Chapter 247: Chapter 150: Waiting for the Enemy to Deliver Themselves (Part 2)
Unfortunately, they wouldn’t get the chance to figure it out. The next second, three Thunder Spears tore through the air, piercing all three of their chests almost simultaneously.
The divine arts they had desperately cast for protection were as fragile as paper before the Thunder Spears, offering no resistance whatsoever.
THUD!
With a series of dull thuds, three more corpses hit the ground.
In the blink of an eye, all four Winter Frost Priests were dead.
Meanwhile, the battle on the ground was also drawing to a close.
The Sect Knights had been wiped out, and only a few scattered Noble Infantry were left, fleeing in all directions.
But as the murder of crows hunted them down, their deaths were only a matter of time.
Yin Guang stared blankly at the scene below, his mind reeling in shock. It took him a long moment to come to his senses.
From the moment Pei Ze threw the first Thunder Spear until now, not even five minutes had passed, yet a heavily guarded fortification had been completely destroyed!
This was beyond anything he could have imagined.
If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he never would have believed it.
After a long moment, Yin Guang finally snapped out of it and asked Su Ya and Peng Yan in a daze, "Has it always been like this?"
"Not exactly." Su Ya shrugged. "It usually takes about ten minutes. Today was a bit faster. I guess the Master is in a bad mood, so he was a little more ruthless."
Ten minutes...
Yin Guang’s mouth twitched.
The Witch Hunting Team had attacked Turin Defense Works before. It took more than ten Level 1 Wizards working together the better part of a day to wipe out the resistance inside the castle.
He used to think their efficiency was quite impressive, but compared to Pei Ze, it was simply pathetic.
While he was still in a daze, Su Ya and Peng Yan had already descended to the ground to clean up the battlefield.
This part of the job actually took even longer than destroying the castle.
About half an hour later, Pei Ze and his group set off once more, heading for the next destination.
The operations that followed went smoothly.
In just half a day, Pei Ze destroyed four Turin Defense Works in succession. Along the way, he also casually eliminated seven or eight Turin outposts and over a dozen patrol vehicles.
Yin Guang’s initial shock and astonishment gave way to numbness, and eventually, he was no longer surprised by any of it.
Today had been a real eye-opener for him.
He had never seen a Level 1 Wizard like Pei Ze, who could attack a fortification as if he were on a picnic, completely without effort.
Even a Second-level Wizard probably couldn’t have done it with such ease.
A Second-level Wizard could also destroy a Turin Defense Works alone, but not as cleanly and efficiently as Pei Ze.
After all, while killing Winter Frost Priests was easy, clearing out the Turin soldiers in the castle was time-consuming and exhausting.
Pei Ze’s familiars, however, could easily solve that problem.
Wherever the murder of crows passed, Noble Infantry and Sect Knights alike were like blades of grass in a flood, easily overwhelmed and devoured.
After destroying yet another Turin Defense Works, Su Ya and Peng Yan began to clean the battlefield as usual.
Pei Ze and Yin Guang, meanwhile, stood on the castle wall.
Suddenly, Pei Ze’s expression shifted. He looked into the distance, a dark light flashing in his eyes for an instant.
"It seems our target has finally taken the bait."
It took Yin Guang a few seconds to process what he meant. His expression immediately grew solemn, and he followed Pei Ze’s gaze into the distance.
Sure enough, a dozen or so figures appeared on the distant horizon, rapidly approaching at an astonishing speed.
"Master."
Su Ya and Peng Yan came up behind Pei Ze, having finished cleaning the battlefield.
Pei Ze waved his hand. "You two, fall back. Once the fighting starts, I won’t be able to look out for you."
Then he glanced at Yin Guang. "You too."
"Yes, Master."
Su Ya and Peng Yan did as they were told.
Having followed Pei Ze on so many missions, they knew exactly what to do. They immediately jumped off the castle wall, leading the three giant eagles to a safe distance.
Yin Guang hesitated for a moment, then said in a low voice, "Be careful. My cousin wouldn’t want to see anything happen to you."
Pei Ze smiled faintly. "Don’t worry. I cherish my life a great deal."
