Chapter 59: Chapter 59: The Bastard is a Repeat Offender
But his spatial storage was too small and could only hold one shelf. The other five had to be scattered among the others’ spaces.
In a matter of moments, the six shelves disappeared, leaving only a wreck behind.
Zeke Lowell’s heart pounded, his face flushed as he ordered in a low voice, "Quick, let’s go!"
Dozens of people quickly left the scene, tiptoeing stealthily back to their base.
Lily Hart, deep in sleep, faintly heard an explosion. Thinking it was just a dream, she rolled over and went back to sleep.
Diana Sharp heard the explosion and her eyes shot open. She slipped out of bed, crept to the window, and peered outside.
Instantly wide awake, she immediately went to Lily Hart and shook her. But to her surprise, Lily just rolled over, hugged her pillow, and fell back asleep.
She shook her again, but it was no use. Diana Sharp had no choice but to lean close to her ear and whisper, "Someone stole your lottery ticket!"
Lily Hart bolted upright from her sleep as if shocked from a nightmare, crying out, "Who? Who stole my lottery ticket!"
Diana Sharp grabbed her shoulders, saying anxiously, "Lily, the convenience store was trashed!"
"What?!" Lily Hart scrambled out of bed, slid on her slippers, and rushed downstairs, her mind still fuzzy.
’I knew that wasn’t a dream!’
Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs followed behind. The three of them left the RV together. The wreckage of the convenience store was not far off, clearly visible under the searchlights.
As they got closer, they could see it was completely empty inside. Not only was the glass shattered, but everything inside had been stolen clean!
"Fuck!" Lily Hart couldn’t help but curse. "Which son of a bitch did this? If you’ve got a problem with me, come find me directly! What kind of coward messes with my poor, defenseless convenience store!"
She was so angry she spun in a circle. "They’d better hope I don’t find out which bastard did this!"
She then started yelling at the System. "Don’t you have a ’perfectly safe zone’? Where’s the ’perfect’? Where’s the ’safe’?!"
"[Host, that only applies to the RV,]" the System replied weakly.
Lily Hart was choked with speechless anger. She pulled up the RV’s security footage, but only two cameras were pointed toward the convenience store.
And the angles were bad. She reviewed the footage chronologically and finally found the culprits.
She wished she could reach through the screen and drag them out for an on-the-spot... right here, right now... execution!
Diana Sharp leaned in. "That’s quite a few people. They look practiced. This doesn’t seem like their first time."
’So they’re repeat offenders.’ Lily Hart grew even angrier. ’They should be dragged out and given death by a thousand cuts! Then minced into paste to feed the zombies!’
"He looks a little familiar," Tina Jacobs said softly. She was a bit introverted and timid, so her voice was quiet.
"Huh?" Lily Hart asked. "Have you seen him before, Tina?"
Tina Jacobs nodded affirmatively. "When we first arrived at Bloomfall Base, Brother Frost was helping us look for a house, and we ran into this person."
She pointed to the image of Zeke Lowell sneaking around and pressing against the glass on the Light Brain. "That’s him!"
Lily Hart clenched her fist and punched the air. "Let’s go get him!" She had just lifted her leg to move but then put it back down.
She swiped a few times on her Light Brain and dialed Frost Shaw. The call connected in less than five seconds, and his slightly hoarse voice came through.
"Hello?"
"Get over here. The lottery shop," Lily Hart said, her tone unfriendly.
On the other end, Frost Shaw was instantly wide awake. He quickly got himself ready, gave some instructions to Easton and the others, and hurried over.
"What happened...?" The question had barely left his lips when Frost Shaw saw the scene, and his face instantly darkened.
Frost Shaw’s eyes were grim, and the air around him seemed to solidify. He looked at Lily Hart and the other two, his gaze softening for a moment. "Are you three all right?"
Meanwhile, Lily Hart was still calling for backup. She had also summoned Roman Rowe, whose motorcycle roared over, leaving a trail of exhaust in its wake.
