Chapter 32: Organization
For Violet, resting didn’t necessarily mean sleeping. As long as she wasn’t fighting, that was enough.
Enzo controlled Violet as she left her castle dressed in casual clothes.
Next, he planned to send her outside the Sanctuary. Before that, however, it was important to learn more about this world.
After all, his own knowledge was still limited. His powerful father had died before he had the chance to teach him much.
Violet headed toward one of the busiest areas of the Sanctuary.
Awakeners didn’t always enjoy adventuring once they realized how difficult it became to level up. Because of that, many spent their time simply enjoying life.
For those with D-Class or C-Class Talents, it wasn’t unusual to still be Level 10 even now.
One district of the Sanctuary was nearly as lively as a city center, even though its radius was much smaller.
Several restaurants and bars were gathered there.
Violet couldn’t hide the curiosity in her eyes, mirroring Enzo’s own expression.
The same expression appeared on the faces of those watching her. By now, practically everyone in the Sanctuary recognized her.
An S-Class Talent was incredibly rare, enough to make someone a celebrity within a Sanctuary.
’Looks like I can zoom the screen out even further,’ Enzo thought.
With a single thought, the System display expanded, widening its field of view until it covered a radius of nearly one hundred meters.
As a result, Violet naturally appeared much smaller.
She looked no different from a single soccer player viewed during a live broadcast.
However, as his Intelligence increased, Enzo’s eyesight had also become much sharper.
Even though Violet now appeared tiny on the screen, every detail of her figure remained crystal clear.
’Eh? Who are those guys?’
Enzo frowned in surprise.
With the wider viewing range, he spotted two suspicious men.
Both appeared to be around twenty-five years old. One had long curly hair, while the other was bald. Both wore sunglasses.
They were standing on the rooftop of a bar, obviously keeping an eye on Violet. Every now and then, they even took pictures of her.
Enzo couldn’t hear what they were saying because they were outside Violet’s hearing range, and he could only hear through her ears.
’They’re not Awakeners working as paparazzi... are they?’ he wondered with an odd expression.
Still, they didn’t really look like paparazzi. They seemed more like members of some organization.
’Yeah... it makes sense. There’s no way someone like Violet wouldn’t attract the attention of countless organizations,’ he thought.
Most of those organizations had been founded by powerful Awakeners with personal ambitions. Those who were genuinely selfless usually remained members of the Awakener Association instead of creating their own factions.
Organizations, on the other hand, would do anything if it benefited them.
Rumor had it that some of them conducted horrifying experiments, such as stealing Talents and Skills or enslaving other Awakeners through cruel methods.
Unfortunately, since they also include Awakener members who possess powers, the Awakener Association is unable to eliminate them. In fact, they’re able to act quite freely.
’I need to make sure no one thinks they can keep Violet under surveillance,’ Enzo thought.
People assigned to surveillance were usually weak. If they were strong, they wouldn’t be wasting their time on jobs like that.
At that moment, Enzo transferred his Strength Attribute to Violet.
Then, the red axe suddenly appeared in her hand, startling everyone watching.
Why would she suddenly draw a weapon in the middle of a crowded street?
Whoosh!
Violet hurled the axe toward the rooftop of a nearby bar.
It flew like a crimson meteor, smashing through the upper wall before piercing onto the rooftop.
The two suspicious men’s eyes widened.
Realizing the axe was aimed at them, they immediately fled.
In reality, both of them were only Level 13.
With weak Talents, that axe posed an overwhelming threat to them.
Fortunately for them, the distance gave them just enough time to dodge.
The axe then flew back toward Violet on its own at the same speed.
"Who are those guys?" someone wondered aloud.
"I know them. They entered the Sanctuary in the same batch as me. After reaching Level 13, they stopped venturing outside and started using their strength just to enjoy life. I heard they recently joined Night Valley," another person explained.
"Night Valley? That’s the organization founded by President Roberts. I’ve heard they’re suspected of kidnapping talented Awakeners, but nothing has ever been proven."
The moment President Roberts was mentioned, many people rolled their eyes.
Logan Roberts was his full name, the notoriously corrupt former President of America.
He wasn’t an Awakener himself, but during his presidency he had built a powerful organization and controlled numerous Awakeners.
Now he was in hiding, with no one knowing where he was. He had become one of the American government’s most wanted fugitives.
Violet frowned, reflecting Enzo’s expression.
Naturally, this story held special meaning for him.
It had been his own father who brought President Roberts down.
Without powerful Awakeners backing the effort, there was no way such a president would have fallen so easily.
’They deserve a lesson,’ Enzo thought.
The two men fled through a window into a closed restaurant, utterly confused about how they had been discovered, let alone attacked.
Meanwhile, Violet casually walked after them with the red axe still in her hand.
BANG!
Her kick shattered the restaurant’s front door.
The impact even cracked part of the wall beside it.
Black markings spread across her body as her Talent activated.
Against two Level 13 Awakeners with mediocre Talents, she didn’t even need to wear her B-Class Armor.
The two men were even more shocked that Violet knew exactly where they had run.
"What are you doing? You’re not allowed to attack people inside the Sanctuary!" the bald man shouted.
"Guards! Hurry! There’s a crazy Awakener trying to kill us!" the long-haired man yelled.
"I don’t think there’s anything wrong with beating up stalkers who secretly take pictures of me," Violet replied coldly before charging straight at them.
She crossed the distance in an instant.
Instead of using the blade, she struck both of their shoulders with the flat side of the red axe. Had she used the edge, their bodies would have been split in two.
Crack!
The sound of bones breaking echoed through the restaurant.
"AAAHHH!"
Both men screamed in agony.
"What is going on here?"
A large-built supervisor rushed over and demanded in a booming voice.
Disturbances inside the Sanctuary could never be ignored.
"They were secretly taking pictures of me," Violet answered calmly as she picked up their camera.
The camera’s screen still displayed several photos of her, so she simply held it up as evidence.
"We only took pictures of her! She had no right to attack us!" the long-haired man protested.
Apparently, he possessed a healing ability.
A faint green glow spread from the hand he placed on his injured shoulder.
The slight recovery was enough for him to speak again.
