Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Gaining Fame
Tate Joyner began fusing with the card immediately. The next second, a layer of red flames engulfed his fist.
His eyes glinted with eagerness, and he seemed desperate to test out the card’s effect, but the butler’s gently warning voice stopped him.
"Sir, fighting is prohibited inside the establishment. Also, please do not forget the promise you made me."
The butler’s voice brought Tate Joyner back to his senses.
"Right, right, I won’t forget. By the way, can I take a few pictures here? I’m afraid the people on the forums won’t believe me."
Tate Joyner now saw the butler as the owner of this establishment, so he certainly didn’t dare to offend him. After all, if he wanted to get more cards in the future, he’d probably have to come back here.
"Of course. Feel free to take as many as you’d like."
As he spoke, he gestured to the fan-shaped wall of cards displayed behind him for decoration.
After happily snapping several photos, Tate Joyner opened the game forums and published a post he had prepared.
He didn’t just post on the forums; Tate Joyner also shared the news in several player group chats.
"Guys, I found a hidden gem of a shop! They actually sell cards!!"
Most of the people in one of the groups were just like him: players who, for various reasons, had never obtained a card.
So, the moment Tate Joyner sent his message, it instantly caused an explosion of activity.
"For real? You’re not just messing with us, are you?"
Tate Joyner knew they wouldn’t believe him, but luckily he was prepared. He had recorded the entire process of fusing with his card and sent the video to the group.
The chat exploded the moment people finished the video. Questions flooded in about everything: the shop’s address, the prices, and just what in the world was going on.
Seeing the message count jump to 99+ in the blink of an eye, a smug smile crept across Tate Joyner’s lips.
"It’s too much trouble to answer one by one. I posted the whole story on the forums. If you want to know, you can go check it out."
After sending that message, Tate Joyner left the group chat and turned to the butler. "Boss, I’ve sent the message out. I believe it won’t be long before they start showing up."
Upon hearing this, the butler smiled and offered his thanks. "Thank you."
Meanwhile, on the fourth floor, Perry Yates was snacking and browsing the game forums when she suddenly noticed a post that was blowing up.
The post’s title read: #Shocking! A Card Tavern has appeared in Drenfall!#
After clicking on the post, the first thing she saw was the fan-shaped wall made of twelve four-star cards.
At that point, Perry Yates was certain that this must be the post Tate Joyner had published.
Driven by curiosity, Perry Yates scrolled her mouse, ready to see what he had written.
’If he dares to bad-mouth the place, I’ll blacklist him.’
[As we all know, in the survival game, you can only bring items out after surviving for a full thirty days.
But for an ordinary person, how difficult is that?
As a player who has been through two rounds of the game, I am undoubtedly lucky because I survived. But since I withdrew early, I didn’t obtain any Card Abilities.
As an ordinary person, I had no confidence about the next game. Just when I was losing all hope, a bar called "The Card Tavern" suddenly appeared before me. It was like a gift from the heavens, descending from the sky...]
Perry Yates skipped past all the flowery descriptions of The Card Tavern.
This Tate Joyner had described his own experiences and inner thoughts in great detail.
The post’s popularity was skyrocketing, and everyone was asking for The Card Tavern’s specific address.
Perry Yates scrolled to the very bottom of the post, where she saw a line of small text.
[To get the specific address of The Card Tavern, please pay $99.]
Perry Yates was speechless.
She glanced at the comments below. They were all curses.
As for whether people believed him... Perry Yates watched the number of payments displayed below jump from double digits to triple digits in the blink of an eye.
She figured it wouldn’t be long before the bar had new customers.
With that in mind, Perry Yates changed her clothes, put on her mask, and went down to the first floor.
"Master."
The butler called out respectfully when he saw Perry Yates.
’Master sounds a bit weird.’
"Don’t call me Master from now on. Just call me Boss," Perry Yates said.
"Understood, Master."
Perry Yates was speechless.
Just then, the door was pushed open from the outside, and a young man with sharp features walked in.
"So this is The Card Tavern?"
A faint smile played on Perry Yates’s lips, but her tone was distant. "If you can’t read, I can get you a dictionary."
The young man faltered at her blunt words, but he quickly recovered and asked, "Do you really have cards here?"
"Of course."
Perry Yates moved behind the bar, poured him a drink, and asked, "What kind of card do you need?"
"Any kind is possible?" the young man asked.
"Of course not. This isn’t a wishing well. We can only sell you what we have in stock. If we don’t have it, you can either wait or try another one of our services: card customization."
The young man’s eyes widened when he heard Perry Yates mention card customization.
’Card customization... is it the kind of customization I’m thinking of?’
"Boss, may I ask, what exactly do you customize about the cards?"
"Attribute, level, anything can be customized, as long as you can afford the price. However, custom orders take longer, and you’ll need to pay a deposit upfront."
After hearing Perry Yates’s explanation, the young man’s eyes twitched. He asked again, "You can even customize the level? Can you make five-star cards?"
"Five-star item cards, yes. But Skill Cards can only go up to level four. Would you like to place a custom order?" Perry Yates asked with a grin.
She was wearing a golden Cat Face Mask, with only a small part of her mouth and her eyes visible. Her grin made her look just like a siren luring someone to their ruin.
Even though he knew he couldn’t afford it, the young man still asked about the price.
"For the price, a level-five item card requires 10,000 White Cards, or 1,000 one-star cards, or 100 two-star cards, or 10 three-star cards—and those have to be Skill Cards. Or, you can trade five four-star cards.
"Even though a custom Skill Card can only go up to level four, you can choose any combination of attributes, so it’s a bit more expensive. It requires 15,000 White Cards, or 1,500 one-star cards, or 150 two-star cards, or 15 three-star cards."
In addition, Perry Yates also introduced the functions of the second and third floors.
When he heard that he could learn information about the next game round in advance and even experience it ahead of time, the young man was so shocked he almost dropped his glass.
