Chapter 54: Chapter 54 Da Hua’s Wish_1
In the brightly-lit room, Xiao Dan’s mother, donning a set of casual housewear, paced back and forth holding a small infant in her arms. Her brows furrowed in anxiety as worried lines showed clearly on her face.
The infant cradled in her arms was wailing. Qin Sisi and Ye You had been hearing this baby’s cries. From Qin Sisi’s point of view, she could see the baby’s tiny fists clenching tightly as it struggled vehemently.
A plump orange tabby with yellow stripes scurried restlessly at Xiao Dan’s mother’s feet, incessantly mewing. It should be Da Hua.
Xiao Dan’s mother, a common human, couldn’t perceive the unusual phenomena occurring around her. She tried hard to soothe her child, but Qin Sisi and Ye You could see the real reason behind the baby’s tears.
It was because of Xiao Dan.
Xiao Dan’s ghost was right there in the room. She was still clad in her school uniform - a white blouse and a blue skirt, but compared to when she was in Xiyuan Park, she wasn’t fragile and pitiful anymore.
Her features now twisted into a grotesque expression, eyes brimming with ruthless malice, Xiao Dan hovered in mid-air, feet off the ground. Her tiny, pallid hands were tightly clutching the baby’s throat.
However, since she has not achieved corporeality, her actions were yet unable to inflict any physical harm on the baby. But the baby’s Yang energy was weak, it could distinctly feel the chill and terror emanating from the ghost near it. The weaker ones could even see the ghost’s presence.
Under such terrifying pressure, infants would stop eating and drinking, filled with continued distress. If things continued this way, the puny baby wouldn’t survive to see the end of the week—it would inevitably die.
"How can this be?" Qin Sisi’s eyes widened in shock. How could such a cute and naïve little girl of about Nine years old do something so terrifying?
Unable to help herself, Qin Sisi stammered and started to interject Xiao Dan, but Ye You stopped her, saying, "Don’t get too close. If we accidently touch her, it could frighten her and be detrimental to our operation."
Desperately, Qin Sisi asked, "Then what should we do? If this continues, someone will end up dead!" The baby’s cries became even louder, tearing at their hearts.
"Let me handle it." Ye You spoke in a deep voice. He swiftly raised his paw, and a golden rope whirred towards Xiao Dan. In the next second, the rope bound her arms, tying her tightly.
As Ye You gradually retracted his claws, the golden rope also began to shorten. Xiao Dan, startled and furious, struggled helplessly. In no time, she was drawn into the Invisible Bubble.
Qin Sisi finally exhaled in relief. She glanced at Ye You admiringly, then turned to confront Xiao Dan urgently, "Xiao Dan, what on earth are you doing?"
Initially, Xiao Dan stayed mum, only twisting her body rigorously attempting to break free of the golden rope wielded by Ye You. However, it was not easy to shake off an artifact bestowed from the Demon Sacred Realm by a mere ghost.
Realizing she couldn’t escape, Xiao Dan clenched her teeth in anger and shouted at Qin Sisi, "Let me go! I must kill that baby, that boy!"
Qin Sisi furrowed her brows, grabbed Xiao Dan’s shoulder, and questioned her doubtfully, "Why? Why harm an innocent baby?"
The floodgates in Xiao Dan’s eyes suddenly opened letting loose a stream of tears. "He’s my little brother. I didn’t know I had a brother until now. I’ve been in Xiyuan Park for so long, all alone, dwelling in the cold and dark. Everyday, I wished for mom and dad to come and fetch me, but they already had another child—They’ve abandoned me." She wept as she spoke, "I hate them. I hate my brother, he has taken everything from me!"
Qin Sisi finally grasped the situation. Elated to return home with her parents following their time in the park, Xiao Dan discovered that her longed-for mom and dad already had another child. As a result of her emotional vulnerability, Xiao Dan exhibited such extreme behavior.
Qin Sisi had just started to think of some words to console Xiao Dan when Ye You suddenly changed his expression and quickly said, "We need to leave, we only have ten seconds left."
Startled, Qin Sisi didn’t wait to respond. She rushed to the balcony, leapt out the open window, invoked the Wings of Rainbow and landed safely with Ye You and Xiao Dan.
The cool autumn wind whipped her hair around as she took note of the diminished crying and breathed a sigh of relief assuming the baby was safe. Lifting her gaze upwards instinctively, she was surprised to spot a dark mass falling from the window.
Her heart racing, she sped up her descent. Soon, they hit the firm ground below just as the Invisible Bubble faded. Qin Sisi retracted the Wings of Rainbow at the last moment.
The moment they stabilized on the ground, an object dropped from above and landed right before them without making a single noise.
Qin Sisi looked at it in astonishment, only to find that the object was Da Hua, the plump orange and yellow tabby cat.
Da Hua, wobbling under its own weight, moved closer to Qin Sisi and meowed insistently, as if wanting to communicate something.
Qin Sisi looked at Ye You quizzically. Ye You, with a deeper look in his eyes, replied, "It says it can sense Xiao Dan, and it has something to say to her."
"What?" Qin Sisi was taken aback. Wasn’t it that only those with Spiritual Power could see ghosts? Could it be that Da Hua was a unique cat?
It appeared that Ye You knew what Qin Sisi was thinking. He said, "It does not possess Spiritual Power. It may be that it’s extraordinarily sensitive and shares a deep bond with Xiao Dan."
Sometimes, the bond between pets and their owners, particularly young owners, would reach an inexplicable level of depth.
After pondering for a moment, Qin Sisi said, "It appears quite anxious. We should help it."
Ye You nodded, and with a wave of his paw, a dazzling silver light shot into Da Hua. This was Spiritual Power from the Magic Source, allowing Da Hua to see the ghost and interact with it temporarily.
Da Hua’s body stiffened for a moment and then it blinked. Overcome by emotion, it leaped and darted towards Xiao Dan meowing non-stop.
Xiao Dan stared blankly at Da Hua, who kept on calling out to her. She slowly squatted down, her voice choked with emotion, "Da Hua, you mean, you still remember me?"
Da Hua nodded its head fervently while continuously meowing.
Seeing Xiao Dan’s emotions calm down a bit, Ye You retracted the golden rope that bound her. However, his purple eyes never left them, wary of any unexpected situations.
Now free, Xiao Dan immediately spread her arms to tightly embrace Da Hua.
"Da Hua... Da Hua..."
Xiao Dan sobbed incessantly, tears flowing like a river onto Da Hua’s soft fur.
Watching the scene, Qin Sisi sighed softly and couldn’t help but ask Ye You, "What did Da Hua say?"
Ye You paused before replying, "It said, ’I remember you, no matter how long you’ve been away, I will always remember you.’"
