he raised a hand.

"Everyone, calm down! Can't you see the obvious?" he yelled, pointing at the orcs. "The great landlord has tamed these beasts for our protection!"

Hearing his words, Aiden couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. He had wanted to throw him out as well, but decided to delay it for the moment to see what the old man had in mind.

"Look around! There are only two buildings, one for the orcs and one for humans. Now tell me, how can all of us stay in one building?"

Old Joe's words made sense to them. After all, they had been there for hours now, and apart from forming a wall to protect the buildings, the orcs had clearly not attacked them as if someone had prohibited them from doing so.

Besides, people were already living inside the smaller building. Housing everyone there would have indeed been a problem.

"The landlord must have sent them to some other destination where they can live properly, while we can stay here…"

As he said that, the old man looked up at the balcony. Aiden was still standing there, bare-chested, holding his glass of water, looking down at them all with a casual expression.

Aiden noticed his gaze and lifted his glass as if acknowledging him before pouring it all down. Since there was quite a lot of distance between them, the water splashed next to the old man's feet instead of his head, but the meaning behind Aiden's actions made it there without veering off course.

"Senile bastard thinks I'll forgive him for bullying Karina just like that?" he scoffed, walking back inside. "System, tell Karina her people were there. She can deal with them as she sees fit."
