Just as Ding Jiawang was about to hang up the phone, Qin Sisi suddenly thought of something and urgently asked, "Have you asked Wu Menglei? Could Jiayuan be with him?"
Recalling some details of her interactions with Ding Jiayuan, it was quite clear that she was very fond of Wu Menglei.
Ding Jiawang replied somewhat annoyed, "Yes, I have asked him, that’s why I am worried."
"What do you mean?" Qin Sisi couldn’t understand Ding Jiawang’s cryptic words.
"It’s hard to explain on the phone. Let’s talk more in person!" Ding Jiawang was genuinely anxious. He hastily said goodbye and hung up the phone. After quickly explaining to his parents, he hurriedly drove toward Qin Sisi’s house.
Mr. Ding took their driver with him in another car to search in the city. Mrs. Ding stayed at home waiting for news. What if Ding Jiayuan came home by herself?
While waiting for Ding Jiawang, Qin Sisi discussed the situation with Ye You. Ye You also remembered the lively and adorable girl to some degree. However, without any leads, he could not guarantee what could be achieved with only his power.
Ye You pondered for a moment then said, "Let’s go and look for her first. If we really can’t find her, we can ask yellow cat to bring more cats to help."
"Yes, why didn’t I think of that!" Qin Sisi slapped her forehead in annoyance. She was so flustered upon hearing about Ding Jiayuan’s disappearance that she didn’t think of asking the cats for help.
What puzzled Qin Sisi was, why would Ding Jiayuan disappear?
Although the girl might be a bit childish and mischievous, she was not a child who didn’t understand things!
Did something serious happen, or did she just go out to play like the police suggested?
After an hour of restless waiting, Ding Jiawang finally arrived. He called Qin Sisi from outside the residential complex. As it was too late, the electric gates were closed, and Ding Jiawang, with no access card, couldn’t get in.
Qin Sisi had already prepared for this. As soon as she received Ding Jiawang’s call, she quickly went downstairs, clutching Ye You, and headed towards the gate of the community.
Only one car was parked at the entrance of the complex. Qin Sisi didn’t know the make of the car, but she could tell that it was an expensive luxury car. The red tail lights were flashing, clearly waiting for someone.
Qin Sisi hurried over, and the passenger door opened. Ding Jiawang, leaning over from the driver’s seat, told Qin Sisi, "Get in first, we’ll talk as we go."
In light of the urgency, Qin Sisi simply got into the passenger’s seat, buckled up, and simultaneously, Ding Jiawang started the car.
Seeing how smoothly Ding Jiawang drove, unlike someone who was indecisive, Qin Sisi wondered, "Where should we look?"
Ding Jiawang drove and replied, "We’re going to Manten Plaza. Jiayuan met Wu Menglei there in the afternoon."
Qin Sisi’s heart lightened a bit knowing that there was a clue. She quickly pressed on, "Since they’ve met up, does Wu Menglei know where Jiayuan is?"
Ding Jiawang shook his head and said with a tone of frustration, "He doesn’t know. That silly girl went and confessed her feelings to Wu Menglei."
"Ah?" Qin Sisi widened her eyes. It was evident that Ding Jiayuan liked Wu Menglei, but she didn’t expect her to confess directly, especially considering that she was only sixteen and still in high school, whereas Wu Menglei was already in college.
"What was Wu Menglei’s response?" Despite feeling that this was a bit of an invasion of privacy, Qin Sisi decided to ask anyway, as Ding Jiayuan’s disappearance might be connected to this.
However, Qin Sisi pretty much knew the answer to this question already.
Back when Wu Menglei had his soul enticed away by the female ghost Yao Shujun and Qin Sisi had gone to rescue him, she had met Wu Menglei and his family. Their attitude towards Ding Jiayuan was indifferent, and Wu Menglei’s look at Ding Jiayuan was one of polite affection, but lacked genuine warmth.
Ding Jiawang exhaled and said, "He rejected Jiayuan, and then left. He didn’t know Jiayuan was missing until I called him."
Qin Sisi thought for a moment and said, "Since they met at Manten Plaza, Jiayuan, being upset, might not have gone too far."
Ding Jiawang nodded, "That’s what I was thinking, so we’ll start our search from Manten Plaza."
Qin Sisi didn’t speak any further, she looked down at Ye You. Even though they now had a lead, she still felt very heavy-hearted.
Would Jiayuan stay at Manten Plaza the entire time?
If she went somewhere else afterwards, what then?
She shook her head after mulling it over, throwing away all her messy thoughts and decided to pin her hopes on Manten Plaza for now.
The large supermarket on the first floor of Manten Plaza was open 24-hours, and even though it was past midnight, the supermarket was still brightly lit.
Ding Jiawang parked the car and together with Qin Sisi, walked towards the entrance of the mall, but they were stopped by the security guard, who refused to allow a pet inside.
Qin Sisi awkwardly froze, as she couldn’t just ignore the rules of the mall, but she felt insecure without Ye You by her side.
Ding Jiawang handed her the car keys, saying, "You can leave the cat in the car."
Qin Sisi reluctantly nodded. She took the keys and headed towards the parking lot where Ding Jiawang left his car. When they were out of sight, she quickly asked Ye You, "What should I do? Do I go in alone?"
"No need." Ye You tersely replied, then leapt onto Qin Sisi’s shoulder, "Can you see me now?"
Qin Sisi blinked, and Ye You had indeed disappeared, but she could still feel his weight and warmth. He was right there on her shoulder, not gone at all.
Qin Sisi immediately felt at ease, smiling she said, "You’re great."
"Let’s go." Ye You laughed lightly. Maybe Qin Sisi’s mood was infectious, even his voice sounded somewhat warmer.
Qin Sisi turned around and confidently walked back toward the entrance of the mall, returning the car key to Ding Jiawang at the entrance.
Ding Jiawang saw Qin Sisi coming back empty-handed. Assuming that she had stashed the cat in the car, he didn’t ask anything further, and together, they walked into the mall.
Looking at the vast expanse of the shopping mall, Ding Jiawang was slightly dizzy. He anxiously asked, "Do we just start looking like this?"
Even Qin Sisi was a bit at a loss, she hesitated then said, "Let me think."
If Ding Jiayuan was indeed still at Manten Plaza, where would she be?
Having been rejected by the boy she had been crushing on for some time, she’d probably not be in the mood to roam the mall. A young girl might cry, but for fear of being seen, she’d likely find the quietest, least crowded place. The most likely place would be... the restroom.
