Chapter 900: Chapter 677: Double Provocation
The massive army of the Azure Sky Empire was divided into two parts that attacked each other, while Ruosha stood as an independent third party caught between them.
Crown Prince Fang Zuo, who acted as Ruosha’s underling, still followed by Ruosha’s side. Ever since he witnessed Ruosha’s ability to blow someone to death with a single breath, Fang Zuo immediately realized that his continued survival was extremely fortunate. After all, at that time, Ruosha had merely pressed him under a huge anchor, and judging by the weight of that anchor, crushing him to death would have been a matter of minutes!
However, at that initial encounter, Ruosha had not done so, and Fang Zuo did not believe his survival was due to anything special about himself, but rather just good luck. If Ruosha hadn’t wanted to exchange him for a resource planet, his fate might have been no different from that of the burly man.
As a result, at this moment, Fang Zuo had fallen into a blind worship of Ruosha. He believed that Ruosha would definitely win in this exercise.
The exercise began, and intense battles immediately erupted in the star field which served as the battlefield. Battleships from both sides engaged in fierce bombardment, employing numerous tactics. However, to Ruosha’s surprise, her fervent taunts before the start of the exercise failed to provoke an attack from either side. It seemed that her level of taunting was still not high enough.
Whitestar hovered all alone in the star field, far away where battleships shuttled back and forth, cannons roared, and tactics piled upon each other.
"So boring..." Ruosha said, propping her head up and yawning.
"Isn’t it better they’re not attacking us? Let’s wait until they’re all exhausted, and then we’ll sweep in and reap the benefits," Fang Zuo remarked, quite open-minded about the situation.
"Little brother, that kind of thinking is very dangerous," Ruosha said, swinging her head.
"Why?" Fang Zuo asked, puzzled.
"Why? Think about it. If we wait until they’re all beaten and tired before we attack, won’t that mean that we are truly inferior to them? Even if we win, they won’t be convinced in their hearts. So, the easiest way to make them submit both in spirit and in voice is by taking them down when they are at their strongest, making them kneel before me and respectfully call me the big sister boss!" Ruosha declared, hands on her hips.
But Fang Zuo whispered, "That’s difficult though..."
"Difficult? Ha! Little brother, you really are still not young enough!" Ruosha said, swinging her head, "Nothing is difficult in front of me!"
Thus, the factions that were engaged in fierce combat suddenly received a declaration of war from Ruosha — she would declare war on both sides simultaneously!
The massive Whitestar appeared brazenly on the battlefield. Following that, a fleet of strangely shaped battleships flew out from within Whitestar.
These were called battleships, but they were all spherical. Their volume was even less than a third of that of regular battleships. Their pitch-black surfaces were installed with numerous cannons like a hedgehog, and rune arrays propelled them to travel swiftly through space.
The appearance of this group of Spherical Battleships immediately made every commander laugh.
"What is this? A hedgehog?"
"No, I think it looks more like a child’s toy!"
The commanders from both fighting sides said, laughing loudly over the communication.
These odd battleships were completely taken as a joke, at least until they made contact with them.
Everyone was shocked by the agility of the Spherical Battleships.
While the Spherical Battleships did not have the firepower coverage of regular battleships, they were many times more agile! They did not need to turn at all; no direction needed to be considered front, back, left, or right—any side could serve as the front.
These Spherical Battleships constantly shuttled through the sky, their fire intertwining and coordinating. Since they were spherical, they had no blind spots. Charging into the midst of the enemy’s fleet, almost every one of their cannons could easily hit an enemy. When the number of such battleships reached a certain level, the density of their cannons’ fire was terrifying.
In traditional cannon duels, there had never been a tactic of rushing battleships quickly into an enemy’s fleet—at least not without committing suicide given the giant size and firepower of battleships.
But these Spherical Battleships were different; they were extremely fast and freakishly agile. At this moment, not a single one had been hit!
Though it was just an exercise and all the cannon powers were only symbolic, being pressured this way, the exercise’s judging system immediately ruled that the battleships from both sides started to sustain heavy damage and needed to exit the exercise.
How was this possible!
Each commander’s eyes widened, could the hit rate of these Black Ball battleships also be so high?
"Don’t panic! Form up and deploy the array! Provide covering fire with cross-shooting! She’s fighting both sides at once; she won’t last long!"
The commanders issued orders one after another, beginning to regroup.
The two battling sides started covering fire and retreating, while Ruosha’s Black Ball battleships also began to retreat.
For a time, the once bustling star field quieted down.
At this moment, the overall commanders of both fleets were looking at the distant Whitestar, that quiet white planet, which seemed to mock them. It was then that a burst of firework created by magic emerged above Whitestar, forming a smiling face.
It was not just seeming to mock; she was mocking them! That little girl!
"Hehe, it seems that this girl has quite the fighting spirit," the Emperor said chucklingly.
