Chapter 2013: Chapter 2017: On Top or Underneath
After saying goodbye to Luo Ke, Leng Zirui left the villa gate with that subordinate, then stopped walking. "You go get the boat ready, I’ll bring Roselia over."
The subordinate didn’t think too much and immediately headed toward the pier, while Leng Zirui quickly ran toward a row of two‑story buildings behind the villa.
This was where the bodyguards lived, and Roselia’s corpse was kept in a room downstairs, with ice inside to keep the body from decomposing.
"Big brother, pack up and come over right away."
Just now, Leng Zirui had been thinking that if he wanted to get Leng Zimo off the island, this time he could conveniently use Roselia’s corpse as an excuse.
Once Leng Zimo got his message, he quickly packed his own things, hid them in the woods, then slipped out from the trees. Under Leng Zirui’s cover, he smoothly entered the room where the body was stored.
"You want to be on top or on the bottom?!"
Leng Zirui jerked his chin toward the black plastic sheeting spread on the floor.
Looking at Roselia’s body laid out on the wooden plank, Leng Zimo frowned in disgust. "I don’t want to touch her!"
Leng Zirui shrugged, and the two brothers worked together to lift Roselia’s corpse down. They first wrapped it in a layer of plastic, then Leng Zimo lay down on top of her body. Leng Zirui wrapped him up the way you’d wrap a corpse. Of course, to protect his breathing, he carefully left the plastic loose around Leng Zimo’s head so there’d be enough air.
By the time Leng Zirui had him wrapped up, that subordinate had already gotten the boat ready and was coming over.
"I’ll take this end!"
Leng Zirui voluntarily went to the end where Leng Zimo’s head was, and the subordinate went to the other side.
The two of them heaved together, and the subordinate still couldn’t lift it.
"Jesus, this is heavy. Roselia was so skinny, how could she weigh this much?!"
The two of them together weighed at least two hundred jin; of course it was heavy!
"Idiot!" Leng Zirui cursed under his breath in disdain. "A corpse is obviously heavy, you think it’s a living person?!"
The subordinate, stung by the scolding and sensing he was in a bad mood, didn’t dare talk back. He just used all his strength to help carry Leng Zimo and Roselia’s body together toward the pier.
Luckily it wasn’t far from here to the pier. Two patrolling bodyguards came over to help, and a few of them easily got the "corpse" onto the speedboat.
The speedboat started up and left the island without a hitch.
The Butler had already arranged everything. By the time the speedboat neared the dock, the hearse from the cemetery was already waiting there.
Leng Zirui helped the others load the "corpse" into the vehicle, then followed it all the way to the cemetery.
When the staff were about to open the wrapping to inspect it, Leng Zirui immediately strode forward.
"I’d like... to say my final goodbye to her."
Everyone just assumed he was reluctant to part with the deceased, and considerately stepped out of the room.
Once he saw they’d left, Leng Zirui hurriedly untied the ropes on the outside and opened the wrapping.
"Big brother, how are you?!"
The hearse was a refrigerated truck. Fortunately, the plastic was thick enough, and to keep people from noticing anything wrong, Leng Zirui had stuffed a lot of cotton cloth inside as insulation. Even so, Leng Zimo’s face was reddened from the cold.
"I’m fine."
Helping him sit up, Leng Zirui carefully gave him a once‑over. After confirming he was all right, he finally let his lips curl up. "Bro, congratulations—back from the dead!"
Leng Zimo only shot him a sidelong glance and rubbed his slightly chilled hands together.
