As Perry Yates performed the Ascension on her cards, the Little Ferret kept watch by her side.
An ordinary black glasses card became a pair of golden glasses after its Ascension to one-star. Wearing them allowed her to view item information, but only three times per day.
As she performed more and more Ascensions, Perry Yates gradually came to understand the patterns behind it.
For instance, after their Ascension, most eye-related cards would gain a function like Identification, while shoe cards would grant acceleration...
Of course, there were some variations, but the general principles for most cards were more or less the same.
「Day Twenty-One of the game.」
The blizzard outside showed no signs of stopping; in fact, it was growing even more intense.
In just one day, Perry Yates could sense that a thick layer of snow had piled up outside the cave. Even the temperature inside began to drop.
The air vent she had intentionally left open was now blocked. While it didn’t cut off airflow completely, she couldn’t forget that she still had a fire burning inside the cave.
Both her own breathing and the burning fire required air.
To avoid suffocating in her sleep, Perry Yates had no choice but to manually clear the vent again.

Perry Yates was still performing Ascensions on her cards.
By now, she had run out of White Cards; all of them had been Ascended into one-star cards.
So now she was working on Ascending the one-star cards.

She spent half her time Ascending cards and the other half processing the prey from her Space Backpack.

All the one-star cards had been Ascended, and she was becoming increasingly proficient at processing her prey.
Perry Yates had no plans to continue Ascending her two-star cards to three-star.
Instead, she focused all her energy on processing prey and working on her own body, beginning to perform an Ascension on herself.
In Perry Yates’s own words, ’This energy is just sitting idle inside my body anyway.’
She started with her internal organs, then moved bit by bit to her limbs, and in the end, she didn’t even spare a single strand of hair.
Inside the tent, Perry Yates looked down at her own long, straight, fair legs. ’It seems they’ve gotten longer,’ she thought.
It wasn’t just her legs; her arms, neck, fingers, and hair—nearly every part she had performed Ascension on had grown longer.
Her hair, in particular. Every time she performed an Ascension, it would grow longer, and its quality and volume would also increase.
Perry Yates had always had decent hair, but it was on the finer side. Combined with the stress of high school, she’d experienced significant hair loss, which had affected her hairline.
But now, after several consecutive Ascensions, all these problems had been resolved.
Now, Perry Yates’s hair fell to her waist. It was like silk—dark, lustrous, and incredibly strong, without a single split end.

Perry Yates was jolted awake by the cold.
Her Tent Shelter had some insulating properties, and with the fire burning just outside, the temperature inside the cave had always remained quite stable.
It was cold, but bearably so.
But today, Perry Yates had been literally frozen awake.
The moment she opened her eyes, she felt as if her limbs were frozen solid. Her hands and feet were ice-cold; the only warm spot was the small area on her chest where the Little Ferret was curled up.
Perry Yates instinctively curled into a ball under the covers, but it did little to help.
Realizing this, with a mere thought from Perry Yates, a two-star card materialized in her hand.
After a flash of white light, a miniature sun appeared inside the tent.
The moment the miniature sun appeared, the area within a two-meter radius instantly grew much warmer.
Feeling warmth return to her body, Perry Yates finally let out a sigh of relief.
However, she couldn’t relax completely. The item had a time limit: it could only be used for eight hours a day and then required a twenty-four-hour cooldown.
To avoid freezing to death after the item expired, Perry Yates took out the cards she had sorted long ago.
Although nearly all the Skill Cards she obtained here were of the Ice Attribute, the item cards were mostly things that provided warmth. They were quite practical, especially after Ascension.
There were self-heating quilts, pillows, blankets, and even hot water bottles.
She changed into another set of thermal pajamas.
After doing all this, Perry Yates finally felt a sense of security.
When she woke up this morning, she had genuinely thought she was about to freeze to death.
Only now was Perry Yates in the mood to check on the situation outside.
The sight that met her eyes was a shock.
Treasure boxes. So many treasure boxes.

And all of them were emitting a golden-red glow.
’So tempting!’
Peering through her tent and the thick layer of snow, Perry Yates stared longingly at the treasure boxes outside, desperately wanting to claim them for herself.
But she couldn’t.
With only five days left, now more than ever, she had to hold steady.
’But... I can’t go out myself. Maybe I can try another way.’
A few of the treasure boxes were particularly close to her cave. ’I should be able to reach them with vines.’
Besides, the two cards she had fused earlier both possessed the Ice Attribute, which had given her vines some resistance to the cold.
’It’s worth a shot. It’s not like I lose anything if I fail.’ And if she succeeded, she would hit the jackpot!
No sooner said than done. Perry Yates began to use her vines to discreetly tunnel beneath the snow.
Progress was slow. After a short while, the vine would freeze solid, forcing Perry Yates to grow a new one to continue the excavation.
Luckily, the nearest treasure box was very close indeed. After about two hours of effort, she finally had the first one in hand.
The very instant she pulled the treasure box away, a dark shadow suddenly swooped down from the sky, giving Perry Yates a fright.
Watching the enormous, seemingly magnified bat descend from the sky and then quickly depart, a flicker of ’I knew it’ went through Perry Yates’s mind.
She knew there was something wrong with so many golden-red treasure boxes suddenly appearing outside. There’s no such thing as a free lunch.
However, that brief encounter also allowed Perry Yates to guess how those monsters identified their targets.
At this thought, the corners of Perry Yates’s mouth curved upward. Her gaze toward the treasure boxes outside was now filled with determination.
She opened the treasure box she had just acquired. Inside was a golden five-star card with the image of an Alchemy Furnace on its face.
Card Furnace: Can fuse two or more cards together.
