Chapter 284: Chapter 284: Food and Sex are Natural Desires_1
Inside Jia Xin’s boudoir, a skinny girl was sound asleep on the bed.
Although she was pretty much certain of the identity of the girl in her heart, Qin Sisi still confirmed it with Zhou Zimeng: "Is it her?"
Zhou Zimeng nodded forcefully.
Ye You immediately jumped down from Qin Sisi’s shoulder, walked up to Jia Xin and placed a claw on her head.
While Ye You was reading her memories, Qin Sisi took a closer look at Jia Xin. She had an average appearance; the type of girl that wouldn’t attract much attention in a crowd.
After a while, Ye You withdrew his claw and jumped back onto Qin Sisi’s shoulder, his eyes dark as he nodded at Qin Sisi.
It was indeed her!
Qin Sisi sighed in her heart and felt a little reluctant to tell Zhou Zimeng the truth.
We sought the truth wholeheartedly, thinking that finding it would be a relief, and everyone would be happy. But we didn’t expect the truth to be so cruel, as if it was sprinkling salt on an already bleeding wound.
Seeing Qin Sisi in silence for a long while, Zhou Zimeng was getting worried. She urged, "Master Mage, what’s going on? Please, tell me!"
Qin Sisi looked at Zhou Zimeng with pity, then cast a meaningful look at the sleeping Jia Xin.
Following Qin Sisi’s gaze, Zhou Zimeng too looked at Jia Xin, and a conclusion she could hardly accept formed in her heart. She stared at Jia Xin in disbelief and murmured, "Could it be... could it be that Jia Xin did it?"
Qin Sisi nodded softly and said in a solemn voice, "Yes, she did it all."
Even though she had already had suspicions in her heart, this confirmation from Qin Sisi shook Zhou Zimeng so much that she staggered backward in near panic. She stammered, "How could it be? How could it be? She is my best friend! How could she do this to me? How could she?"
During the time she wandered as a wild ghost after death, Zhou Zimeng had revisited the events over and over again in her memories. She suspected every classmate but never Jia Xin.
In her heart, Jia Xin was the best friend. She had never imagined that the real perpetrator behind all the troubles would be this best friend of hers.
Suddenly, a thought crossed Zhou Zimeng’s mind. She grabbed Qin Sisi’s arm and asked, "Why? Why would she do such a thing? Did I offend her in some way?"
Ye You lowered his head and whispered a few "meows" into Qin Sisi’s ear.
Despite the pain in her arm caused by Zhou Zimeng’s grip, Qin Sisi frowned and said, "Because she also likes Yang Yihang."
"Impossible!" Zhou Zimeng let go of Qin Sisi and took a step back as she refuted. "She told me she was not interested in Yang Yihang. She doesn’t like handsome boys, says they don’t make her feel secure."
Qin Sisi looked at Zhou Zimeng and simply replied, "Appetite and lust are human nature."
Appetite and lust are human nature. It’s natural to be attracted to beautiful people or things.
No one can confidently say they are attracted to ugliness.
Even if a beautiful woman marries an ugly man, or a handsome man marries an ugly woman, their love isn’t based on the other’s ugliness.
It’s because they are attracted to something beyond the ugliness.
It could be a gentle and kind heart, a faithful and responsible personality, or mountains of wealth.
If an average-looking girl claims she’s not interested in a handsome boy before she even knows him well, it may be a cover for her deep-rooted insecurity.
At this moment, Ye You whispered into Qin Sisi’s ear: "The duration of the invisibility bubble is running out. We need to leave now."
Qin Sisi quickly nodded, grabbed Zhou Zimeng’s hand and said, "Our invisibility is about to run out. Let’s go."
Zhou Zimeng, who seemed to be in a daze, snapped back to reality and let Qin Sisi lead her toward the door.
As Zhou Zimeng’s gaze casually swept over Jia Xin’s desk, she was suddenly drawn to an object—a beautifully-bound notebook.
She found it odd. She used to spend time at Jia Xin’s place and was familiar with the things on her desk, but she had never seen this notebook before.
A thought occurred to Zhou Zimeng. She abruptly let go of Qin Sisi’s hand, ran up to Jia Xin’s desk, picked up the notebook and took a brief look inside.
In just a few moments, Zhou Zimeng was certain that it was Jia Xin’s diary, and a highly private one at that.
Perhaps it contained some secrets about herself.
"Zhou Zimeng, hurry up!" Qin Sisi urged from the front.
Zhou Zimeng responded and, clutching the beautiful diary, caught up with Qin Sisi. They then left Jia Xin’s house together.
Qin Sisi, along with Ye You and Zhou Zimeng, leapt off the balcony of Jia Xin’s house. After flying for about two to three minutes, the duration of the invisibility bubble expired.
Qin Sisi had no choice but to land as quickly as possible and put away the Wings of Rainbow.
For the remaining journey, Ye You used magic to form a semi-transparent silver sphere to carry Qin Sisi and Zhou Zimeng back to Lin Shan and Chen Lan’s residence.
Despite being amazed by the flying silver sphere, Zhou Zimeng was too occupied by her best friend Jia Xin’s betrayal and paid little attention to Qin Sisi’s affairs.
Qin Sisi thought Lin Shan and Chen Lan would have already retired for the night, so she entered the house directly through the balcony window.
Upon entering the living room, she found that Lin Shan and Chen Lan didn’t go back to their bedrooms to sleep, but were both dozing off on the sofa.
Hearing Qin Sisi’s footsteps, Lin Shan and Chen Lan woke up, and seeing Qin Sisi return safely, they both breathed a sigh of relief.
With a relieved smile, Lin Shan was the first to greet her: "Sisi, you’re back!"
Qin Sisi nodded and smiled, "I’m back, don’t worry."
Then Chen Lan asked, "How did the investigation go?"
Qin Sisi responded loud and clear: "Everything has been investigated."
Chen Lan also revealed a smile of relief.
Qin Sisi then turned to Lin Shan: "Shan Shan, this matter has nothing to do with you. You should go back to your room and rest."
Knowing that Qin Sisi meant well, Lin Shan nodded and went back to her own bedroom.
Qin Sisi picked up Chen Lan’s glasses left on the coffee table and asked Ye You to infuse them with spiritual power once again.
The validity of each infusion of spiritual power was only twenty-four hours.
After putting on the glasses, Chen Lan saw Zhou Zimeng standing behind Qin Sisi.
Zhou Zimeng looked gloomy, her face streaked with tears.
Chen Lan went up to Zhou Zimeng and asked with concern, "Zimeng, what’s wrong? Didn’t they say everything was investigated?"
"Teacher Chen..." Zhou Zimeng muttered, then suddenly threw herself into Chen Lan’s arms and started crying out loud.
Chen Lan was a bit confused, but seeing Zhou Zimeng crying so desperately, she could only hold her tenderly, softly comforting her.
