Chapter 20: Ghost
"I’ll come back tomorrow. By the way, is there anything you need?" John asked as he put the contract back into his briefcase.
"I need a new phone," Violet replied.
"Alright..." John nodded.
"Miss Muller, I almost forgot. Here are your ID card and Awakener card." Paul suddenly handed her two cards bearing Violet’s photo.
Without even looking at them, Violet accepted the cards and slipped them into her coat pocket.
"Then I’ll be leaving. I want to get some rest."
She stood up and walked away without waiting for a response.
After she left, John and Paul exchanged glances.
"I can’t figure out what’s going on inside that woman’s head," John said.
"She’s far too indifferent." Paul shook his head. "By the way, I just received a report. She beat someone up in the Monster Prison before meeting us."
"Really?"
"Yeah... All because that guy tried to apologize on behalf of his friend, but she thought he was just using her to curry favor with him. She’s unbelievably sensitive. Even Rebecca wasn’t like that."
"Hahaha! I’m sure she’ll end up beating plenty more people in the future. But honestly, that’s exactly the kind of personality that attracts attention. Controversy creates popularity."
Enzo had no idea they were talking about Violet after she left.
He immediately sent Violet back to her castle.
Meanwhile, he remained inside the guard post, creating accounts for her on every major social media platform using Violet’s email address.
Inside the castle, he positioned Violet sitting with one leg crossed over the other, her head resting against one hand in an arrogant-looking pose.
He then summoned his System interface, took out his phone, and snapped a picture of Violet by photographing the System screen.
The screen was as clear as a mirror, so the photo looked perfectly real.
He used it as Violet’s profile picture.
Afterward, he purchased blue verification badges for all of her accounts.
The requirements were simple: a photo of the owner holding their ID card, along with a monthly fee of ten dollars.
As soon as everything was submitted, every account was instantly verified.
"Ahhh..."
Enzo stretched lazily.
More people usually came to the Monster Prison at night.
That meant once they were finished, he’d have to clean the place again.
Although the work could be delayed, everything still had to be spotless before morning, or people would start complaining.
Fortunately, he wasn’t sleepy anymore.
He simply watched movies on his phone while waiting for the prison to empty out.
By midnight, the Monster Prison finally became quiet once again.
He stood up.
Just as he was about to leave, the prison gate suddenly opened again.
He couldn’t help frowning. This would only delay his work.
Fortunately, it was only Emma.
Enzo assumed she had come to collect his dinner tray.
He decided to wait until she left since he had no desire to interact with her.
Unexpectedly, Emma sat down on a nearby bench, crossed her legs, and removed her oversized black glasses, revealing a surprisingly beautiful face with sharp, inverted diamond-shaped features.
Considering her father was an exceptionally handsome man with countless women around him, it wasn’t strange that she was beautiful as well.
Her appearance had simply been hidden beneath her bookish style.
’What is she doing here?’ Enzo wondered.
There was nothing inherently wrong with it, but it still felt strange.
After all, who would come to relax inside a prison?
Only a few moments later, someone else arrived.
She was a beautiful woman with pale white skin and long, straight black hair, appearing to be around twenty-five years old. A long white robe draped over her graceful figure, giving her an exceptionally gentle and compassionate aura.
"Sister Camila."
Emma immediately stood up and greeted her respectfully.
"Once is enough tonight. Remember that. If you stay too long, you won’t remain human anymore."
The black-haired woman handed Emma a bottle filled with blue liquid that emitted faint blue mist.
"Yes..." Emma nodded as she accepted it.
The woman looked at her silently for a moment before letting out a soft sigh and turning away.
After she disappeared, Emma immediately walked past the guard post toward the staircase leading underground.
Without hesitating, she descended the stairs.
’What is she planning to do?’ Enzo wondered.
There was a reason he wasn’t responsible for cleaning the cells down there.
Even with the monsters imprisoned, the underground level was still dangerous.
Some Level 8 to Level 10 monsters possessed abilities that could seriously harm ordinary people with nothing more than a single glance.
’She can’t possibly be that reckless... can she?’ Enzo thought.
Curiosity got the better of him.
He left the guard post and jogged toward the underground entrance.
After all, he was already Level 5. Unless it was an extremely high-level monster, he didn’t have to fear merely being looked at.
He hurried down the staircase.
A loud crashing sound echoed through the corridor, causing him to quicken his pace.
"What..."
He froze when he saw a prison cell containing three Level 8 wolves locked in a vicious battle.
Two of the wolves looked confused, while the third attacked relentlessly, forcing the others to fight back.
Enzo glanced around but couldn’t find Emma anywhere.
There seemed to be only one possible explanation.
After several moments, the two wolves finally collapsed, leaving only the aggressive one standing.
A translucent glow suddenly emerged from the wolf’s body.
Then its body fell to the ground while the glowing light remained suspended in the air, gradually condensing into the upper body of a human made entirely of light.
It was none other than Emma.
Floating through the air like a ghost, she drifted toward the bottle of blue liquid, whose cap had already been removed.
Her transparent body slipped into the bottle as though it were nothing more than a spirit.
Enzo guessed it was Mana Liquid.
Every Awakener possessed Mana Liquid within their body.
Once extracted, its quantity became significantly greater.
Each person’s Mana Liquid also carried the unique characteristics of their own power.
Boom!
The bottle suddenly exploded apart as Emma instantly returned to her physical body.
Naturally, her human form was far too large to fit inside the bottle.
