Chapter 893: Chapter 674: The Difference Between Ordinary People and the Strong

We, as ordinary people...

Saint Jialin and August exchanged silent glances. It was one thing for Saint Jialin to be deemed an Emperor, but August was a Sanctuary Mage; it was quite something to be outright labeled as ordinary by Ai Lin.

However, at that moment, neither August nor Saint Jialin intended to discuss this issue with Ai Lin; after all, in her presence, their group indeed did not count as particularly clever.

"However, perhaps I haven’t paid enough attention, after all, I’m too strong. I might take notice, after all, I don’t want to see that self-important person continue his arrogance. It might be good to teach him a lesson," Ai Lin said, glancing at Long Yi far away. Coincidentally, Long Yi also looked over at the same time, and the two glared fiercely at each other before turning away.

Hearing Ai Lin speak like this, Saint Jialin immediately felt happy. With Ai Lin’s assurance, regardless of the outcome, at least subconsciously she was on his side, which was more important than anything else.

That night, just when everybody thought things would proceed smoothly, Ai Lin’s residence suddenly became ruins amidst a terrifying explosion. Then, Long Yi and Ai Lin rose into the air at the same time, and a fierce battle erupted between them in the sky. The Red Demon Scorpion Xiaohong and Little Zi started bombarding each other with magic.

Everyone nearby the Imperial Palace was drawn to the scene, and the Imperial Guard stood ready to protect the Emperor. However, they could offer no help in a battle of this caliber, only watching from afar. Emperor Saint Jialin and his three sons were all similarly alarmed, looking towards the distant sky above the palace where incredible Mana fluctuations burst forth, a level of battle they could hardly imagine.

August arrived shortly after, equally stunned by the strength of the two.

Despite the fact that everyone had seen Ai Lin fight and likewise seen Long Yi fight, no one had ever witnessed the limits of either Ai Lin or Long Yi. Simply put, while it was understood they were both powerful, the extent of their power was unknown.

However, considering the intensity of magic displayed in the distant battle, this level of fighting truly wasn’t something just anyone could join.

Saint Jialin was extremely anxious; he had no idea what had transpired. Everything had been fine during the day, so why did a fight suddenly break out at night? Crown Prince St. Antonio volunteered eagerly to mediate, but Saint Jialin strictly ordered him to stay put. To Ai Lin and Long Yi, your princely status is worthless; if you foolishly approach, the mere aftershocks of their magic could kill you before you even speak.

Soon, it became clear that Saint Jialin’s concerns were justified. The battle far away escalated once more, with massive spells raining down from the surrounding air, some utilizing strategic magic that was unheard of by both Saint Jialin and August, easily tearing apart nearby buildings and lifting the ground.

And August, also a Sanctuary Mage, could only watch in dumbfounded silence.

Initially, when he first met Ai Lin, August tried to teach her a lesson. But now, it seemed like sheer luck that Ai Lin didn’t have an outburst right then and there!

"Master August, what do we do?" Saint Jialin whispered to August.

"There’s nothing we can do, Your Imperial Majesty. I truly have no solution; they’re too strong for us to intervene. I think we can only quietly stand by and then await the outcome," August sighed.

Eventually, Long Yi and Ai Lin rose higher and higher until the only proof of their battle was the flickering lights against the dark sky. Everyone really wanted to see how their fight was going, but no one dared to approach.

After a while, Little Zi, who had been fighting the Red Demon Scorpion, suddenly paused, then forcefully retracted her thirteen Female Demon Avatars and dashed straight into the sky. In an instant, she was out of sight, and almost simultaneously, the flashing lights in the sky disappeared. Next, a beam of light fell from the sky, heading straight toward the Imperial Palace.

At that moment, everyone’s tension reached its peak, with the Imperial Guards arranging themselves in a formation used only when facing a formidable enemy. All those capable of casting magic stood in front of the Emperor, runes shimmering and light emanating fiercely.

However, when people saw who was falling from the sky, all unease vanished.

"Miss Ailin! It’s truly great to see you!"

Saint Jialin let out a sigh of relief, pushing through the crowd to speak.

"Don’t worry; although Long Yi is strong, defeating me is impossible," Ai Lin said.

"Then, where is Long Yi?" Saint Jialin looked left and right, not finding Long Yi.

"He left, he’s gone," Ai Lin said.

"What! Gone? Where to?" Saint Jialin’s eyes widened suddenly.

"How should I know? I’m not a Prophet," Ai Lin said with a pout.

"What on earth happened?" Saint Jialin was baffled.

"Didn’t I promise to keep an eye on Long Yi’s weaknesses?"

"Yes."

"So I observed his weaknesses. Surprisingly, Long Yi is very alert. He realized I was looking for them and got angry. That’s why we fought, and then he challenged me again—you must have all seen it."
