Chapter 248: Chapter 151: Let’s See How You Dodge Now

Yin Guang stared, dumbfounded, at the apocalyptic scene of destruction in the distance. His head was buzzing, and his mind went completely blank.

Even from such a great distance, he could feel the terrifying pressure.

The oncoming blast wave made his long robes whip and snap violently.

"Wha—what is that?!"

In the previous battles, Yin Guang had thought he’d already witnessed Pei Ze’s true power, but now he realized he had still vastly underestimated him.

If Pei Ze had unleashed an attack like this before, he probably could have wiped the Turin Defense Works right off the map.

The lightning gradually dissipated, slowly revealing the scene within.

Where the flat plains had once been, there was now a massive, charred crater over a kilometer in diameter. Its surface was covered in a crystalline layer, formed from sand and dirt that had melted and then solidified under the intense heat, and it glinted faintly in the sunlight.

Of the dozen or so Combat Priests who had been so imperious just moments before, only Maynard remained. The rest had been utterly annihilated, not even dust left behind.

The other Fourth-Class Priest, besides Maynard, was also gone without a trace.

Only Maynard, who had activated his quasi-Divine Artifact at the last possible second to encase himself in solid ice, managed to survive.

CRACK!

The ice shattered, showering to the ground as Maynard’s figure was revealed once more.

The mask on his face had long since shattered, revealing an aged face.

Looking at the empty surroundings, his face twisted with a mixture of shock and fury.

"You damned little bastard!"

Maynard whipped his head around, his bloodshot eyes glaring at Pei Ze with a look that promised to drink his blood and devour his flesh.

A dozen or more Combat Priests were dead. He had no idea how he would explain this to the Bishops when he returned.

Even if he killed Pei Ze, he would surely face severe punishment afterward.

At this thought, a blazing killing intent erupted in his eyes.

"Die!"

With a furious roar, twelve Lotus Ice Crystals suddenly materialized behind Maynard.

With a flash of white light, each Ice Crystal shot out a beam of chilling light. The twelve beams intertwined, forming an inescapable net that swept toward Pei Ze.

Pei Ze gave a cold smile, and his figure instantly vanished.

When he reappeared, he was already behind Maynard, his fist wreathed in blazing lightning as it smashed down.

Sensing the immense threat from behind, Maynard’s expression changed drastically. One of the Ice Crystals floating behind him suddenly shattered, transforming into a translucent ice shield.

BOOM!

The lightning-wreathed fist slammed into it. With a sharp crack, the ice shield shattered, but the lightning dissipated along with it.

Pei Ze raised an eyebrow in surprise.

’That defense is pretty solid.’

He didn’t know that Maynard was already horrified beyond belief.

The quasi-Divine Artifact’s power was immense, far more than his own strength could fully unleash. At most, he could only mobilize a portion of its energy, which manifested as the twelve Ice Crystals floating behind him.

Once all the Ice Crystals were consumed, the quasi-Divine Artifact would enter a dormant state. He would have to personally pray before a divine statue, nurturing it with the Power of Faith for some time before it could be used again.

Since obtaining this quasi-Divine Artifact, the most powerful Wizard he had ever faced had only managed to make him expend eight Ice Crystals.

He had never encountered someone like Pei Ze, who could shatter an Ice Crystal with a single punch!

’Damn it! What the hell is with this guy?’

’He’s clearly just a Level 1 Wizard, so how is his combat power even greater than a Second-level Wizard’s!’

Horrified, Maynard didn’t hesitate to expend another Ice Crystal.

A bone-chilling cold descended in an instant. A frigid wind howled as frost-white snowflakes abruptly began to fall from the sky.

A layer of hard ice quickly formed over the charred, massive crater.

In the blink of an eye, the area for a kilometer around had turned into a world of ice and snow.

’Winter Frost Domain!’

Pei Ze immediately recognized the Divine Art Maynard had cast.

However, as far as he knew, this Divine Art required at least a dozen Winter Frost Priests working together to cast. The fact that Maynard could do it alone was clearly thanks to that quasi-Divine Artifact.

As the chilling aura spread, Pei Ze’s movements became noticeably sluggish.

Seizing the opportunity, Maynard manipulated the Ice Crystals to frantically fire beams of cold light, concentrating their fire on Pei Ze.

Unfortunately, they all missed.

Pei Ze simply used Flash, teleporting behind Maynard once more and throwing a punch.

The latter was forced to expend another Ice Crystal to defend himself.

After being upgraded to an Upper-Level Magic Tattoo, the effects of the Flash Magic Tattoo had increased explosively.

Not only had the flash distance increased to a kilometer, but the number of uses per activation had also increased to eight.

For a moment, all that could be seen was Pei Ze’s figure flashing repeatedly, evading the beams of cold light every time to get behind Maynard and attack.

No matter how Maynard dodged or counterattacked, it was useless. From start to finish, he could do nothing but take a beating.

Seeing that only four Ice Crystals remained behind him, he grew anxious.

But just then, he suddenly noticed that when faced with a rapid volley of cold light, Pei Ze didn’t teleport away as before. Instead, he was hit dead-on. The spot that was struck erupted with scattering arcs of electricity, and its glow visibly dimmed.

Watching this, Maynard froze for a second, then his eyes lit up as if he had realized something.

"Hahaha, so your ability has a limited number of uses!"

"If I’m not mistaken, you can’t use it anymore, can you!"

"Now let’s see you dodge!"

The killing intent in Maynard’s eyes blazed. The light from the Ice Crystals behind him grew brighter as they frantically shot beam after beam of cold light at Pei Ze, causing arcs of electricity to continuously erupt across his body.

’The Lightning Rune is powerful offensively and decent in speed, but its defense is a bit weak.’

Pei Ze shook his head to himself.

Fortunately, Silver Star compensated for this weakness.

Although Maynard’s attacks looked spectacular when they hit him, they weren’t actually causing him any real damage.

They couldn’t even break through Silver Star’s protective layer, let alone harm his body, which now had a strength of over seventy energy levels.

’Still, it’s about time to end this.’

A dark glint flashed in Pei Ze’s eyes as he unhesitatingly burned two Magic Tattoos: Resilience and Energy Gathering.

A feeling of vast and abundant power instantly filled his entire body.

Pei Ze swiped his hand, and more than twenty additional Lightning Runes materialized out of thin air, quickly sinking into his body.

In an instant, the number of Lightning Runes empowering him soared to a total of eighty!

The Thunder Armor on his body blazed with sudden, intense light, turning him into what looked almost like a blue-white sun.

The next second, Pei Ze shot toward Maynard like a meteor.

In that instant, an intense sense of danger surged through Maynard. A powerful fear gripped him, as if his heart were being squeezed tight.

He could no longer care about anything else. With a shout, he consumed and shattered his final four Ice Crystals, draining all their energy to form a thick, translucent ice wall before him that radiated an aura of indestructibility.

The instant he finished, the blue-white ’sun’ crashed into it with a deafening boom!

CRACK!

Before Maynard’s horrified eyes, the ice wall in which he had placed so much hope ultimately failed to block his opponent’s attack.

After holding for just a fraction of a second, the ice wall was blasted to pieces by the blazing lightning!

The lightning surged forward like a tide, engulfing Maynard in the next moment!

RUMBLE!

A sound like rolling thunder reverberated across the plains, audible for several kilometers around.

When the lightning dissipated, the place where Maynard had stood was empty.

He had been completely obliterated by the lightning, not even a scrap left behind.

All that remained was a single, lotus-shaped Ice Crystal, refracting a cold light in the sun.
