Chapter 159: Chapter 108: Silver-Blue Long Spear, Astonishing Power Beyond the Apprentice Realm
But if the Dream Wand had been involved, he might not have had such an easy time.
’Good thing I still have other trump cards.’
Pei Ze chuckled softly and, without hesitation, activated the last Magic Tattoo on his body.
A faint, pure white light, tinged with a hint of sanctity, instantly spread out, enveloping him completely.
From a distance, Pei Ze looked as if he were wearing a white robe.
Aegis!
At that moment, Xu Ke had already launched his Illusion Technique. A formless, intangible, and bizarre fluctuation instantly crossed the distance of several dozen meters, landing silently on Pei Ze.
But the halo of light around him merely flickered before blocking most of the strange fluctuation.
Pei Ze’s expression turned slightly dazed, but he recovered in an instant.
Weakened by the Aegis, the residual effects of the Illusion Technique were even less potent than before. Aside from making him momentarily dazed, it had no other effect.
Seeing this, Xu Ke’s face instantly turned pale. Unwilling to give up, he launched another illusionary assault, but the result was the same.
At this, the last trace of color drained from Xu Ke’s face.
Pei Ze, however, had no intention of dragging this out with Xu Ke any longer. He raised his palm slightly, and a mass of liquid silver metal appeared out of thin air above it. It rapidly stretched and extended, in the blink of an eye solidifying into a silver spear about two meters long.
Immediately after, five Lightning Runes appeared one after another, scrambling to merge into the spear.
In an instant, the spear’s surface flared with brilliant light, becoming coated in a layer of azure radiance so tangible it looked solid.
That was the Power of the Thunder Element, so highly condensed it had almost become liquid!
A sudden sense of heart-pounding dread jolted Xu Ke to his senses. His gaze fell upon the Silver-Blue Long Spear, and he felt a chill shoot straight up his spine, making his scalp tingle in an instant.
’I’ll die!’
’If I can’t block this, I will absolutely die!’
Shrouded in the fear of death, Xu Ke’s face twisted as he roared. The two giant pythons his arms had transformed into quickly returned, their massive bodies coiling like two great walls, one in front of the other, to shield him.
At the same time, a swarm of snakes crawled out from under his gray robes, weaving together in dense layers to form a wall made entirely of serpents.
In addition, multiple Magic Items on his neck, arms, and waist simultaneously pulsed with Mana. In an instant, at least five Defensive Magical Items activated, creating layer upon layer of protection.
The very instant Xu Ke finished doing all this, Pei Ze violently threw the Silver-Blue Long Spear in his hand.
A sonic boom that threatened to rupture eardrums suddenly erupted.
The Silver-Blue Long Spear tore through the void like a Thunderbolt, reaching the giant python in the blink of an eye. The latter roared and snapped its jaws at the spear, but the moment it made contact, its massive head exploded into a cloud of blood mist.
The rest of its body soon followed suit. Wherever the Silver-Blue Long Spear passed, the python’s body swelled up as if inflated, then burst apart section by section. In just a moment, the colossal serpent was reduced to countless bloody remnants.
The second giant python quickly met the same fate.
The thick wall of snakes instantly disintegrated, countless serpents blasted into charcoal by the arcing electricity, turning to ash and dissipating into the air.
After shattering three lines of defense, the Silver-Blue Long Spear’s momentum was still unbroken. It tore through the void like a blazing meteor and struck Xu Ke’s body. A rapid succession of flashes was seen; unable to resist for even a moment, all of his magical protections were crushed and broken through in an instant.
Before Xu Ke’s despairing and terrified eyes, the Silver-Blue Long Spear ran him through the chest. Immediately after, a violent torrent of elemental energy erupted, sweeping outwards like a hurricane and shattering the ground in its path.
A blindingly intense light flared. From high above, it looked like a giant blue bowl had been placed upside down, covering an area hundreds of meters in radius.
Xiao Xi stared at the scene, stunned. His mouth was dry, and his heart hammered like a drum, utterly shaken by what he had just witnessed.
The power of that attack was even greater than the Thunder Burst Magic Tattoo from before!
’Is this really a technique a Wizard Apprentice can unleash?’
’Even an Official Wizard would be hard-pressed to do more, right?’
