Chapter 489: Controversy.
After they reached inside the mansion, they were greeted by a butler who responsible for attending to the mansion. The person stepped up and opened the door for them. When Leo got down with the kids, he smiled and bowed his head before he said, "Mister Cail is waiting for you in the living room."
Leo nodded and followed the man while Kyle took out the stroller from the trunk of the car. He pushed them inside slowly, while looking around the place. This was basic curiosity when you are buying a new product. The decorations were simple, but they looked good, and after crossing the foyer, they walked inside the living room and found a middle aged man sitting on a couch.
He smiled and stood up as he said, "Welcome, Lord Cardinal."
Leo nodded and stepped up to shake hands with him. Kyle was standing beside the twins, alert. The two men sat down and Cail said, "Mister Cardinal, I have only one request, the staff of this house has been here for the past decade and they have never complained to me. I hope that you retain them."
Leo replied, "I don’t mind retaining them but I would like to vet them properly. I hope you understand that."
Cail nodded with a calm face, and then he asked, "Would you like to have a meal first or shall we sign the agreement first."
Leo checked his watch and said, "We can sign the agreement then have the staff take care of the legal proceedings, before the government offices close."
Cail nodded and turned to the side before a few people came over holding files. After a quick read, Leo signed the document and after that the people retreated, they needed to get these documents attested by the government registrar.
The men got involved in conversation related to their businesses, and Cail also received the notification for the money transfer. He smiled and said, "Mister Cardinal, you are very quick. Thank you."
Leo shook his head and replied, "No, it is just the banks. Well, Mister Cail, I am still waiting for the lunch."
Cail froze and then chuckled as he said, "Come this way please."
They went to the dining room, and the feast was served, Leo ate with a calm expression, he liked the taste but it was still something that needed some finesse, his own skills have upgraded to a very high level. The meal came to a close, and Leo fed the twins their milk shake from the small bag, and then had a small talk with Cail, after which the latter just stood up, shook hands with Leo and went away.
Leo watched the man leaving and then he turned to look at Kyle, "Change the security system, debug the cameras, swipe the entire compound, every inch of it and get me some sentry stations for the terrace."
Kyle nodded and Leo turned to look at the old butler and asked, "Uncle, what is your name?"
The old man was surprised but he replied, "My name is Wong Yuan, Sire."
Leo nodded and asked, "Can I ask you to compile the details of all the staff members? Including the temporary ones."
Wong Yuan nodded and said, "I will have it compiled for you by the morning."
Leo nodded and said, "In some time, many people would be coming over, please make sure that they cooperate with the operations of the people."
Leo took a deep breath and then he turned around, before he pushed the stroller around and replied, "We will come back here in the noon tomorrow, and in the meanwhile, have the boys come here. I will ask for a permission from the governmental departments for a door in the wall. That will save us some time."
Obviously, imagine them taking the main road to move from one house to the other, what sort of shenanigan it would seem like. The people returned home, and then Leo gave the twins a bath and massaged them before he put them to sleep and went to pick up Lily. When they were coming back home, Lily said, "Umm Baba, I think you have a situation to deal with?"
Leo raised his brow and the little girl passed him the tablet. Looking at the content Leo frowned, and then he called Utopia Research Centre, sure enough, the usually instant reply didn’t come through, it was delayed, but when the call connected, it was not the person Leo expected to talk to, he asked, "Who are you?"
The other person replied, "I am Carter Shain, President Cardinal, I am the Deputy Director of the space exploration program."
Leo raised his brow and before he could ask what happened to the Director, the other person replied calmly, "Well, President, we have a situation which doesn’t look good."
Leo hummed and said, "Explain."
That one word carried all the dominance, and the person sighed before he said, "Sir, the Director took a day off, he called in sick, but today he didn’t come to work, on the contrary, there is a rumor flying around on the internet that we have found signs of alien life. I am not sure what to say, we have asked the security team to look for the Professor, but nothing has turned up till now."
Leo nodded and replied, "Fine, I am sure that the Media must be hounding you guys so issue a statement with the first probe images, and tell them you found something similar to a debris sight on a meteor, and tell them how long it took that meteor to reach our system and deny it all until we have conducted tests and the Secondary probe reports raise any flags. Tell them we will reserve the right to sue them for Slander and Liable."
The deputy director nodded and the call disconnected, then the young man took a deep breath before he called Markus. The answer was instant, and Markus said, "Sir, we detected the word regarding Alien life, and looking into it, I found that someone is cause trouble for us. I am heading out towards the location of the guy who last saw the Professor. I will input you on the situation quickly."
Leo nodded with a smile and said, "Fine, keep me posted."
Markus hummed in agreement and disconnected the call. After a few minutes, he took a deep breath and sighed, "Each and every day, someone would wake up and decide, ’Let’s make life hard for Cardinal’ punks each one of them."
Lily chuckled and said, "Baba, you make it sound like the world is your enemy."
Leo nodded with a sincere gaze and replied, "Yes, they are all my enemies apart from you, Ma, Elle and Jules."
Lily smiled and her eyes turned to crescent. After a few minutes, they reached home, and Leo had Lily freshen up before he made her some food, and then Lily was put to bed for a nap. He leaned back in the couch and sighed, he raised the communicator and began to check on a few things. Although Markus had gone out, he felt that this matter was no so simple.
After thinking about it, Leo called, Markus’s sister, the call connected quickly and then he gave her some instructions, she worked in the intelligence agency of the Eagle Nation, and after a few minutes, the call ended, he tracked Markus’s movement before he turned to look behind him and found Alpha standing there silently.
He said, "Alpha, can you use the remote uplink and try to track all the movements Markus is making, and also in his surroundings, run a deep scan of what kind of people are there. If you detect any danger, give him a flag and lead him out."
The robot nodded and said, "Yes, Sir."
Leo didn’t know why, but this time things didn’t seem this simple, and he made his way to the gym. He wanted to distract himself from the situation that was not under his control but he had no way to. Even when he was lifting heavy weights, his mind drifted to Markus and his situation.
The young man frowned, and just when he thought, that everything was just his over thinking, Alpha came in and said, "Sire, there are several people in the area, Mister Markus is pulling out of the area."
Leo stopped and said, "Run a track on all the people and locate their origins."
Alpha replied, "Yes."
The young man stopped speaking and then he picked up a towel. Alpha stood silently, his fans whirring quickly, after a few minutes, Alpha said, "Sir, they are from eagle nation, special ops, all of them."
Leo frowned and asked, "Markus retreated to safety?"
Alpha nodded, and Leo called Markus as he said, "I know what is going on, get out of there, and put together a team, we are going in to teach these fuckers from the Eagle Nation a lesson, I have had enough of this."
Markus was surprised, but then he said, "Yes, Sir."
