Chapter 311: Five Points and Twelve Percent

The witness carriage left the command house before sunrise on the second morning after its opening, carrying copied records beneath three separate custody seals.

Hans rode beside the driver with his wrapped leg stretched across the front board. Cassie kept the mountain testimony case upon her knees, while Loccy guarded the campaign ledgers from the seat opposite her.

Juna sat beside Hajin near the rear door, preventing every road jolt from reaching his injured side. Vella occupied his other side with two fingers pressed against the pathways below his right shoulder.

"You checked those before we left," he said, watching another treatment thread enter his arm, "did the road damage them through spite?"

"The road lacks that much personality," she replied, following the returning gold thread, "you possess enough for both of you."

Seven full days had passed since his fourth Ring opened inside Dreth’s Zone. He had kept every halo closed afterward, even when workers asked him to lift collapsed braces near the command house.

Vella withdrew the thread before the carriage reached the eastern bridge, finding no fresh split along either injured route. The deeper burns remained visible through Divine Eye, but mana crossed them without catching against torn edges.

"Ordinary channeling is cleared," she said, closing his shirt over the fading treatment marks, "three Rings only when somebody deserves to die, four when the mountain deserves company."

"That sounds medically precise," Hajin replied, rolling his shoulder once, "did Mara approve the mountain category?"

"Mara suggested I hit you first," she said, settling against the carriage wall, "I reduced her treatment plan."

Loccy looked up from the sealed case, raising her hammer slightly before Juna pushed its head back toward the floor.

"She probably meant after he ignores you," Loccy said, keeping both hands around the shaft, "should I wait for proof?"

"You are the proof," he replied, moving his feet beyond her reach, "the treatment plan is becoming organized."

The carriage cleared the bridge while Hans passed the departure receipt through its guarded post. Once the road straightened, Aria unfolded a status panel above Hajin’s open palm.

[ Seven-day Ring recovery completed ]

[ Rings: 4 ]

[ Base Stat Multiplier: 5.0x ]

[ Injury-imposed 180-second manifestation limit: cleared ]

[ Fixed four-Ring duration: none ]

[ Output remains limited by available mana and pathway strain ]

[ Ring 5 Progress: 26,200,000 / 50,000,000 EXP ]

[ Unassigned Stat Points: 5 ]

Nothing appeared beneath the Ring count granting a Zone, summon slot, or automatic attack. The fourth halo increased everything Hajin could personally drive through his body, which remained dangerous enough without inventing another reward.

"The system lets me divide them between mana, stamina, or physical capacity," he said, turning the allocation panel toward Aria, "three into mana, two into stamina."

"You could make the part carrying the disaster less fragile," Juna said, tapping his chest with one claw, "that would annoy Vella less."

"Nothing will accomplish that," Vella replied, checking the choice before he confirmed it, "but two points might reduce my workload."

Hajin accepted the allocation once both injured pathways remained clear beneath her thread. Power settled through his core without filling it, while the exhausted portion of his stamina stayed exactly where the journey had spent it.

[ Stat allocation confirmed ]

[ Mana: +3 ]

[ Stamina: +2 ]

[ Health restored: 0 ]

[ Mana restored: 0 ]

[ New ability gained: none ]

The change widened what his core could hold after recovery, then reinforced how long his body could sustain that output. It did not close a wound, refill a reserve, or make four Rings suitable for ordinary work.

"Good," Aria said, sitting above the panel with one leg crossed over the other, "now we can remove ’forgot five permanent points’ from tomorrow’s hearing record."

"You wrote that into the record?" Hajin asked, closing the allocation screen, "I thought you were helping me."

"I am helping the version of you who survives repeated breakthroughs," she replied, opening a second audit pane, "he appears to need documentation."

The new panel reached back to the last complete Fragment audit after the corrupted Gate. Every later soul-energy entry had remained recorded, although war reports plus Ring progression had prevented a full reconciliation.

[ Goddess Soul Fragment Recovery Audit ]

[ Previous verified total: 10.00% ]

[ Reconciled sources: public anomaly Gate dissolution / fourth Ring evolution / accumulated Stream soul energy ]

[ Recovered essence: +2.00% ]

[ Current Fragment Recovery: 12.00% ]

[ EXP gained: 0 ]

[ Additional ability unlocked: none ]

[ Unknown Designation - Ash: unresolved / no measurable progression ]

Warmth crossed the Fragment behind his core, remaining there without producing a voice or projection. The sealed presence felt less distant for several seconds, then settled beyond anything he could reach.

Stream comments crowded the panel once Aria released the completed percentage to the broadcast.

[ LoreSeeker99: ] Twelve percent after everything since the last audit means recovery is tied to more than combat rewards.

[ CringeSlayer91: ] FOUR RINGS FIVE TIMES BASE POWER AND HIS RESPONSE IS MORE STAMINA FOR PAPERWORK

[ ashley (Mod): ] The panel explicitly says zero restoration or extra ability, read before inventing a fifth-ring rumor.

[ RationalSkeptic7: ] The fixed three-minute restriction belonged to his injuries inside the Zone, not the permanent fourth Ring.

Hajin dismissed the comments before somebody converted Vella’s medical threat into another theory. Twelve percent was progress, although the missing eighty-eight remained a better description of the problem.

At the final road station, a guild clerk compared every witness against the hearing request before attaching blue entry ribbons. He stopped at Cassie’s mountain case, checking its interior-witness seal against the separate exterior reports.

"You crossed the Gate before the mountain split?" he asked, keeping both hands away from the sealed latch, "the hearing needs your location recorded again."

"I entered with Hajin’s party," Cassie replied, holding the case against her knees, "Jonas plus Toby were inside too, we saw the gallery and the valley before he went down."

"Outside defenders saw the blast, ejection, then disappearance," Hans said, passing over the separate militia packet, "none of them claimed sight through the Gate."

The clerk marked both accounts under different evidence classes before returning their cases untouched. Hajin had expected the capital to inflate the feat, but somebody inside the guild preferred a result that could survive hostile questions.

The capital walls appeared beyond the final road station before midday traffic reached its peak. Guild riders met the carriage outside the eastern gate, checked every custody seal, then escorted the witnesses toward the central hall without opening their cases.

Crowds recognized Juna’s ears before noticing the provisional badge against Hajin’s coat. The number ninety-six drew more pointing than his white hair, which meant news of the mountain plus Flint campaign had arrived ahead of them.

Inside the guildhall, Allen waited beside a closed hearing chamber with Vice Guildmaster Garret holding the submitted witness list. Three unfamiliar senior Rankers had signed the attendance sheet, while two royal recorders occupied the seats beyond the guarded doors.

"They started arguing before you reached the city," Allen said, looking from Hajin toward the sealed campaign cases, "one side thinks ninety-six is embarrassing, the other thinks the correction will be worse."

"Which side invited me?" Hajin asked, removing the silver badge from his coat, "I would prefer to disappoint them efficiently."

"Both," he replied, opening the chamber after the recorders confirmed every witness, "bring the number they intend to kill."

Hajin entered with the provisional badge resting in his palm, while Hans plus Cassie carried the first two sealed accounts behind him.
