Chapter 812: Chapter 654: Hong Kong-Style Ying-Yang Drink

"Let’s go have dinner." Shi Wangyue looked at the sunset perched on the distant treetop, raised his hand to check the watch on his wrist, and found it was already past five.

"Sure." Ning Youguang said, "What shall we eat?"

"What do you want to eat?" Shi Wangyue had planned the dinner location but hadn’t finalized it, "Assistant Jin found me a private kitchen and a French restaurant."

Ning Youguang asked, "Is it far?"

Shi Wangyue remembered today’s plan clearly, "One is 5.6 kilometers away, the other 7.8 kilometers."

"That’s a bit far." Ning Youguang said, "I don’t really want to go."

"Want to eat nearby?" Shi Wangyue took out his phone, ready to search for a place again.

Ning Youguang nodded, "I want to stroll casually and go into a restaurant that catches my eye, can we?"

Of course, Shi Wangyue had no objections, "Should we drive?"

He returned his phone to his pocket.

"Let’s leave the car here; saves us from finding a parking spot later." Ning Youguang said.

Shi Wangyue looked around after lifting his eyes and asked, "Should we go left or right?"

"Right." Ning Youguang said, "There seem to be more trees that way."

...

After choosing a direction, Shi Wangyue and Ning Youguang started walking hand in hand aimlessly through the streets.

They hadn’t walked a few hundred meters.

Ning Youguang spotted a small diner that had a vintage feel from the outside, with green decor from the sign to the windows, "How about that diner?"

She pointed at the entrance and asked Shi Wangyue.

"If you want to, we can check it out." Shi Wangyue replied.

Soon enough, Shi Wangyue saw the advertising board by the diner entrance, "They serve braised pork rice."

Ning Youguang peered through the window at the interior, noticing the diner seemed small, "Alright, I’m just hungry now."

Once indoors, the two found it almost fully occupied, with just a long table by the window with two high stools left.

Shi Wangyue asked the server, "Are there seats upstairs?"

The server cleared away the remnants from the previous guests’ table while replying, "Upstairs is closed; once I tidy up here, you two can sit."

Ning Youguang tugged on Shi Wangyue’s sleeve, "Let’s sit by the entrance."

Shi Wangyue frowned slightly, "The table is narrow."

"It’s fine." Ning Youguang gestured out the window again, "There’s the sunset and trees outside."

Shi Wangyue could only sit with her on the two high stools by the window.

Perhaps because the business was good, even after they sat for a few minutes, no server came for their order.

Ning Youguang pulled over a menu from the neighboring table.

Shi Wangyue leaned in to look with her, but there wasn’t much to see.

The menu on this card was similar to the advertising board outside, with just a few set meal options.

After reviewing the menu inside and out, both ordered a set of braised pork rice meals.

The total was sixty yuan, drinks included.

Shi Wangyue chose a coffee, while Ning Youguang picked a drink named "Yuan Yang."

When both the braised pork rice and drinks arrived.

Ning Youguang looked at the two drinks which appeared indistinguishable in texture and color and asked the server, "Which one is Yuan Yang?"

The server picked one and placed it before her, "This one."

Ning Youguang then asked, "What’s this drink made of?"

The thin-faced middle-aged server sister laughed, "Coffee and milk tea."

"Got it, thanks." Ning Youguang was speechless for half a second.

Shi Wangyue chuckled nearby, "Shall I order you another drink?"

When choosing drinks earlier, Ning Youguang specially said no milk tea or coffee.

Unexpectedly, she ended up choosing a milk tea and coffee mix.

"No need, just this will do." After thanking the server sister, Ning Youguang smiled and said to Shi Wangyue, "It’s my first time drinking a milk tea and coffee mix."

With that, she lowered her head, using the straw to take a sip of "Yuan Yang."

Shi Wangyue immediately asked, "How does it taste?"

Ning Youguang didn’t answer but directly handed her drink over to him, "Have a taste."

Shi Wangyue drank from her straw, then remarked, "The flavor is quite complex, but not unpleasant."

"I think it’s alright too." Ning Youguang retrieved her drink and then eyed the coffee in front of him, "How’s your coffee?"

Shi Wangyue lowered his head and took a sip of his coffee, "There’s quite a difference from your drink."

He knew that was what Ning Youguang wanted to know.

Ning Youguang laughed, "Which one tastes better?"

Shi Wangyue then passed his coffee to her, "Try it."

Ning Youguang took a sip from his cup.

"More bitter than mine."

The difference is significant.

Ning Youguang noted internally then asked again, "Want to swap with me?"

Shi Wangyue didn’t handle bitterness as well as she did.

Compared to bitter foods, he preferred sweet ones.

Shi Wangyue shook his head, "How about we share halves?"

Ning Youguang nodded, "Sure."

After tasting each other’s drinks, the two picked up spoons to start on the braised pork rice.

No need to swap rice as both bowls were identical.

They were huge bowls, with diced braised pork covering the white rice, along with braised eggs, chicken wings, and vegetables.

Initially, Shi Wangyue was dissatisfied with the remaining two seats in the small diner and its limited menu.

But after the first mouthful of braised pork rice entered his mouth, his view of the diner improved.

He finally understood why the diner, despite its remote location, had so many patrons.

The diner made genuinely authentic braised pork rice.

"The rice is delicious." Beside him, Ning Youguang was thoroughly enjoying her meal.

Seeing her happy, Shi Wangyue’s discomfort vanished instantly.

But soon, he realized the diner brought him more joy than just good food; Ning Youguang’s choice of seating by the window was indeed wise.

The benefit of sitting with their backs to the diner quickly became apparent.

Not only could they avoid the crowd inside, but they could also watch the sunset light up the leaves and cast golden rays while dining.

This made the few cars parked at the entrance pleasant to the eye.

"There’s a cat." Suddenly, Ning Youguang noticed a yellow and white cat leap onto the roof of a white car.

Shi Wangyue nodded, about to say, "I see it."

Within the diner, an excited young female voice suddenly rang out sharply, "Could you stop changing the channel, little friend? We want to watch this."

The diner went silent for a moment, but the child who was addressed was slow to react. 1314
