Chapter 62: Chapter 62 Making Him Wait

Author

"What? Wolfe Industries got that land?" Alpha Enzo’s face went dark when his assistant told him the news.

He immediately sent a mindlink to his mate. "Nadia, did you talk to Elara like I asked?"

Nadia’s response came back shaky through their bond. "What’s wrong, Enzo? Did something happen?"

Alpha Enzo’s anger pulsed through the mindlink. "Dominic took the land we wanted today! I already made a deal with the Sterling family. But they told me it was off the table. When I asked why, they said it was because of Dominic!"

Nadia thought about slapping her stepdaughter yesterday.

Had she hit Elara one day, and Dominic started getting revenge the next? Would he really go this far for Elara?

"Enzo," her voice trembled through their mental connection, "maybe we should wait. He might give it to you as a mating gift. You’ll be his father in law after all."

"Are you serious?" Alpha Enzo’s fury blazed through the bond, making Nadia wince. "Nadia, you’re almost fifty. Stop being so naive."

"Stay in the pack house. I’m coming back right now!"

He cut the mindlink abruptly. He couldn’t handle this over their mental connection.

Alpha Enzo rushed home in thirty minutes. When he saw Nadia’s worried face, he got even angrier.

"What exactly did you say to Elara?" he asked.

Nadia’s eyes filled with tears. "Elara wouldn’t listen to me. She kept arguing until I couldn’t take it anymore. I slapped her yesterday."

"What?" Alpha Enzo exploded. "I told you to make peace with Elara , not hit her! Can’t you control your temper?"

No wonder the Sterling family said the land was completely unavailable now.

Alpha Enzo walked back and forth. "We’ll go see Elara together. Right now."

Nadia’s face went pale. "It won’t work. That girl is stubborn as a rock. Just like her father."

Alpha Enzo’s eyes got darker. "Then what do we do? Are you planning to cut ties with Elara forever?"

He stopped pacing and stared at his mate like she’d lost her mind.

Elara was about to become Luna of the powerful Wolfe Pack. Not using that connection would be crazy!

The Amber Pack had always been stuck in the middle. They had decent territory but nothing special. Other packs barely noticed them at council meetings.

But a connection to the Wolfe Pack would put the Amber Pack on the map. They could finally demand respect from the other Alphas. Get better hunting grounds. More business deals.

Alpha Enzo wouldn’t give up this chance. His wolf was already planning how to fix this mess. Even if they couldn’t use the Wolfe Pack to climb higher, they definitely couldn’t make the Wolfe Pack angry.

"If you won’t go see her, I will," he said firmly. His decision was final. His Alpha voice left no room for argument.

Alpha Dominic’s assistant looked uncomfortable when he saw Alpha Enzo in the lobby. His hands fidgeted with the papers he was carrying.

He cleared his throat nervously. "I’m sorry, Alpha Enzo, but our Alpha is booked today. Maybe you could come back another day?"

The assistant’s voice was polite but firm. He’d been given clear instructions.

Alpha Enzo put on a fake smile to hide his anger. His jaw was tight, and his eyes flashed with irritation. "Could you check when Alpha Dominic might be free? Or I could wait until he finishes his meetings. I have all day."

He spread his hands in what was supposed to look like a reasonable gesture. But his fingers were tense.

The assistant noticed the forced casualness. He studied the Alpha’s face, looking for signs of trouble. "Okay. But I should warn you, I don’t know when Alpha Dominic will be free."

His tone suggested it could be a very long wait.

Alpha Enzo’s smile got tighter. "I’ll wait in the lounge then." His voice was still friendly, but there was an edge to it.

The assistant hurried back to Dominic’s office quickly.

He knocked twice and entered without waiting. "Alpha Dominic, Alpha Enzo says he’ll wait for you today."

Dominic looked up from his computer. A cold smile appeared on his lips. "Let him wait then."

He turned back to his computer like the conversation was over.

The assistant hesitated. "Alpha he seems... determined. Should I—"

"I said let him wait." Dominic’s voice was soft but dangerous. "All day if he wants."

His fingers drummed once on the desk. That was the only sign of his anger.

[What was the rush?

His Luna had been hurt, and he was going to make it right. Nobody messed with what was his.]
