Chapter 167: Chapter 131: Want to Sleep Together

"We succeeded!"

"Finally..."

Watching the Goblins retreat, the Adventurers didn’t break out into a wild celebration.

It wasn’t that they weren’t happy, but that they simply had no strength left.

The long battle against an enemy that outnumbered them dozens of times over had left them utterly exhausted.

Landon held a hand to his forehead and let out a long sigh.

Even as a Level 4 Mage, after a continuous barrage of Magic, his Magic Power was nearly depleted. The mental strain was even more severe; he would need a long rest to recover.

And just now...

Recalling the Assassin Goblin that had suddenly rushed him, he was still frightened.

If that young man hadn’t blocked it in time, he’d probably be a corpse right now.

At this thought, Landon’s gaze, now filled with astonishment, turned to Lin Mo.

’He can use Magic, he’s a Warrior, and he’s fast...’

And he took down an Assassin Goblin with a Threat Level possibly near 3 with almost no effort.

’This young man is so strong!’

Landon had been in Silver Stream City for many years and had seen his share of geniuses from the Royal Capital who came for training, but none had shocked him as much as Lin Mo.

Not even the so-called once-in-a-century magical prodigy of the Kingdom.

If it were a pure comparison of magical talent, perhaps she was slightly stronger. But in terms of overall ability, Landon felt that this young man named Lin Mo was even superior to her!

He walked up to Lin Mo and took the initiative to speak. "Thanks for that, little brother."

Lin Mo smiled. "Don’t mention it. I just had a sudden thought that it might be an Assassin. Without you, we wouldn’t have been able to hold this position either."

Although he had been the one to take out their strongest Commander, Landon had contributed more to the overall effort.

That was the power of a Mage. A Level 4 Mage was like a magical turret; every attack could eliminate at least a dozen Goblins.

Of course, Lin Mo’s performance in the battle had also been outrageous.

His initial string of Magic spells was quite effective, and his subsequent melee combat mowed down a swath of Goblins. Besides, protecting the team’s main damage dealer was a contribution in itself.

They didn’t need to clean up the chaotic battlefield; the townspeople would help with that later.

As for the number of monsters killed, it could only be roughly estimated based on performance during the battle and descriptions from each other.

However, Adventurers were mostly pragmatic about this. Lies would be easily exposed, so overall, there wouldn’t be much of a discrepancy.

It was late at night, and the battle on the main front was still raging. But in their condition, it wasn’t wise to rush into another fight. It was better to get a good rest and wait until tomorrow.

This battle was far from over...

Their interception had only thwarted one of the Goblins’ surprise attacks and depleted a portion of the enemy’s "forces."

Making the Goblin Army retreat wouldn’t be so simple.

Many Adventurers who were severely drained of Physical Strength or injured simply chose to find a nearby spot to rest, waiting for the people from Silver Moon Town to clear the battlefield and take them back.

Lin Mo still had some strength left and was uninjured, so he wasn’t in such a sorry state.

Ali had initially exhausted her strength and sustained some injuries, but after falling back to protect Feney, she had recovered a bit. Her wounds were healed with a Life Potion.

As for Feney...

The girl had really pushed herself too hard. She had downed two Magic Potions to provide Healing for the Adventurers, and the mental overload had caused her to pass out against a tree.

Lin Mo walked over, gently picked her up, and headed toward the town.

’Time to go back and get some proper rest.’

After being out of combat for a while, Lin Mo’s Physical Strength began to recover.

He was still walking and holding Feney, but her weight was no burden for the current Lin Mo. In fact, the soft feeling of the young Priest in his arms was rather healing in itself.

Feeling a bit better and seeing no immediate danger, Lin Mo looked at his Skill Level panel to take stock of his gains from the recent battle.

The more he looked, the more his brow unfurrowed. Though the fight had been tough, the amount of Skill Level he’d farmed was substantial.

Besides the Skills that had upgraded and evolved, Lin Mo hadn’t forgotten to use his Defense Class Skill—Resilience—during collisions with slightly stronger monsters, gaining some experience for it.

"Skill [Resilience] Level 2 (20/20) has leveled up!"

"Current Skill [Resilience] Level 3 (11/40)"

This Skill leveled up fastest when facing stronger enemies. For instance, he had gained several Skill Level points when fighting the Assassin Goblin earlier.

As for weaker monsters, even adult Mutated Goblins, it wasn’t very effective anymore.

Lin Mo recalled how he had leveled up [Tenacity]. If he could find a relatively strong Professional, someone Level 3 and above, he could probably train and level up in the same way.

But hiring a Level 3 Professional wouldn’t come at the same price. He’d have to consider the cost.

As for the skill’s additional damage reflection effect...

’Well, they wouldn’t know anyway. They’d just think it was the force of impact.’

’That little bit of reflected damage probably wouldn’t hurt a Level 3 Professional, as long as it doesn’t happen too many times.’

