Chapter 278: Loccy’s Wall
Hajin reached the western wall walk after the siege ram had broken through its first outer brace.
Nine militia defenders lay behind the parapet with new treatment markers, while one body remained beside the shattered support.
Bren had carried casualty frames out of Dreth’s Zone without taking a wound, then returned to the wall before resting.
The ram’s first iron bolt had entered beneath his raised shield, killing him before the clinic team reached the stairs.

Hajin opened one Ring around his right forearm, placing Aegis above the wounded while wall crews dragged them toward cover.
Hans stood beside the treatment stair with blood across one sleeve, keeping his route board against the remaining brace.
"The first impact broke Bren’s section and threw nine defenders off the walk," he said, pointing beyond the red stakes, "Loccy stopped us rebuilding inside her boundary."
"She needs the enemy trench intact," Hajin replied, following its connections through the approaching frames, "move every patient behind my barrier."
Hans sent the remaining shield crews toward the inner stair, leaving the open breach to Loccy without adding another body near her strike.
Below him, two Flint shield companies advanced behind six shock-dampening frames with the ram between their lines.
Every frame stood on separated footplates, breaking the connected ground that Loccy had collapsed beneath the Gate brood.
Layered springs absorbed her earlier hammer strikes before passing their remaining force into a trench beyond the first company.
The formation had been built from Dreth’s report, turning her strongest known answer into power for their next ram swing.
Loccy waited outside the broken brace with two Wings open, resting her hammer head behind Hans’s nearest red stake.
The enemy trench began several paces beyond that marker, connecting all six frames plus the ram approach until a rear supply gap.
Forty soldiers remained across that gap with withdrawal ropes, while eighty advanced through the linked siege section.
"They separated the plates from the road," Hajin said, reading each dampening joint through Divine Eyes, "but their trench connects the release underneath."
"I saw it," Loccy replied, rolling one shoulder while the ram crew reset, "Hans already told me which ground belongs to us."
She pointed the hammer toward the red stakes without stepping past the nearest one.
"Nothing behind those markers moves," she said, planting both feet beside the wall brace, "everything beyond them chose the wrong trench."
The first shield company opened around the ram, giving its full crew room to drive the reinforced head toward Loccy.
Archers released above it while shock frames lowered clamps into the support trench, completing the connected siege structure.
Hajin widened Aegis across the wall, catching every arrow aimed toward the treatment crews without covering Loccy’s position.
She opened her third Wing when the ram crossed Hans’s red line, filling the breach with pale-gold light plus dark fault marks.
Three insignia rings locked around her hammer as she raised its shaft across both hands to meet the iron head.
The collision drove her feet into the wall approach, cracking the enemy side of the marker without shifting its red stake.
Shock springs compressed through all six frames, sending the ram’s weight back toward Loccy after the first impact stopped.
Her third Wing darkened along every fault line while the hammer rings pulled that returning force away from her shoulders.
[ Burdenfall: Impact Stored ]
[ Valid Release Structure: Connected Siege Trench — 61 paces ]
The ram crew pushed again, expecting the dampening frames to exhaust her before another ground strike reached them.
Loccy stepped out of the holes beneath her feet, caught the ram frame below its head, then lifted its front axle.
Six crewmen released their grips as the entire machine rose, leaving its rear wheels above the trench supports.
"You brought me a bigger hammer," she said, turning beneath the frame, "I am keeping the useful part."
She threw the ram through the opened shields, carrying its iron head across the first company’s center.
Armor collapsed beneath the frame while its rear beam swept a second rank into the shock plates behind them.
The remaining forward fighters tried separating from the trench, but their clamps still held every frame inside the same structure.
Loccy turned her hammer downward before the ram finished crossing the first formation.
Both feet settled beside Hans’s marker, placing the wall plus treatment stair behind the boundary she had declared.
"Stop here," she said, striking the connected trench beyond the red stake, "the wall is mine."
Burdenfall entered beneath the first frame, releasing the stored ram impact through all sixty-one occupied paces.
The trench folded inward from both sides, pulling dampening plates plus shield ranks into the same opening.
Each shock frame tried distributing the force, causing its footplates to drag another section down before breaking apart.
The ram disappeared beneath the center as the connected support road dropped, leaving a crater across the entire siege lane.
Nothing moved behind Hans’s red stakes, while the wall brace remained standing beside Loccy’s buried feet.
Dust cleared from the treatment stair first, showing every wall worker still inside Hajin’s barrier behind the unchanged boundary.
Hans checked the red stakes before lowering his route board, confirming none had shifted during the trench collapse.
Forty rear soldiers cut their withdrawal ropes across the supply gap, then ran before the collapse reached another connected surface.
The crater’s center killed forty-two active attackers beneath frames, armor, plus the ram they had continued driving forward.
Thirty-eight survived along its edges with broken equipment or limbs, leaving none able to continue the assault.

No fourth Wing opened behind Loccy, leaving the three existing spans above the crater while their edges faded.
She tried raising her hammer once, but both arms hung beneath her shoulders after Burdenfall emptied its stored recoil.
"My fingers still work," she said, trapping the shaft against her side, "someone else needs to bind the people down there."
Hajin lowered Aegis steps into the crater after every enemy weapon stopped moving, giving militia teams a safe custody route.
Thirty-eight living attackers surrendered their weapons under Hans’s outside disarm rule before treatment crews marked their injuries.
The forty who withdrew crossed back into Corven’s encirclement, remaining inside the active siege count rather than disappearing.
A forge alarm rose beyond the worker lanes while another horn answered from the clinic approach.
Hajin left Loccy behind the intact red stakes, taking the interior wall stair toward Ferra’s closed sector.
