Chapter 426: Total Chaos
"Ah...!"
The female suddenly let out a sharp cry of agony, clutching her stomach as she collapsed onto the ground.
Her beast husband rushed forward in a panic. "Female Master!"
Xirin was stunned. How could this be? Wasn’t she supposed to be cured? Maron had personally given him this medicine, and he had even tested it on a sick beastman right in front of him beforehand.
"Shamans, go check on her immediately," Milt ordered.
The shamans rushed to the female’s side to administer treatment. After their intervention, her expression eased slightly, but she remained curled up on the ground, whimpering in pain.
One of the shamans stepped forward to report to Milt. "City Lord, she has been poisoned."
"What?!"
A collective shockwave rippled through the gathered beastmen.
Seizing the opportunity, an elder stepped out. "Look, everyone! What Xirin gave this female wasn’t an antidote at all—it was poison! He never intended to save the beastmen of our city; he wanted to kill them all!"
"I did no such thing!" Xirin defended himself fiercely. His goal was to become the City Lord. What possible reason would he have to wipe out his own people?
Suddenly, a realization struck him. He whipped around, glaring furiously at Maron. "Maron, you betrayed me?!"

Maron retreated rapidly, putting distance between them. "Elder Xirin, I could no longer act as your accomplice. You shouldn’t have poisoned the citizens, nor should you have framed City Lord Milt."
The defending elder instantly chimed in, "You all heard it! The poison was clearly Xirin’s doing all along. He wanted to murder everyone!"
Xirin stared at Maron with pure hatred. "Maron, how dare you slander me!" He turned back to face the crowd, shouting, "Don’t listen to him! I didn’t poison the water—Milt did! I am not lying to you. Think about it, what good does poisoning all of you do for me?"
"To frame our City Lord, of course," the elder countered smoothly.
Xirin sneered coldly. "If I were truly the one who poisoned the city, do you think I would have spared you old fossils?"
The Serpent City beastmen were thoroughly bewildered. Who on earth were they supposed to believe?
"That’s exactly what makes your scheme so clever," the elder pressed. "Who knows what method you used to intentionally keep our households safe? Thank goodness Shaman Maron possesses a sense of justice and exposed you in front of everyone."
The elder then turned his attention to the guards who had just accused Milt. "Why did you frame the City Lord just now?"
One of the guards quickly spoke up, "Because Xirin captured our Female Masters and used them to threaten us, forcing us to frame the City Lord!" The other captives nodded frantically in agreement.
The crowd erupted into an uproar. "So that’s how it is!" The looks they directed at Xirin turned incredibly hostile.
Deep interest and calculation flashed in Nina’s eyes.
Xirin clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles turned white. He had captured their females, but he had only done so to force the guards to speak the truth. He quickly realized he had walked straight into a trap Milt had laid out for him; Milt had planted a mole right by his side long ago.
The elder pushed the advantage home. "Now that the truth is out, guards, arrest these traitors of Serpent City!"
The guard captain looked to Milt, who gave a firm nod. The guards instantly lunged at Xirin and his faction.
Xirin retreated immediately. Just then, several more beastmen flew out from the crowd to back him up, one of whom handed him a large beast-skin sack.
Xirin tore the sack open, revealing a delicate face inside. It was Penny, whom he had abducted. Her eyes were closed, and she was completely unconscious.
He pressed his sharp claws directly against Penny’s throat. "Tair, get out here right now! Kill Milt for me, or I’ll slit your female’s throat!" If Milt dared to plot against him, Xirin was going to ensure he paid a heavy price.
Tair emerged from the crowd instantly, his eyes fixed anxiously on the unconscious Penny. "Don’t touch her! I’ll kill Milt for you!"
"Move, then!" Xirin pressed his claws even tighter against her skin.
Tair clenched his fists and launched a fierce attack toward Milt.
Xirin then snapped his gaze to Alar. "Alar, what about you?"
After a brief, agonizing struggle, Alar joined the assault against Milt as well.
Seeing Alar turn against him, Milt’s voice went dangerously cold. "Alar, are you betraying me too?"
Alar looked deeply conflicted. "Lord Milt, Penny is my female cub. I cannot stand by and watch her die."
The elders aligned with Milt immediately stepped forward to intercept them, and a chaotic battle erupted on the platform.

