Chapter 166: Chapter 130: New Skill Giant Shield Charge, Level 2 Knight
So, among this raiding party of Goblins, there had to be a more powerful one that hadn’t shown itself.
’But the Goblins have already launched their final assault. Logically, it should have appeared by now, right?’
Even if it was a Caster that needed protection, it should have used its Magic Techniques long ago to help its kin.
It wasn’t a frontline Profession like a Warrior or Knight, and it wasn’t a Mage. ’So what could it be?’
Lin Mo’s gaze quickly fell upon Landon.
As a Mage, Landon had protection at the start of the battle, of course. But as the fight dragged on, those Warriors had no choice but to fully commit to the fray, making it impossible to worry about protecting him.
Landon himself was completely absorbed by the unfolding battle.
’If the enemy has an Assassin...’
The moment he realized this, Lin Mo was already moving toward Landon. Sure enough, it wasn’t long before trouble started.
This Goblin Assassin was incredibly cunning. It was about the same height as an Ordinary Goblin and even looked similar, hiding among its own kind amidst the chaos, making it impossible to spot.
Even on close inspection, one could only make out some faint, bluish-gray markings on its body. Otherwise, it looked exactly like an Ordinary Goblin.
But it was incredibly strong. Judging by the speed of its last attack, it was even faster than Lin Mo. Its Threat Level was at least Level 2.5, maybe even higher!
"Leave this one to me."
Lin Mo said to Landon, who was behind him, "You just focus on the front lines."
"Okay."
Landon nodded, his trust evident as he looked away and once again cast Wind Roll Skill, which swept across the main battlefield.
The Goblin Assassin grew frantic. It gripped its dagger with its one remaining hand and charged at him.
Lin Mo activated Invisibility. Using the advantage of his stealth, he blocked its path. He drew the dagger at his waist with his left hand to parry the strike while his right hand, holding his Sword, thrust viciously toward the creature’s abdomen.
He made a conservative thrust, not aiming for a vital point, but this also made it harder to dodge.
Although the Goblin Assassin reacted instantly, the blade still grazed its side, leaving a long gash.
’It’s not over yet!’
Lin Mo’s eyes narrowed. His Sword, which had nearly stopped, suddenly shot forward again, pursuing the creature in the direction it had dodged.
Continuous Thrust!
The sudden follow-up attack caught the Goblin completely off guard. The Sword pierced straight through its abdomen, and blood gushed out.
An Assassin might be fast, but it’s also a squishy Profession. With Lin Mo’s Sword strike landing true, the creature had no chance to struggle.
Lin Mo dropped the dagger from his left hand and seized the Goblin’s wrist, holding it in a death grip.
He released the hilt of his Sword with his right hand and pressed his palm against the Goblin’s forehead.
The next moment, Lin Mo smiled faintly as lightning crackled in his hand.
Thunder Strike Skill!
Brilliant electricity coursed through the Goblin’s body, charring it completely black.
"HISS—!"
Lin Mo let go and rubbed his tingling palm. Once Magic Power was formally shaped into Magic, it was no longer completely controllable—at least, not for him at his current level. As a result, he had gotten a bit of a shock himself.
Luckily, he was only hit by the aftershock, and the Magic wasn’t too powerful, so his hand just felt a little tingly.
’Have to be more careful next time,’ he thought. ’This kind of cool-looking move isn’t worth it...’
Despite the small mishap, Lin Mo had undoubtedly achieved his main objective.
Thunder Strike Skill had successfully killed the Goblin Assassin, which didn’t have a very high Constitution. Naturally, the Skill Level was added to this powerful Thunder Magic.
Thunder Strike Skill Level +20
’Just as I thought. This guy’s Threat Level was extremely close to Level 3!’
Lin Mo remembered that the Crimson Flame Tiger he had killed only gave him 23 points of Skill Level.
So much Skill Level naturally allowed the Level 1 Thunder Strike Skill to level up smoothly.
"Skill [Thunder Strike Skill] Level 1 (10/10) has leveled up!"
"Current Skill: [Thunder Strike Skill] Level 2 (12/20)"
Not only had it leveled up, but it wasn’t far from Level 3.
’So this is the benefit of saving a little Magic Power... you can use Magic to score the big kills.’
Lin Mo smiled in satisfaction. He casually cut off the Goblin Assassin’s ear and rejoined the battle.
With their leader’s death, the Goblins’ final offensive quickly petered out. Moments later, they scattered and fled...
