Chapter 173: Chapter 173: Your Grandfather
What’s more, the fruit it bore was even helpful for their training!
She had managed to reach the Third Rank so quickly because she had been stuck at the Second-rank Peak for two years...
In the next room, Sasha Shelby poured water from a thermos into a glass cup, watching as the thermos magically refilled itself.
After pouring it out again, it didn’t refill. Just as she thought, it only worked three times. ’I’ll have to be careful not to waste it in the future.’
Three cups a day was more than enough. Sasha Shelby was very satisfied.
The air tonight seemed to be filled with the scent of happiness...
Lily Hart had earned a lot of points today and also drifted off to sleep happily.
「The next morning」 The alarm clock blared. Lily Hart turned it off and lazed in bed for a while longer before finally climbing out and saying "Hi~" to her two little kittens.
She groggily brushed her teeth and washed her face before she felt fully awake. Lily Hart then went downstairs to open for business.
Customers were already waiting early in the morning. As soon as she opened the RV door, they started clamoring, "Boss, bring out the tickets!"
Lily Hart quickly set out the scratch-off tickets for everyone to choose from.
"Boss, could you recommend a couple for me? I’ve been coming for days and haven’t scratched off any fruit. I just want to eat some fruit, please, do me a solid~" a man pleaded pitifully.
Seeing this, Lily Hart casually pointed to two tickets from the most expensive batch and said confidently, "Go on, scratch them."
Seeing how self-assured she was, the customer immediately bought the two tickets and started scratching furiously. To his surprise, he actually won a bunch of bright yellow bananas.
His face lit up with joy. He was thrilled even though only one ticket had a prize, and he thanked Boss Hart with a wide grin.
When the customers nearby saw this, they also started clamoring for Lily Hart to pick for them.
Lily Hart, of course, agreed. ’It’s good for business, isn’t it?’ Besides, it was all down to luck and had little to do with her choices.
She picked out two or three tickets for a few more customers. Miraculously, each of them won fruit on one ticket, while the others were duds. Still, everyone was very satisfied.
It was better than winning nothing at all, like before.
Lily Hart carefully examined her own hands, turning them over and over, but couldn’t see anything different about them. ’Is it their destiny?’
The system spoke up at the right moment: [Don’t doubt it. It’s because they were chosen by you. You are the owner of this lottery shop. If your willpower is strong enough, you can indeed alter the odds to a certain extent, like with yesterday’s three super prizes.]
Lily Hart only half-understood. Yesterday, she had been desperately hoping everyone would win good prizes because the crowd was large, and it would stimulate sales.
She never thought something as intangible as willpower could actually be useful.
One after another, people asked Lily Hart to help them pick scratch-off tickets, and she was happy to oblige. She had a relaxed attitude about it now; as the shop owner, she was naturally happy when her customers won prizes.
But the happy times didn’t last long. That tactless Base Commander showed up with his men again.
A roaring crowd of over a hundred people swarmed in and surrounded the RV. When the Base Commander had returned yesterday, his body was covered in tiny holes from the sunflower seeds. When he pulled them out, blood had gushed out like a fountain.
He tried to channel his internal energy to heal the wounds, but it was no use. The sunflower seeds must have carried some kind of pathogen, as the wounds gradually festered and itched. Medicine was useless.
Now, he couldn’t sit, lie down, or even lie on his stomach comfortably.
But to maintain his dignity, he endured the pain and sat in a wheelchair (even though it made him look even more ridiculous).
Lily Hart met his constipated expression and didn’t even try to hold back, placing her hands on her hips and bursting into laughter.
Ethan Gable roared, "Shut up!" but the movement pulled at his wounds. "Hiss..." He couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath.
He knew he couldn’t win a verbal argument with this Lily Hart, so he shot a meaningful look at the trusted subordinate standing beside him.
The subordinate, a skinny man, pulled out a worn-out megaphone and shouted at Lily Hart, his voice attempting to sound authoritative, "All outside personnel are to leave Spring-Watch Base immediately! Base residents are to return to the base at once! Otherwise, we will use armed force."
"All outside personnel are to leave Spring-Watch Base immediately! Base residents are to return to the base at once! Otherwise, we will use armed force."
"All outside personnel are to leave Spring-Watch Base immediately! Base residents are to return to the base at once! Otherwise, we will use armed force."
He repeated it three times in a row, his voice loud and grating. The customers inside the convenience store and bath center all peered outside. They recognized that voice. It was the Base Commander’s lackey.
Lily Hart wanted to laugh when she heard him. ’You want me to leave, so I’ll just leave? And you’ll attack me with weapons? Bring it on. You think I’m scared of you?’
She wasn’t afraid, but the base residents panicked when they heard it. If the Base Commander said it, it meant he’d actually do it. It wasn’t like he hadn’t done it before.
In no time, the people outside the RV, in the convenience store, and in the bath center had all but scattered.
The Zombie King looked displeased. The second floor had just opened, and he hadn’t even gotten to show anyone around before they all ran off. He strolled out of the bath center and saw a circle of people with weapons tightly surrounding the RV.
Meanwhile, Lily Hart, inside the RV, wasn’t scared in the slightest. She was just calmly sipping water and munching on a pear.
The Zombie King stomped his foot impatiently. The circle of superpower users all shuddered in unison, their bodies uncontrollably jolting upwards. They looked over in disbelief.
"Who’s there?" the lackey shouted sharply.
"Your grandpa," The Zombie King boomed. He then stomped his foot again. The ground trembled, and the circle of superpower users swayed on their feet, nearly losing their balance.
A few of them even spat up blood, their legs went weak, and they collapsed to their knees, dropping their weapons.
Ethan Gable watched, annoyed. ’I feed you and treat you well every day, and this is how you perform?’ As his irritation grew, the hundreds of tiny wounds on his body began to ache faintly.
Lily Hart naturally noticed this and gave The Zombie King an appreciative glance. ’I was going to drive them away myself, but since someone’s helping, I might as well take a break and enjoy the show, appreciating Ethan Gable’s twisted, ugly face.’
Ethan Gable snatched the megaphone from his lackey’s hands and bellowed, "Hart! I’ll say this one last time! Get out of Spring-Watch Base! This is my territory! Otherwise, don’t blame me for what happens next!"
Lily Hart also whipped out a megaphone and shouted back, taunting him, "Bring it on! Let’s see what you’ve got."
Ethan Gable was furious. With a grand wave of his hand, he roared, "Attack!"
The sudden movement made his wounds begin to itch and ache. There were at least a hundred tiny holes, but he only had two hands and didn’t dare to scratch.
He was afraid that scratching would only make it itchier and more infected. He could only try to rub his clothes against his skin to relieve the itch, his expression turning utterly foul.
Hearing the command, the superpower users surrounding the RV immediately aimed their weapons at it.
The customers, afraid of getting caught in the crossfire, had already slipped away to watch the spectacle from a safe distance.
These were the latest weapons developed by Central Command. They looked like guns but fired blasts of compressed air, and they were powered by Crystal Cores.
One blast of compressed air after another shot out. The residents watching from afar couldn’t help but stare, wide-eyed, their hearts pounding for Lily Hart.
Lily Hart stood her ground, her expression blank. She simply lifted her hand slightly, and in an instant, hundreds of vortexes appeared outside the RV.