Xirin shot a meaningful look at several other elders, who immediately stepped forward to intercept the ones trying to help Milt.
"Are you all turning your backs on the tribe?!" a pro-Milt elder demanded fiercely.
"We haven’t turned our backs on the tribe. We are simply opposing Milt," an elder from Xirin’s faction retorted with open disdain. "He’s nothing but a lowly, mixed-blood bastard. What right does he have to be our City Lord?"
Infuriated, the pro-Milt elders clashed with them. The subordinates of both factions and the surrounding beastmen quickly joined the fray, and war erupted in an instant, plunging the entire area into absolute chaos.
The fighting grew so wild that some of it began spilling over toward the females and cubs.
Seeing their families caught in the crossfire, the males inside the array desperately tried to break out, but the perimeter guards forcibly held them back, refusing to let them leave.
Seeing this, Nina immediately barked an order, "Protect the females and cubs!"
Ridan and the others moved instantly, forming a protective perimeter around the vulnerable females and young.
Meanwhile, Odian leaned down and whispered to Nina, "Nina, I’m going to go check out the situation over there."
Nina gave him a quick nod, and Odian slipped through the chaos, making his way toward the sacred artifact.
Struggling to hold his ground against the onslaught, Milt shouted toward Nina, "Lady Nina, please give me a hand!"
Seeing Milt call for reinforcement, Xirin immediately countered, "Lady Nina, don’t help him! I have something to tell you."
"What is it?" Nina asked flatly.
Instead of answering her directly, Xirin turned his eyes to Idir. "Idir, do you actually know who blew the whistle on your father being cursed all those years ago?"
Idir’s brow furrowed slightly. "Who?"
Xirin shot a mocking glance at Milt. "It was Milt. He’s the one who leaked the secret to us. He’s been hiding his true colors all this time just to steal the City Lord’s throne."
"Are you telling the truth?" Idir asked, his voice laced with suspicion. How could Milt have discovered his father’s curse? Had he been there at the time?
"I swear by the Beast God that everything I say is the absolute truth," Xirin declared confidently. "If you don’t believe me, ask the other elders."
Idir fixed Milt with a sharp, piercing gaze. "Were you the one who ratted him out?"
Milt denied it instantly. "It wasn’t me! Don’t let Xirin manipulate you."
Yet, Idir’s suspicion lingered. Xirin didn’t look like he was lying, and he had even sworn a sacred oath.
An elder from Xirin’s faction stepped forward to corroborate the story. "Idir, I can testify to that. It was indeed Milt who brought the information to us."
"Idir, don’t listen to them! They’re all in cahoots," Milt pleaded urgently. "I always respected your father deeply. Why would I ever do such a thing?"
Idir wavered, deeply conflicted. Who was he supposed to believe?
Leaving Milt and Idir to their doubts, Xirin turned back to Nina. "Lady Nina, let’s strike a deal. If you help me eliminate Milt, I won’t just give you the sacred artifact—I’ll give you half of this city as well." He paused, sweetening the pot even further. "Heck, you can take the entire city if you want."
Even if he couldn’t be the City Lord himself, he wanted Milt dead to satisfy his thirst for revenge. Idir was merely one of Nina’s many beast husbands; Xirin was confident that no one could turn down an offer this massive.

"You were the one who killed Idir’s father back then, weren’t you?" Nina questioned coldly.
Xirin’s face shifted uncomfortably, and he quickly tried to justify himself. "I was misled by Milt too." Suddenly, nervousness crept into his chest. Could this female really be crazy enough to reject such an incredible offer just for Idir’s sake?
Nina let out a cold scoff. "If I want the sacred artifact, I don’t need you to give it to me. And I couldn’t care less about your city."
Idir stepped up right beside Nina. "Nina, I want to kill them myself."
Nina nodded supportively. "Go ahead. Kill whoever you need to, but stay safe. Call me if you need any help."
"Okay."
A faint smile touched Idir’s lips. When he turned back to face Xirin, his expression instantly froze into icy malice. "Even if Milt was the whistleblower, you are still my enemy. I am going to kill you today and avenge my father."
He would get to the bottom of the Milt situation later, but Xirin had to die now.
Xirin’s expression darkened. He hadn’t expected Lady Nina to actually throw away such a massive fortune just to appease Idir.
Idir launched a ferocious attack straight at Xirin.
Feeling the raw power behind the strike, Xirin was caught off guard. He hadn’t expected Idir to grow this incredibly strong in such a short amount of time. Dodging the blow, he quickly barked an order to Tair. "Tair! Deal with Idir first!"
Tair frowned, but he moved quickly to intercept Idir. Milt then stepped in to double-team Tair alongside Idir, while Alar rushed over to back Tair up. The four males collided, their battle instantly turning into a brutal, chaotic free-for-all.