Seeing this, Yin Guang nodded and said no more. He jumped off the wall and caught up with Su Ya and Peng Yan.
In an instant, only Pei Ze remained on the castle wall.
He watched with a profound gaze as the figures in the distance drew closer.
There were twelve of them in total, all clad in black robes and wearing wolf-shaped masks. They exuded a bloody aura, starkly different from that of ordinary Winter Frost Priests.
The leader was a tall man. His face was obscured by a mask, but his snow-white hair was visible, indicating his advanced age.
Before long, the twelve of them arrived.
Seeing Pei Ze standing calmly on the wall, his expression serene and utterly unsurprised by their arrival, the Combat Priests all frowned in confusion.
The lead Combat Priest spoke in a low voice, "You lured us out on purpose."
Though it was phrased as a question, his tone was certain.
Pei Ze smiled faintly and, instead of answering, asked a question of his own. "You must be Maynard?"
"So what if I am?"
"Then there’s no mistake." Pei Ze was still smiling, but his eyes grew cold. "I was indeed waiting for you to appear."
By now, Maynard had confirmed that Pei Ze was the only Wizard present—he paid no mind to the three in the distance—and he relaxed. A mocking glint appeared in his eyes as he looked at Pei Ze.
"I have to admit, you’re bold, daring to provoke us all by yourself."
The other Combat Priests let out low chuckles, looking at Pei Ze as if he were some clown who didn’t know his own limits.
When they received intelligence that a Wizard was frantically attacking their fortifications, they had assumed it was retaliation from the Witch Hunting Team.
They had prepared for a major battle, but when they arrived, they found the enemy was just a single person!
And a Level 1 Crystalized Wizard at that!
This was completely beyond their expectations.
Of course, for this man to destroy five fortifications in such a short time, his true strength was far beyond that of a mere Level 1. His combat prowess had to be at least at the standard of a Second-level Liquefied Wizard.
But so what?
They had ten Second- and Third-Class Priests and two Fourth-Class Priests. On top of that, Lord Maynard himself wielded a quasi-Divine Artifact.
Forget a Wizard with only Second-level Liquefied strength; they wouldn’t fear even a true Level 2 Crystalized Wizard.
Facing the mocking gazes of the crowd of Winter Frost Priests, Pei Ze’s expression remained calm and composed.
For some reason, seeing Pei Ze’s composure, Maynard felt a faint sense of foreboding deep inside.
However, after clutching the Ice Lotus hidden in his sleeve, his confidence returned. He sneered and barked, "Kill him!"
However, before the Winter Frost Priests could make a move, Pei Ze was already in motion.
With a flash of silver light, his body was instantly bathed in a dazzling silver glow.
Beneath the silver radiance, a dimmer light emerged as six Magic Tattoos activated simultaneously.
At the same time, Lightning Runes emerged from the void one after another, sinking into his body and disappearing.
In the blink of an eye, the dazzling silver glow was engulfed by an even more brilliant light of thunder, and a layer of Thunder Armor instantly formed over Pei Ze’s body.
Silver Star Fusion, Magic Tattoos, and Lightning Runes!
Pei Ze instantly entered his combat state. Fifty-one Lightning Runes orbited him as serpents of electricity danced wildly across his body. He exuded a violent and ferocious aura that struck terror into the hearts of all who witnessed it.
CRACKLE!
Pei Ze clenched his hand into a fist. Lightning converged wildly on its surface as the surging energy from his activated Thunder Burst Magic Tattoo coiled around it. As he threw the punch, the energy transformed into a torrent of lightning that swept forward!
The violent energy made space itself tremble. Vast distortions appeared in the air, and the ground began to silently crumble and shatter!
Before the horrified eyes of the Winter Frost Priests, the blazing torrent of lightning, accompanied by rolling sonic booms, swept over and completely engulfed them!
BOOM! RUMBLE!
A deafening roar thundered across the plains!
A blinding flash of lightning erupted, spreading wildly in all directions.
Viewed from high above, the plains in a thousand-meter radius were enveloped in a blue-and-white hemisphere of light. It was a magnificent and beautiful sight, yet it radiated an aura of pure destruction, as if heralding the end of the world.
