Chapter 230: IT’S BEEN A WHILE, BAI FENG
Liuxian accepted the prescription without looking at it. His attention remained on the monitor, where the final image of his stomach lining was still frozen on the screen. After several moments, he finally looked away and gave a slow nod.
"I’ll come."
Yanchen allowed himself a faint smile. "I’m choosing to believe you this time."
Until then, Guiying had remained quietly seated beside them, allowing the two cousins to finish their conversation without interruption. Only after Yanchen gathered the reports into separate envelopes did he finally speak.
"You’ve been dealing with this alone all this time."
His voice remained gentle, but there was an unmistakable trace of worry beneath it.
"I knew you had gastritis, but I never imagined it had become this serious."
Liuxian turned toward him before offering an apologetic smile.
"I didn’t want you worrying about something I thought I could handle."
Guiying lowered his eyes for a brief moment before meeting Liuxian’s gaze again.
"But you weren’t handling it."
There wasn’t the slightest hint of accusation in his voice.

He simply stated the truth after seeing the examination for himself.
"The moment Cousin Yanchen showed us those images, I understood why he was so angry."
Liuxian remained silent.
There was nothing he could say that would change what they had all seen inside the examination room.
Yanchen quietly slipped both prescriptions into separate envelopes before writing their names across the front. Once he finished, he handed them over before standing from his chair and walking toward the office door.
"Both of you have follow-up appointments now."
A smile gradually returned to his face as he opened the door for them.
"I’d prefer not to see either of you unexpectedly before then."
Guiying accepted his envelope with both hands before smiling warmly.
"We’ll take better care of ourselves."
Yanchen’s eyes shifted toward Liuxian.
"I’m holding him to that promise."
Liuxian finally laughed, the tension that had followed him since the examination easing ever so slightly.
"You have two people supervising me now."
"I don’t think I have much of a choice anymore."
The three of them stepped into the corridor together.
The morning rush inside the hospital had begun to settle, leaving the hallway noticeably quieter than it had been earlier. Guiying naturally slowed his pace until he was walking beside Liuxian before quietly reaching for his hand.
Their fingers intertwined without either of them saying a word.
Liuxian looked down briefly before turning toward Guiying with a small, helpless smile.
Guiying simply returned the smile and gave his hand a gentle squeeze, silently making a promise that neither of them needed to say aloud.
The automatic doors slid open as Liuxian and Guiying stepped out of the hospital together.
Peng Guoqing had already brought the car around to the entrance. The moment he saw them approaching, he quickly stepped out before opening the rear door.
"Young Master."
Liuxian gave a small nod before helping Guiying into the car first.
Only after making sure Guiying was seated comfortably did he walk around and slide in beside him.
Guoqing quietly closed the door before returning to the driver’s seat.
"Young Master, where to?"
Liuxian loosened his tie slightly before answering.
"Liu Corporation."
He paused briefly before looking toward Guiying.
"But drop Guiying home first."
Guiying immediately turned to him.
"No."
Liuxian looked back, slightly surprised.
"You’ve already spent the entire morning at the hospital."
Guiying’s brows drew together with quiet concern.

"Cousin Yanchen just warned you not to overwork yourself."
Liuxian smiled helplessly.
"I’m only going back to sign a few documents."
He reached over and gently held Guiying’s hand before continuing in a patient voice.
"The board meeting was postponed because I came here with you. There are a few contracts waiting for my signature, and several reports that require approval. Once I’m done, I’ll head straight home."
Guiying remained unconvinced.
"You’ll eat lunch?"
Liuxian nodded without hesitation.
"I will."
"You won’t skip it?"
"I won’t."
Guiying studied him for several long seconds, as though trying to decide whether he should believe him.
Eventually, he let out a quiet sigh.
"I’m going to ask Uncle Li to make something light for you, I’ll bring it to the office."
Liuxian couldn’t help laughing.
"So now I’ve gained another supervisor."
"You brought it upon yourself."
Guiying answered without the slightest hesitation.
"Cousin Yanchen was right."
"If you don’t take care of yourself, someone else will have to."
Liuxian’s smile gradually softened.
He gently squeezed Guiying’s hand.
"Alright."
"I’ll behave."
Only then did Guiying finally nod in satisfaction before leaning back against the seat.
Guoqing quietly started the car.
The black sedan slowly pulled away from the hospital before disappearing into the steady morning traffic.
—
Back upstairs, Yanchen stood alone inside his office.
He gathered the medical files from his desk before placing them neatly into their respective cabinets, then removed his white coat and hung it carefully on the coat stand beside the door.
His eyes drifted toward the clock.
"...Just in time."
A soft knock sounded against the half-open door before one of the nurses peeked inside.
"Doctor Gu?"
Yanchen looked over.
"What is it?"
She smiled when she noticed he was already packing his things.
"You’re leaving?"
"Mm."

Yanchen picked up his car keys before slipping them into his pocket.
"I’ve finished all of this morning’s consultations."
The nurse blinked in surprise.
"That’s unusual."
"I don’t think I’ve ever seen you leave this early."
Yanchen laughed quietly.
"There’s a first time for everything."
She tilted her head curiously.
"Emergency?"
"No."
"A conference?"
Again, Yanchen shook his head.
"I have an appointment."
The nurse looked genuinely surprised.
"An appointment?"
Yanchen smiled but offered nothing more.
"I’ll be back this afternoon."
With that, he walked past her and headed toward the elevator.
Nearly thirty minutes later, his car rolled to a stop outside a quiet restaurant tucked away from the city’s busiest streets.
It wasn’t lunchtime yet.
Only a handful of tables were occupied, leaving the dining room wrapped in comfortable silence.
The restaurant manager immediately recognized him.
"Good morning, Dr. Gu."
Yanchen smiled politely.
"Good morning."
"Your guest has already arrived."
"I figured."
The manager led him through the dining room before stopping outside one of the private booths.
Yanchen thanked him softly before pushing open the sliding door.
The person inside had arrived well before him.
One long leg rested neatly across the other beneath the table. A porcelain teacup sat untouched beside a leather document folder, while a pair of slender fingers calmly turned another page without the slightest sign of impatience.
Only after the door closed did those eyes finally lift from the document.
"You’re two minutes late."
The voice was clear, composed and entirely matter-of-fact.
Yanchen smiled as he took the seat opposite him.
"I finished with a patient later than expected."
The man quietly closed the folder before setting it aside with practiced precision.

"I assumed as much."
There wasn’t the slightest hint of annoyance in his tone.
He simply stated the observation before reaching for the teapot.
"Tea?"
Yanchen rested one arm comfortably against the chair before smiling.
"I’d appreciate that."
Without another word, the man poured a fresh cup before placing it in front of him.
Only then did Yanchen look properly at the person sitting across from him.
The impeccably dressed Omega before him carried himself with quiet sophistication. His posture remained perfectly straight, one leg still crossed over the other, every movement measured and unhurried. There was nothing ostentatious about him, yet everything from his tailored suit to the neatly organized documents at his side spoke of discipline.
Yanchen smiled faintly.
"It’s been a while..."
"Bai Feng."