In any case, he’d think about these things after this was all over. For now, he’d let the Goblin "instructors" be his training partners.

After checking his Skills, Lin Mo looked at his current Attributes.

[Name]: Lin Mo

[Profession]: Warrior Level 2, Knight Level 2, Assassin Level 1, Mage Level 1

[Attributes]:

Strength: 29 (36)

Agility: 18 (24)

Constitution: 21 (31)

Spirit: 6 (7)

Magic Power: 11 (15)

Fire Element Affinity: 25%

Including the Profession boosts, 36 Strength and 31 Constitution were undoubtedly Excellent, and 24 Agility was also decent.

Magic Power meant he was on the right track. As for the 7 Spirit...

’I guess it’ll have to do.’

The next priority, aside from continuing to practice Magic, would be to focus on reaching Level 3 Warrior and Level 2 Assassin.

Their corresponding Basic Attributes were only 1 and 2 points away, respectively, so those should be the quickest upgrades to get.

In terms of specific Skills, it would still be a while before [Sword Storing and Continuous Slash] leveled up. Continuous Thrust would be a bit easier, but not by much.

After all, it was currently close to Level 4, and he still had to get through Level 5 and Level 6.

As for Assassin Skills, [Invisibility] wasn’t far from Level 6, but as an Excellence Level Skill, it still had one more level, Level 7, to go.

’Thinking about it this way, leveling up quickly will be pretty difficult unless I can learn a New Skill.’

Lin Mo planned to take a look when he got back to town. He still had money, so he could buy one or two if he had to.

It was just that Skill Scrolls were quite expensive. The price was too high, making them not very cost-effective.

’If only someone could teach me...’

Speaking of which, Lin Mo had never tried learning a Skill by being taught by someone, rather than using a Scroll.

He had heard it was far less efficient than learning from a Scroll, but it was hard to say for sure.

A normal person would take months to learn from a Scroll, but Lin Mo could master it in a short time.

Lost in these thoughts, he arrived back in Silver Moon Town before he knew it.

He went straight back to the inn room the Association president had arranged for them and gently placed Feney on the bed.

"Mmm... Nngh..."

A muffled mumble escaped her lips. Her brow was still slightly furrowed, and she seemed uncomfortable.

Lin Mo was about to turn and leave when she suddenly grabbed the corner of his clothes.

"Momma... don’t go..."

Lin Mo turned back and gave her a somewhat awkward glance.

Feney was still talking in her sleep. "Don’t leave me all alone..."

He gently stroked Feney’s hair and tucked her in. Her expression gradually relaxed, and her hand slowly let go.

Lin Mo turned, left, and closed the door, heading to the next room to rest.

A moment later, a figure abruptly appeared by Feney’s bedside, gazing at her quietly with a pair of pale gold pupils.

"Sister Shefilya..."

Feney called out this name in a daze. The Maid standing by the bed was momentarily stunned, her gaze growing even softer.

"I’m here, my lady."

Whether in response or just to herself, she spoke softly, a faint, almost imperceptible smile gracing her lips.

In the next room, Ali—who had slipped in after Lin Mo as if it were the most natural thing in the world—took off her armor and went straight to the bathroom to shower.

She came out after a short while, flopped onto the bed, and patted the space beside her.

Lin Mo smiled helplessly. "Don’t you have your own room?"

"That one? Even a dog wouldn’t use it."

Ali pouted, then looked at him expectantly. "I want to sleep with you!"

What could Lin Mo say? He couldn’t just kick her out. So he went into the bathroom, took a quick shower, and didn’t bother with pajamas. After drying himself off, he got into bed.

The already drowsy Ali immediately snuggled up to him, wrapping her arms around his waist and nuzzling her head into his chest with a blissfully silly expression.

If he weren’t so tired, Lin Mo definitely wouldn’t have let her just sleep. He would have insisted on getting some "exercise" in with the Little Wolf Girl.

But not today. He really needed to get some proper sleep...

Holding her soft body, sleepiness quickly overtook him. Lin Mo closed his eyes and fell into a deep slumber.

They returned near dawn and slept until the afternoon.

Lin Mo opened his eyes, moved the arms and legs draped over him, and sat up, stretching lazily.

It felt like the old days when he would pull an all-nighter gaming and then sleep through the day.

But his current Constitution was on a different level. Waking up now didn’t come with dizziness, headaches, or an aching back.

’I wonder if Feney’s awake yet?’

He poked Ali’s cheek. The Little Wolf Girl swished her tail impatiently and grumbled through her nose.

Lin Mo kept poking. The ears on Ali’s head twitched with each poke until she finally, groggily, half-opened her eyes and chomped down on his finger.

A slight sting was followed by a warm sensation.

Ali gently gnawed with her teeth, her lips wrapped around his finger. Then, after a slightly harder bite, she released her teeth and began to suck on it.

’Why does this feeling seem a little familiar?’
