Chapter 237: Chapter 237: MOST OF THEM ARE NOW DECEASED OR IN A MENTAL HOSPITAL
Liuxian sat back in his chair, thoroughly pleased with himself.
Being fed by a cutie was already good. Chopsticks lifted to his mouth one bite at a time while he kept working, Guiying’s focus never wavering even when he got a little clumsy with the angle.
Having a cutie settled in his lap made it better, weight warm against his chest, close enough that he didn’t have to look up from his papers to know exactly where Guiying was at every moment.
His hand slid along the cutie’s waist, slow and deliberate, fingers pressing in just enough to feel like more than an accident.
"Liuxian.." A warning, though Guiying didn’t pull away.
That was when he struck, turning his head at the last second to steal a kiss from the now angry cutie, catching Guiying’s mouth instead of the food.
"You did that on purpose!" Guiying’s cheeks colored, chopsticks still hovering midair, genuinely annoyed.
"I did and i don’t regret it." Liuxian finally accepted the bite he’d dodged the first time, no trace of apology on his face.
By the time the container emptied, Guiying had settled fully against him, the earlier irritation gone quiet. Liuxian set his pen down and gave him his full attention.
"I’ll be at TongShu tomorrow, then I have meetings with two other brands this week." Guiying folded his hands over the container. "I’ll be busy for a while. You should probably book me if you want to spend time with me."
"You’re my husband." Liuxian laughed, low and easy. "I have a free pass to everything. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask."
"Mhm, I was about to say something on that." Guiying shifted to look at him directly. "I’d like it if you didn’t butt in too much. If I have problems, I’d like to solve them myself, rather than you doing the talking for me. I won’t refuse your help, but I won’t appreciate it if you do it behind my back."

Liuxian’s expression eased into something more serious. He nodded once. "Understood."
"I also want to keep working on my painting, and try some art classes." Guiying’s voice lifted. "And I’ll put extra effort into my language learning. I’ll learn French properly this time, so I’ll always know what you’re saying."
Liuxian smiled and leaned down, pressing a kiss to the tip of his nose.
"Tu es mon étoile brillante dans le ciel sombre." Soft, sweet, meant only for him.
Because he knew Guiying had no way of knowing the meaning.
"What does that mean?"
Liuxian only smiled, but refused to tell him.
"That’s not fair." Guiying stood, already deciding to go sulk on the couch across the room.
Liuxian caught his wrist and pulled him back down. "I know you want to leave, but there’s something you should know."
He leaned back and brought out a rather thick file from the desk’s drawer.
"During your disappearance, I mobilized my manpower to look for you. In doing so, I took my attention off Ren Hao." His jaw tightened. "I’m sorry. I think he’s in Shen Zihao’s clutches right now. Though I can’t exactly confirm it, but it’s been three weeks since he disappeared, and we haven’t been able to locate him."
Guiying’s hand went still against the desk.

"In here, you’ll find some of Shen Zihao’s obvious crimes and past victims." Liuxian’s voice stayed level. "Most of them are now deceased or in a mental hospital."
Guiying felt his blood run cold. People just like him, who had suffered in Shen Zihao’s hands. Those who were deceased had all died from the same cause, suicide.
His hand shook, angry tears filling his eyes. If he hadn’t been given a second chance at life, he would have been one of the victims in this file.
"They all lost their lives because they met a monster like him." His voice shook, rising. "Someone like him shouldn’t be roaming around. Someone like him doesn’t deserve to be alive!"
"Shen Zihao needed to suffer, he needed to suffer for his crimes! All these innocent omegas, they’re all dead because of him!"
Liuxian said nothing. He reached over and pulled Guiying fully against his chest, one hand pressed flat against the back of his head, holding him there while the anger shook itself out of his body.
"He will." Liuxian’s voice came low, certain. "I promise you that. He will suffer for every single one of them."
Guiying stayed pressed against him for a long moment, breathing unevenly, his fingers curled tight into the fabric of Liuxian’s shirt. The anger hadn’t left him, it had only gone quiet, settling somewhere deep in his chest where it would wait.
"Three weeks." His voice had steadied some, though it still carried an edge. "Three weeks and no one could find him?"
"My people are still looking." Liuxian’s hand moved slowly along his back, unhurried, grounding. "I haven’t stopped since the day I realized he was missing. I won’t stop until we know for certain."
"And if he’s already—" Guiying couldn’t finish the sentence.
"Don’t." Liuxian’s voice sharpened, just slightly. "Don’t go there yet. We don’t know that. Not until we have proof."

Guiying pulled back enough to look at him, eyes still wet, jaw tight. "You said most of the names in that file are dead. What makes you think he’ll be different?"
Liuxian didn’t answer right away. He reached out and wiped at the corner of Guiying’s eye with his thumb, gentle in a way that didn’t match the weight sitting behind his expression.
"Because I’m not going to let it end that way." His voice came low, certain, the same tone he used when closing a deal he refused to lose. "I made a mistake taking my attention off him. I won’t make another one."
Guiying searched his face for a long moment, looking for the doubt Liuxian was clearly trying to keep hidden, and found only resolve staring back.
"What do we do now?" He asked it quietly, some of the fire from earlier settling into something colder, more focused.
"We wait for confirmation, and we prepare." Liuxian closed the file gently, setting it aside. "I’ve already put more people on this than I did when we were searching for you. If he’s there, we’ll find the exact location. Once we do, we move fast. He won’t get the chance to hide him elsewhere."
"I want to be there." Guiying’s voice left no space for argument. "When you find him, I want to see it with my own eyes."
Liuxian’s jaw tightened, clearly wanting to refuse, though he said nothing against it, not yet.
"We’ll talk about it when the time comes." It wasn’t a no,but the possibility of it being a yes were slim. "Right now, I need you to trust that I’m handling this the right way."
Guiying nodded slowly, though the tension in his shoulders hadn’t eased completely. He leaned back into Liuxian’s chest, letting the quiet settle between them, the file resting closed on the desk beside them like something neither of them could fully look away from.