After a long while, the dust and smoke slowly dissipated, revealing an enormous crater three to four hundred meters in diameter, as if a giant beast had taken a huge bite out of the earth. The crater was empty; Xu Ke had been utterly annihilated.
Pei Ze landed lightly in the center of the crater. He raised his hand, and the ground beneath his feet churned. The dust parted on its own, and a Magic Staff floated up from below, coming to rest in his palm.
After inspecting it for a few moments, Pei Ze let out a sigh of relief.
’Good. The artifact isn’t damaged. It should recover after being nurtured for a while. Otherwise, this would have been a huge loss.’
’On a whim, I unleashed all the energy from the five Lightning Runes at once. I didn’t expect the power to be so astonishing, far exceeding what I saw during tests in the Magic Laboratory. I estimate its power was likely close to a level of four hundred.’
’Faced with that kind of power, no Wizard Apprentice could withstand a direct hit!’
’Even I couldn’t block it, unless I had enough time to stack a hundred layers of Mage Armor.’
’It’s powerful, alright, but it’s a bit rough on the spoils of war.’
’And the mental drain is severe, too.’
That last attack had drained nearly half of Pei Ze’s Spiritual Power, and now it was on the verge of being completely depleted.
Fortunately, the match was over.
Pei Ze looked up at the Black Giant Eagle in the sky, his gaze meeting that of the three Wizards from Red Lotus City.
Led by Zhuang Li, the three of them had incredibly grim expressions, and their gazes toward Pei Ze were ice-cold.
Pei Ze paid them no mind. With a slight smile, he put the Dream Wand into his dimensional bag right in front of them.
Seeing this, the corner of Zhuang Li’s eye twitched. He took a deep breath, withdrew his gaze, and looked at Ai Yuan and the other two opposite him. "You’ve won this match," he said coldly.
With that, he spurred the Black Giant Eagle to leave without a backward glance.
Yuan Meng watched them depart, a mocking smile playing on her lips. When she turned back to look at Pei Ze, a bright gleam flashed in her eyes.
Faint smiles also appeared on the faces of Ai Yuan and the masked Wizard.
To be honest, when Pei Ze took the stage, the three of them hadn’t held out much hope.
After all, fighting one against three is easier said than done.
Especially when all three opponents were top-tier Wizard Apprentices.
Who would have thought that Pei Ze would repeatedly display strength and methods beyond everyone’s expectations, killing three opponents in a row to ultimately turn the tide!
It was truly unexpected!
So much so that when Pei Ze returned to the white mist, even the perpetually cold and stern masked Wizard gave him an uncharacteristic smile and a nod.
After all, this competition was of great significance, as it concerned the distribution rights to seventy percent of the Turin Plane’s benefits.
Once those rights were secured, every Wizard in Chenxi City would benefit.
"Well done," Ai Yuan said, smiling at Pei Ze. "When we get back, I will report your contribution to the Dawn Council. The reward will certainly be substantial. If there’s anything you want, you should start thinking about it now."
Pei Ze’s Spirit lifted, and he immediately nodded in acknowledgment.
He had participated in the competition precisely for the rewards. Now, the Substitute Spirit was at least within his grasp.
Once he obtained the Substitute Spirit, he could begin to form his Spirit Crystal.
Promotion to Wizard was not far off!
Xiao Xi, standing beside Yuan Meng, gave him a thumbs-up.
Pei Ze smiled slightly, then glanced down at the devastated battlefield below.
’It’s a pity Su Shouhai was unlucky and died at the hands of Gong Xinghe.’
’Otherwise, with the rewards from winning this competition, he might have had a chance to break through and become a Wizard.’
’But since I killed Gong Xinghe, I suppose I’ve avenged him.’
’Speaking of which, Red Lotus City suffered considerable losses in this match.’
’Not only did they lose the match, but three of their elite geniuses with immense potential also perished on the spot.’
’More importantly, Red Lotus City is now a step behind. If they lose just one more match, the competition against Chenxi City will be over, and they will be forced to hand over enormous benefits.’
’I wonder when the other two matches will take place?’
The thought flashed through Pei Ze’s mind, but he quickly shook his head.
’Forget it. That’s not my concern. I should get back quickly and prepare to form my Spirit Crystal.’
