Chapter 158: Chapter 108: Silver-Blue Long Spear, Astonishing Might Surpassing the Apprentice Realm

Xu Ke clenched his fists tightly, his head buzzing.

Just a short while ago, the situation had looked so promising. How did it turn into this?

Both Gong Xinghe and Yang Xu were among the most elite geniuses of the Wizard Apprentices.

Yet, powerful as they were, they had been effortlessly crushed by Pei Ze.

’Is this guy really a Wizard Apprentice?’

Xu Ke’s mind was in turmoil.

’Pei Ze hasn’t even used a Magic Item yet, and I don’t even know what other trump cards he might have. Even if I go down there, I’m not guaranteed to win. Maybe I should just give up.’

’No, I can’t. The three Wizards will never allow me to do that. Maybe I should just go down, fight for a bit, and then surrender at the right moment.’

Xu Ke was truly terrified, and the thought of escape involuntarily surfaced in his mind.

He didn’t want to end up like Gong Xinghe and Yang Xu.

Just then, Zhuang Li, who was in front of him, suddenly turned his head and shot him an indifferent glance.

"What are you dazing out for? Get down there!"

Xu Ke snapped back to his senses. He stopped overthinking and quickly prepared to descend.

However, Zhuang Li’s voice came from behind him again.

"If you fail, don’t bother coming back."

Xu Ke’s body trembled violently. He turned back in astonishment, only to be met with the cold, indifferent faces of the three Wizards.

All the color drained from Xu Ke’s face. He finally realized something.

Compared to the enormous benefits at stake in this competition, the lives of three Wizard Apprentices were nothing.

—even if the three of them were elite geniuses in the eyes of ordinary people.

As long as there was even a sliver of hope for victory, the three Wizards would absolutely not give up, nor would they allow him to.

In this final match, he would either win or die. There was no third option.

For a moment, Xu Ke’s hands and feet went cold, as if he had been plunged into an icy cavern.

After a long moment, he came to his senses, his gaze suddenly turning vicious.

’Since there’s no way out, I have no choice but to fight to the death!’

Xu Ke took a deep breath and leaped off the back of the Black Giant Eagle.

The moment he landed, he launched his attack. His sleeves suddenly billowed out, and his arms instantly twisted and transformed into two giant, black-scaled pythons. They shot out like lightning, their maws wide open and forked, scarlet tongues flicking rapidly as they viciously bit at Pei Ze from the left and right.

Up close, one could even see the python’s scales standing on end like blades, covering its entire head. Its fangs were like swords, making for a ferocious and terrifying sight.

Pei Ze’s expression didn’t change. With a flick of his hand, he blasted the python attacking from the right with a Fireball Technique. He immediately followed up by slashing his sword at the one on the left, striking its head just as it charged in. A dazzling arc of electricity exploded, blasting a crater into the python’s head and sending scales and flesh splattering everywhere.

Yet, the giant python seemed to feel no pain. It opened its cavernous mouth and continued to bite down viciously, so close that Pei Ze could almost smell the foul stench from its maw.

Pei Ze raised an eyebrow. His body flickered, and he easily dodged the bite.

But just then, his vision suddenly blurred.

When he came to, Pei Ze found himself standing in a desolate field. In every direction was an endless, blood-red void. From time to time, massive meteorites would plummet from the sky without warning, smashing scorched black craters into the ground.

And at that very moment, a meteorite was hurtling down toward his head.

The oncoming pressure and heart-pounding fear felt incredibly real, as if he would be smashed into a pulp in the next second.

However, Pei Ze’s eyes only glazed over for a moment before clearing up in an instant.

"An Illusion Technique."

As Pei Ze murmured, the surrounding scenery abruptly froze. Then, like a reflection in water struck by a stone, it rapidly distorted, dissipated, and collapsed.

His vision returned to the forest floor. A whistling sound cut through the air beside him, and the giant python’s tail slammed heavily into Pei Ze, sending him flying like a cannonball.

Seeing this, Xu Ke showed no trace of joy. Instead, his expression changed drastically.

"Impossible! How did he break free from the Illusion Technique so quickly?!"

Even Gong Xinghe, with a Spirit attribute as high as 120, would need at least two to three seconds to escape the effects of his Illusion Technique. But Pei Ze had broken free in less than half a second.

’Could his Spirit attribute be even higher than Gong Xinghe’s?’

’No, that’s impossible!’

’He must have some kind of Magic Item that greatly weakens the effects of Illusion Techniques.’

"Damn it!"

Xu Ke cursed, gritting his teeth. His gaze hardened, and a Magic Staff appeared out of thin air in his hand.

The Magic Staff was only thirty to forty centimeters long. A purple Gemstone was embedded at its tip, emitting a hazy, dreamlike luster.

Atop the white mist, Xiao Xi felt a wave of dizziness just from staring at the Gemstone for a few moments.

She was greatly alarmed and quickly looked away.

"That’s the Dream Wand. It has the ability to amplify Illusion Techniques." Yuan Meng’s voice sounded by her ear.

Xiao Xi was shocked.

Xu Ke was already skilled in Illusion Techniques because of the Angry Python bloodline in his body. Now, with the enhancement from the Dream Wand, wouldn’t that put Pei Ze in grave danger?!

Pei Ze also noticed the Dream Wand immediately.

Although he didn’t recognize the Dream Wand, he could guess that this Magic Item definitely amplified Xu Ke’s Illusion Technique abilities, and his expression tensed slightly.

Both Mage Armor and Magic Heavy Armor offered negligible resistance to Illusion Techniques.

In other words, apart from a few rare Magic Items specifically designed to counter Illusion Techniques, the vast majority of Magic Items provided extremely limited defense against attacks like illusions and psychic abilities.

A moment ago, Pei Ze had only managed to break free from the Illusion Technique’s influence so quickly by relying on his high Spirit attribute and multiple layers of Magic Armor.
