Chapter 29: Dagger
Paul Walton was already waiting for Violet outside the door.
"Please come in. They’ll be here shortly," he said.
Inside, iced coffee with milk and a serving of French fries had already been prepared as snacks.
Violet walked in, sat down, and crossed her legs.
"Do you know how incredibly low the drop rate for an Ascension Crystal is? However, it’s said that those who obtain one are likely to obtain another in the future. It’s considered a sign of good fortune. Maybe if you roll the System Gacha today, you’ll get something valuable as well," Paul said as he took a seat across from her.
Violet frowned when she heard that.
"Are you sure?"
"I can’t say for certain. It’s only a theory about luck. But the System has often proven such theories to be true," Paul replied.
"I see. Then I’ll give it a try after I earn more SP today." Violet nodded. "By the way, I’ve already reached Level 10, which means I can leave the Sanctuary. But I heard that I have to form a team. The problem is that the other newcomers haven’t even reached Level 5 yet. Even if someone else reaches Level 10 today, I still don’t want to be in a group with anyone. So... can I go outside alone?"
"Well, your situation is unique, so I’ll allow it. But there’s no need to rush. You can still level up by hunting monsters on the second underground floor. It’s completely free because it’s reserved for talented newcomers. There are Level 12 and Level 13 Monsters there. Even reaching Level 11 will significantly increase your strength with an additional 40 Attribute Points," Paul explained.
"I’ll go there later." Violet nodded once again.
After an unknown amount of time, someone suddenly knocked on the door.
Paul immediately stood up and hurried over to answer it.
When he opened the door, a man in his thirties wearing a black suit was revealed. He had bright blond hair and an exceptionally handsome face.
"Jack? So it’s you," Paul said in surprise.
"I was curious about that assassin girl, so I wanted to meet her," the man replied, already looking at Violet with a faint smile.
Enzo felt uncomfortable when he saw that gaze.
This man looked like a successful playboy.
Unfortunately for him, there was no way he’d succeed in flirting with an ordinary man.
"Ahem..." Paul cleared his throat.
"Come in. Miss Muller has been waiting for her weapon."
Jack walked inside, a large suitcase suddenly appearing in his hand.
His eyes remained fixed on Violet as he gently placed the suitcase on the table.
"Take a look. This is the weapon best suited for an assassin," he said.
Without hesitation, Violet picked up the suitcase and opened it.
Inside was a black dagger curved like a crescent moon.
It was thin and unbelievably sharp.
Its sharpness was so overwhelming that merely looking at it made one’s neck feel as if it had already been sliced.
Even Enzo could sense it just by looking through the screen.
"You don’t need much strength to cut through steel with this dagger. And when it’s thrown, it absorbs the user’s Agility and accelerates itself with it," Jack explained.
Violet simply picked up the dagger and stored it directly inside her Storage Artifact.
Then she stood up and walked away.
She didn’t even say a single word.
Jack froze, while Paul chuckled softly.
"Jack, not every young woman can be charmed by you," Paul said.
"Do I really look like I was trying to charm her?" Jack asked, rolling his eyes.
"You absolutely do." Paul nodded.
Meanwhile, Violet returned to the Monster Prison.
Today, the newcomers seemed able to fight much longer than they had on the first day.
Besides their higher levels, some of the wealthier ones had also brought stamina recovery drinks.
Violet headed back underground and continued toward a door tucked away in a corner that stood slightly open.
Faint roars echoed from below.
They were the kind of roars capable of intimidating Low-Level Awakeners.
Violet descended the stairs with a curious expression.
When she finally reached the bottom, she discovered there were fewer than ten cells on this floor.
Each cell contained only a single Monster.
The wolves that had been brought in yesterday occupied several of the cells.
In fact, almost every cell housed a wolf.
Besides them, there was a five-meter-tall Humanoid Goat, as well as a Goblin with crimson skin instead of green.
It was a Fire Goblin, completely different from ordinary Goblins.
It was capable of unleashing enormous amounts of fire.
Although it stood only about 2.5 meters tall—shorter than the other monsters—it was actually a Level 13 Monster.
It appeared to be the strongest creature on this floor.
Naturally, Violet walked straight toward the Fire Goblin’s cell.
If she collected EXP and SP from the weaker monsters first, she might end up receiving fewer rewards after killing the Fire Goblin.
If she wanted the greatest gains, she had to challenge the strongest monster first.
This floor was free.
The cell door automatically opened as soon as Violet stood before it.
However, the price of free entry was that no weapon was provided.
Without hesitation, Violet stepped inside while releasing the insect drones to record everything.
As soon as the first gate closed, the second gate opened.
At that very instant, Violet shot forward with the black dagger in her hand.
She was unbelievably fast.
Anyone below Level 5 would most likely be unable to follow her movements.
But at that same moment, the Fire Goblin suddenly released countless spherical flames from every part of its body.
The heat was overwhelming.
Even Enzo hadn’t expected this.
High-Level Monsters truly couldn’t be underestimated.
Fortunately, Violet had already prepared for an attack while she was still airborne.
Shua!
Her body was suddenly pulled backward through the air at the exact same speed.
Naturally, she had pulled herself back using her Mana Threads.
While retreating, she threw her dagger.
Enzo was curious to see how the dagger would perform when thrown.
With Violet’s Talent, it automatically targeted the Goblin’s most vital point.
Whoosh!
The dagger was much lighter than a sword.
Empowered by Violet’s Agility, it flew at twice the speed, pierced into the sea of flames, and split it apart like a ship cutting through the ocean.
Shua!
Before the Fire Goblin even realized what had happened, the black dagger pierced straight through its heart.
