Chapter 267: Public opinion

Black Wolf was acutely aware of the immense power of a level-five zombie lord. In the past, when he and Green Wolf had reached level sixty, they had once joined forces with other rulers, brimming with confidence, to battle a level-five zombie lord. However, the strength of the level-five zombie lord had far exceeded their expectations.

As a result, the other three individuals had been directly killed by the zombie lord. Only the two brothers, with their exceptional teamwork and by using every last resource at their disposal, had managed to narrowly escape.

Over the years, the memory of the level-five zombie lord had continued to haunt Black Wolf. If given the chance, he wouldn’t dare to provoke such a creature again.

However, the fact that Waldo could kill a level-five zombie lord was utterly inconceivable.

Black Wolf gritted his teeth, unable to believe this fact. Yet, considering the various pieces of evidence and testimonies, it was highly likely that this event was true.

"What kind of devil have I provoked? Why did I get involved with him?" Black Wolf shivered and muttered to himself. "No, Waldo, despite your power, I can’t just sit here and wait for my doom! There must be a way! There has to be! I must find a way to stop Waldo’s actions!"

Black Wolf rambled to himself, appearing almost manic. His brain raced as he rapidly formulated a plan.

"Got it!" His eyes lit up, and shortly after, he immediately contacted some people he had known before.

He began, "Brothers, I won’t beat around the bush; I’ve gotten on the wrong side of someone powerful. I understand that you’re too far away to provide direct assistance right now, but I have a plan. I only need you to speak a few words on my behalf at a critical moment. Don’t worry, it won’t cause any trouble for you. Yes, that’s right, just a few words to vouch for me!"

Following this, Black Wolf called in Ellen and gave him some instructions.

Ellen’s eyes immediately lit up. "Indeed, with our current strength, going head-to-head with Waldo would be like hitting a stone with an egg. But harnessing the power of public opinion can at least ensure that Waldo won’t dare to harm us! As long as we survive, there will come a day when we can seek revenge and redeem our honor!"

Black Wolf nodded approvingly at Ellen. Compared to Drake, Ellen was leagues ahead. If they had sent Ellen to attack the Dawn Guard in the first place, it might have led to a different outcome.

However, Black Wolf shook his head, putting aside those thoughts. "Now, go arrange it. We need to generate public opinion and exert pressure on Waldo. Understand?"

"Understood!" Ellen nodded solemnly.

In the chat channel, numerous survivors were discussing recent maritime news. Ever since the entire Eastern District opened up, the chat channel had become more lively.

"I heard that Piers defeated his opponents and officially became the controller of the Ark of Light, Noah’s Ark! Is it true?"

"Really? I know him, he was only level fifty not long ago. How did he suddenly reach level sixty and defeat other rulers?"

"It’s true, why would I lie? He must have had some incredible encounters!"

"He’s really amazing; I’m so envious!"

Many couldn’t help but envy Piers. To become the controller of a Noah’s Ark was a mark of a true hero, destined to stand at the pinnacle of the world and enjoy the most luxurious treatment.

In this era, there were significant changes, and the hierarchy was strict. The strong enjoyed the best treatment, while the weak lived in cramped rooms, subjected to ruthless exploitation. The Oceanic Era was a time of uncertainty, and opinions about it varied.

Alright, let’s discuss it. We bottom-tier survivors are often powerless, lacking freedom and choice, and sometimes even controlled by certain individuals who dictate life and death for us.

But, if we look at it from a positive perspective, it’s better than it used to be. At least now, we can sleep soundly without worrying about being bitten by zombies in the middle of the night.

Perhaps this is the overarching trend of changing times—survival of the fittest, where the strong rule!

The fact that a few individuals are gradually taking control of the major Noah’s Arks illustrates this point.

Many people joined in the discussion, acknowledging that this era had its ups and downs.

Then, someone expressed their concerns.

Now that the major Noah’s Arks are being controlled by the powerful, I’m afraid these controllers might have ambitious intentions. They won’t settle for being just the leaders of a single vessel. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

When that time comes, there might be naval battles, and we common people might become cannon fodder, with no say in our fate!

I heard that some people have found resource boxes at sea, containing various warships or maritime armed helicopters. Once someone isn’t satisfied and starts a war, our peaceful days may come to an end.

This statement resonated with many, as people always feared war, regardless of the era. When a war broke out, it meant a significant loss of life, and individuals had no control over their own destiny.

Then, someone stood up and proposed, "I think we should do everything in our power to prevent such situations. If someone attacks another Noah’s Ark, we should collectively condemn them and provide a necessary response! It’s essential to start now. If anyone dares to initiate warfare, we should unite and pressure them to give up on war. Public opinion is crucial!"

The crowd engaged in lively discussions, with various opinions and ideas being tossed around. Some even suggested forming an anti-war alliance.

While some believed it was unnecessary and an overreaction, the persistent expressions of concern from others stirred up a significant amount of worry among the people. As a result, the calls for anti-war efforts gradually gained momentum.

In just a few hours, the topics and posts related to anti-war sentiments had flooded the platform, spreading like wildfire.
