Chapter 16: Level 5
DING!
(Insufficient balance!)
"Damn it!"
Enzo slammed his fist onto the bed as the notification echoed from the Sanctuary Card in Violet’s hand.
Forty thousand dollars still wasn’t enough.
He scratched his head in frustration.
Most newcomers from ordinary families probably wouldn’t even reach Level 10 within six months.
With no other choice, he topped up another fifty thousand dollars.
Fortunately, Violet had received three hundred thousand dollars in financial assistance.
DING!
($50,000 has been deducted from your balance. Remaining balance: $40,000!)
This time, the gate finally opened.
Violet stepped inside.
The wolves that had been lying on the ground immediately stood up, their savage eyes fixed on her as every strand of fur bristled.
One good thing about this floor was that the weapon rack stood right beside the second gate.
Unfortunately, it only contained swords.
Enzo thought a spear would have been much more suitable against wolves that moved so unpredictably.
The instant Violet grasped the sword, its blade flashed with a sharp gleam.
Although it was nowhere near George’s weapon, it appeared to be a D-Class Sword.
Violet stepped through the second gate as black markings spread across her entire body—the sign that her Assassin Super Talent had been activated.
Whoosh!
Without warning, two wolves lunged at her simultaneously from opposite sides.
They were unbelievably fast.
Violet chose to sprint straight ahead.
Even though she could predict their movements, dealing with two attackers at once at that speed wasn’t easy.
Fortunately, Violet was still faster despite being three levels lower.
She was receiving support from Enzo’s Agility, which was actually two points higher than her own.
In fact, she was nearly twice as fast as the wolves themselves, creatures that specialized in speed.
Just as the two wolves waiting ahead prepared to pounce—
Violet vanished.
Both wolves froze in confusion.
A moment later, she appeared beside one of the wolves behind her—not the pair in front, but one of the two that had attacked first.
Her sword thrust forward at incredible speed.
It pierced straight through the wolf’s heart.
The remaining three wolves could only stare in shock at the unexpected sight.
A faint smile appeared on Violet’s lips.
Did they really think it was easy to face an Awakener with an S-Class Talent?
As Violet’s level increased, the true power of her Talent became increasingly apparent.
Defeating monsters above her own level was becoming easier and easier.
"Come."
She openly taunted them.
Awoooo!
The remaining wolves howled furiously.
Their jaws opened wide.
Crackling clusters of lightning shot from their mouths toward Violet.
Enzo’s eyes widened.
They actually possessed elemental abilities.
The lightning bolts were even faster than the wolves themselves.
Against attacks like these, Violet was at a disadvantage.
Her Vitality was low.
Even after receiving Enzo’s Vitality, it still wasn’t particularly high.
The biggest problem was that her Talent offered no defensive advantages whatsoever.
Whoosh!
Violet immediately sprinted backward at full speed.
Fortunately, the wolves could only spit lightning.
They couldn’t coat their bodies with it.
Otherwise, they would have been far more terrifying.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The lightning exploded upon striking the floor.
Not a single bolt touched Violet.
However, one wolf charged straight toward her with its jaws wide open.
Only one.
Violet smiled coldly.
This was exactly the opportunity she wanted.
She had already predicted its attack.
Dropping to one knee, she allowed the wolf to leap over her.
Its claws slashed downward, attempting to rake across her back.
They fell just short.
At the same instant, Violet drove her sword upward through the wolf’s abdomen, piercing straight into its heart.
Another one died.
Without pausing, Violet rushed toward the nearest stunned wolf.
The overwhelming killing intent focused entirely upon it caused the beast to instinctively rear onto its hind legs like a human.
Even so, it still lashed out wildly with its claws.
But every movement had already been predicted by Violet—and by extension, Enzo.
She easily thrust her sword into its chest before ripping it free with brutal force, tearing its chest open.
A third wolf fell.
At the same moment, the last wolf attacked from behind while firing another bolt of lightning.
Violet immediately leaped into the air.
The terrain ahead would have slowed her if she had remained on the ground.
Although she successfully avoided the attack, the scorching heat from the lightning burned the lower part of her pants.
Even the skin on her leg was left red from the heat.
Violet couldn’t feel pain.
Neither could Enzo.
Even so, injuries like this directly drained Violet’s stamina.
She wasn’t durable.
Any wound immediately weakened her.
Even with higher Vitality, a Talent that provided no defensive benefits meant every injury carried serious consequences.
Fortunately, after releasing lightning twice, the final wolf was clearly exhausted as well.
Its breathing had become ragged.
Without waiting to land, Violet fixed it with an icy gaze.
Without even looking back, she swung her sword.
Its neck was severed cleanly.
The wolf’s head rolled across the ground.

"Phew..."
Enzo let out a long sigh after the battle ended.
The EXP gained had exceeded the amount required to level up.
More importantly, this time he had also earned fifty SP.
’I’ll save it for now... At least until I have five hundred,’ he thought, suppressing the urge to use the Gacha.
It wasn’t easy.
His overwhelming desire to obtain a high-grade reward constantly tempted him into believing that the next pull would surely give him something extraordinary.
