Chapter 14: Ring

"Th-That’s impossible... How could this be?" Bella stammered, staring at Enzo in disbelief.

"What did you do?" she almost shouted before lowering her voice after noticing the people around them looking their way.

"I’ll tell you... later..." Enzo replied with a faint smile.

Seeing other people shocked and bewildered was surprisingly satisfying.

"You should go first... I have to work. What would people say if you helped me? If your father found out, he’d probably scold me," Enzo added.

He placed a hand on her shoulder and gently turned her toward the exit.

Bella rolled her eyes.

"Fine, I’ll go. Call me if you need any help."

"Don’t worry, I’m not going to suffer." Enzo chuckled.

He knew Bella simply didn’t want him to have a hard time.

Bella finally left, and the others gradually followed.

Enzo took a deep breath.

’Transfer,’ he commanded in his mind.

Instantly, he felt his body become twice as powerful.

He had transferred all of Violet’s attributes to himself.

’If only I could transfer Talents and Skills as well,’ he thought.

Of course, he knew it wasn’t impossible. There should be such a skill inside the Gacha System.

Even though one hundred SP was enough for a single Gacha pull, the odds of obtaining something valuable were incredibly low. Even if luck favored him, he would probably end up with nothing more than a D-Class Weapon.

Carrying a mop, he entered one of the cells where Violet had killed five Goblins.

He wasn’t unaffected by the sight, but he had no choice except to endure it.

Awakeners had to get used to scenes like this.

Wanting to finish as quickly as possible, he grabbed the corpses by their arms and dragged all of them toward the disposal chute, a massive pipe built into the corner of the cell.

They were probably incinerated somewhere below. After all, no one would ever eat Goblin meat.

Afterward, he began mopping the bloodstained floor, which became spotless after only a few passes.

If he had still been an ordinary human, this job would have taken forever. Dragging Goblin corpses around was no easy task.

What an absurd job.

He moved on to the next cell, working much faster than before, determined to finish everything before noon if possible.

At least this kind of work didn’t tire him at all.

As he continued cleaning, he gradually lost track of time.

He wasn’t sure when he finally finished, but Emma still hadn’t arrived with lunch, so it was obviously not noon yet.

Only after completing everything did he finally feel relaxed.

Instead of returning to his guard post, he sat on a long bench outside and lit a cigarette.

After physical labor, nothing felt more satisfying than smoking.

The only thing missing was a cup of milk coffee.

After only a few drags, he saw Emma approaching.

Wearing her oversized glasses and twin braids, she carried a tray containing fries, a large fried fish, and stir-fried green vegetables seasoned with herbs.

She seemed to be in a hurry.

Enzo narrowed his eyes slightly.

"Eat."

She placed the tray beside him rather roughly before quickly walking away, as though something was making her uncomfortable.

Whatever it was, Enzo didn’t think much about it.

He carried the tray back into his guard post and quietly enjoyed his meal.

After lunch, he lit another cigarette.

Only then did he take out the ring Rebecca Morgan had given him.

The moment he held it, he immediately felt a connection forming with the ring.

Now that he was Level 4, he was finally qualified to use a Storage Artifact.

He focused his mind and looked inside.

However, what he saw only left him confused.

There was only a single ring inside.

It was crimson-gold in color, with a luxurious design resembling a star.

Enzo took it out of the storage space.

Despite looking metallic, it was almost weightless, yet unbelievably sturdy.

DING!

(Ring of Star: An SS-Class Artifact that conceals the power of the stars. It can only be used by those who are Level 71 or above. Forcing its activation below the required level will drain the user’s vitality until death.)

The notification left Enzo frozen.

Level 71?

When would he ever reach such a level?

Even his father, one of the strongest Awakeners in the world, had yet to attain it.

Besides, leveling became increasingly difficult at higher levels.

Accumulating EXP alone only worked until Level 30.

From Level 31 onward, EXP alone was no longer enough to level up.

’But what exactly is the power of the stars? Gravity? A supernova?’ Enzo wondered.

He had expected the artifact wouldn’t be easy to use.

Otherwise, his father wouldn’t have died.

Rebecca probably would have borrowed it for herself as well.

Using it below Level 71 required sacrificing one’s life.

Perhaps his father had done exactly that, trading his own life to destroy a powerful enemy.

’What if one of my characters used it instead?’ Enzo wondered again.

If his character died, he himself would remain alive.

However, he would lose something incredibly important.

After all, raising a character wasn’t easy.

A new one would start from Level 0, and he would still have to rely on the Gacha System to obtain another Talent.

’That’s not a good idea unless I have absolutely no other choice. Besides, there’s no point thinking about it now. I only have one character,’ he thought.