"I’m here, I’m here! Are we having a late-night party?!" Roman Rowe yelled, but in the next second, he saw the floor covered in shattered glass.
He immediately shut his mouth and said with a serious expression, "Who? Who did this? For just one Crystal Core, I’ll beat the shit out of them."
His words slightly eased the tense atmosphere. Lily Hart shot him a glare. "Just come with me."
Seeing Roman Rowe about to straddle that incredibly loud motorcycle again, she immediately said, "Put that piece-of-junk bike away!"
Roman Rowe froze, pulled his long leg back, and patted the body of his bike. "Not you, I’m not talking about you." Then he obediently stored it in his spatial storage.
"You two go back to the RV first. Don’t worry, outsiders can’t get in," Lily Hart said to the two younger girls.
After watching them get into the RV, Lily Hart turned around. Facing the direction of Zeke Lowell’s base, she waved a hand and said calmly, "Let’s go."
The three of them walked in uncanny unison, with Frost Shaw and Roman Rowe falling a step behind Lily Hart, guarding her from the rear.
Roman Rowe asked, "So, who is it? Where are they?"
Lily Hart paused and looked at Frost Shaw. "He knows."
’I do?’
"Tina said that day you took them to find a house, you ran into a group of people. Their leader was a big, burly guy," Lily Hart explained succinctly.
Frost Shaw thought for a moment, then slowly retrieved the memory. "I know who you mean. Follow me."
And so, the three of them quietly made their way toward the urban village area...
Zeke Lowell and his men, fresh off their big score, were gathered on the third floor.
The group was crowded around the shelves as if they were a bonfire, arms slung over each other’s shoulders, dancing and whooping with joy.
Zeke Lowell stood in the very center, his gaze fixed on the instant noodles on the shelves, a flash of craving in his eyes.
He threw his arm in the air. "Men, tonight, we eat instant noodles!"
"Hell yeah! Thanks, Boss!"
"The Boss is awesome!"
"Stick with the Boss, and we’ll always eat!"
Listening to the flattery coming from all sides, a smug smile crept onto Zeke Lowell’s lips.
Each person was given a cup of instant noodles, a sausage, and a few small bags of spicy strips. It was more than enough to satisfy them.
The team had a Water Ability User and a Fire Ability User, so boiling water wasn’t a problem. It was just a little slow.
The dozens of men were so immersed in the joy of their impending instant noodle feast that they didn’t even notice Lily Hart and the other two arrive on the third floor.
Frost Shaw twitched a finger, and several windows were sealed shut with ice. The sudden movement and the fluctuation of power immediately caught Zeke Lowell’s attention.
"Who’s there?" Zeke Lowell blurted out instinctively. His hawk-like eyes swept toward the windows, and his heart leaped in alarm. He already knew who it was.
A thin layer of ice had sealed the broken windows. Zeke Lowell shouted, "Men, jump out the windows and scatter!"
As soon as he said it, some stopped slurping their noodles, while those with spatial storage immediately put the shelves away. Their roles were clearly defined.
In a matter of moments, the scene was cleaned up. Those near the windows tried to smash through them with their bodies and jump, but no matter how thin the layer of ice looked, they couldn’t break it.
Lily Hart strode in, followed by Frost Shaw and Roman Rowe. She had the air of someone at the center of her own universe, backed by powerful guardians.
The two men behind her wore grim expressions, their auras magnificent. Waves of power washed over Zeke Lowell and his men.
Immediately, some found it hard to breathe, collapsing to their knees under the immense pressure. First-rank Superpower Users even had blood trickling from their noses and mouths, their limbs going limp and refusing to move.
"You stole my things and thought you could just walk away?" Lily Hart said coldly, her eyes like an invisible pair of giant hands clamping down on Zeke Lowell.
Zeke Lowell met her gaze, and his legs felt inexplicably weak. But with dozens of men behind him, he had at least some semblance of courage. He puffed out his chest. "Yeah, it was us! So what if we robbed you?"
