Chapter 130: Chapter 130 The Alpha’s Blind Spot

Author

The next day, Alpha Zack received an unexpected confrontation from one of his friends.

"Zack, your niece was working the pack grapevine pretty hard yesterday, asking around for Dominic’s contact info. What’s that about?" His friend cornered him with a knowing smirk.

Alpha Zack’s expression darkened. "You’re certain it was Hannah?"

Within seconds, someone in their group chat dropped a screenshot. "See for yourself. That’s her profile picture, right?"

The cute cartoon rabbit avatar was unmistakably Hannah’s.

Zack tried reaching Hannah through their pack mindlink first, but got no response. Frustrated, he drove straight to the family compound.

He ran into Marcus just as the older man was heading out.

"Marcus, have you seen Hannah? She’s not responding to mindlink."

"Oh, Hannah’s upstairs. Said she stayed up too late last night and needs to catch up on sleep."

Of course she stayed up late—probably spent half the night working every connection in the pack’s social network to track down Alpha King’s information.

[The man was about to get married, for the Moon Goddess’s sake. What was she thinking?]

Zack stormed up the stairs two at a time. He stopped outside Hannah’s door, forcing himself to take a steadying breath before motioning to one of the household staff.

"Wake her up," he ordered curtly. "Tell her I need to speak with her. Now."

The maid knocked softly and disappeared into the room.

Hannah emerged with wild bedhead, shooting Zack a look that could have curdled milk. "Uncle Zack, I was sleeping. Whatever crisis you think we have, couldn’t it wait until a decent hour?"

"No, it can’t. Study. Now. We’re settling this."

Hannah’s wolf felt uneasy as anger rolled off her uncle in waves. Her feelings toward him were complicated these days.

She used to look up to him, but lately he kept disappointing her.

Yesterday, she knew right away that Elara’s workplace drama was Selina’s fault. And why was Selina targeting Elara so hard? All because of this man standing in front of her.

She shuffled after him reluctantly, kicking at her slippers with each step.

"What’s so important that we can’t talk out here? Why the study?" she grumbled.

Alpha Zack closed the heavy door behind them.

The study was where serious pack business happened. Where people got lectured and punished.

Hannah knew exactly what this meant.

"Hannah, you’re not a child anymore. You’re twenty-three years old. Time to act like it." Zack’s voice carried his Alpha power, making the air feel heavy and thick. "I told you to stay away from Alpha King. You completely ignored me, didn’t you?"

He started pacing behind the big desk, his movements sharp and angry. "Why were you looking for him yesterday?"

The accusation in his tone made Hannah explode. "Zack, you have the nerve to ask me that?"

She planted her feet firmly, her small body shaking with rage. "I reached out to Alpha King because he’s ten thousand times more reliable than you!"

Zack’s eyes flashed gold. His wolf was pushing to the surface. "That’s how you speak to your Alpha?"

Hannah let out a bitter laugh. "Alpha? ”

She waved her hands wildly, her whole body trembling. ”Yes, you act like you’re better than everyone else. You look down on people who don’t meet your perfect standards. ”

Her voice got stronger and more confident. ”But Alpha King has never hurt anyone on purpose. Can you say the same about how you treated Elara?"

Zack went completely still. He stopped pacing. The mention of Elara’s name hit him hard, but he tried not to show it.

Hannah’s voice shook with anger and hurt. "I could say so much more about what kind of person you’ve become. But honestly? You’ve completely let me down. ”

She wiped at her eyes, angry that tears were starting.” Just marry Selina and leave Elara alone. To her, you’re just a toxic ex now. Less than nothing!"

This was the first time anyone had ever talked to Alpha Zack like this. And it was his own niece.

The girl he’d helped raise. She used to admire him and look up to him.

He’d expected her to make excuses about contacting Alpha King.

Instead, she was tearing him apart with her words. It hurt more than any physical attack.

But what the hell did any of this have to do with Elara? Why was Hannah suddenly so invested in defending some woman who meant nothing?

Zack yanked at his tie, the silk suddenly feeling like a noose around his throat. His expression went ice-cold, all warmth draining from his features.

When had he ever given a damn about Elara?

She was a convenient distraction, nothing more. Did Hannah seriously believe that woman could survive in the real world without his protection and resources?

A slow, predatory smile curved his lips, but there was no warmth in it.

It was the kind of smile that had made rival Alphas think twice about crossing him in business deals.

Elara wouldn’t last five minutes playing independent. Her little rebellion would crumble soon enough, and she’d come crawling back with her tail between her legs, begging him to take her back.

He was absolutely certain of it.
