Chapter 575: Chapter 455: Scared? Impossible!_2
"So, what kind of airship are you planning to make?" asked Angidd. As the Dean of the Mechanical Institute, it was only natural for him to ask about the main design of the airship which would inevitably be completed in his department.
"Look, I brought the blueprint!" Long Yi pulled out a drawing, depicting a lengthy structure much like a sausage.
"This is..."
"A reinforced Zeppelin! Cool and colossal!" said Long Yi.
"Three hundred meters! It’s so big!" exclaimed Angidd, after glancing at the data below and instantly widening his eyes.
"Yes, that’s how big! And, we’re going to build six of them!" Long Yi laughed maniacally.
"Don’t even think about it! Just the Crystal Cores alone will be such a waste!" Dean Ma Deburg yelled.
"Don’t get excited, Crystal Cores, I have them. And, they’re all good too!"
The recent assistance in ending the war with the Crystal Demons meant all the remaining Crystal Cores of the defeated Crazy Demons naturally belonged to Long Yi. These were the Crystal Cores of top-tier Crazy Demons and the energy contained within was far beyond what ordinary Crystal Cores could offer.
Looking at the Crystal Cores Long Yi pulled out, Ma Deburg’s mouth started watering. High-quality Crystal Cores were always desired in higher quantities. But to use them in manufacturing airships seemed like such a waste.
However, fundamentally, these Crystal Cores did belong to Long Yi. How he chose to use them was his decision, and Ma Deburg really had no authority to change it.
Although Dean Ma Deburg couldn’t grasp the rationale, he trusted Long Yi. If Long Yi said it’d be useful, then it must be. After all, relying on Long Yi, the White Dragon Empire had already achieved a series of victories.
Deans Ma Deburg and Angidd looked at each other, it seemed they were about to become busy again!
Long Yi had provided the draft design, and the group led by Angidd would provide the structural diagram. The dwarves would handle the main body, and the power part would naturally be Dean Ma Deburg’s challenge.
Having left the Crystal Core Institute, Long Yi went straight to the Biological Institute. It had been some time since he had given the self-destructive beetle to Mrs. Nor, and he couldn’t wait to see the results. After all, his initial demands had been rather harsh.
Upon seeing Mrs. Nor, he found the typically aristocratic-looking elderly woman yawning with a weary face. She seemed extremely tired. However, seeing Long Yi arrive, her face immediately lit up with a smile.
"You’ve arrived just in time, child. Come, have a look with me!"
Huh? Could it be good news!
Long Yi followed Mrs. Nor downstairs. In a deep-set laboratory, he saw her experimental results.
It was an independent, enormous hive. Unlike a Hive Dragon’s countless caves, there was only a single structure as large as a passenger jet engine. At its forefront, a beetle could clearly be seen curled up, but its size had increased several times.
At that moment, the hive was attached to the chest of a White Dragon.
"This is a hive we copied based on your suggestions. It adheres to the chest of a dragon, drawing energy and Dragon Power from the dragon through two probes. Although it can only store one self-destructive beetle at a time, its power has increased substantially! Also, to meet your requirements, the launching speed of the beetle has been enhanced to some extent," explained Mrs. Nor.
Long Yi circled around the hive while Mrs. Nor happily introduced her work achievements and explained how each function was achieved. Essentially, most of the tasks were completed by altering some biological traits through magic, aided by some of Long Yi’s initial bioengineering results on the White Dragon. Biological research was truly the most remarkable science, as unlike cold steel assembly, every part of a biological organism served a purpose.
Without ethical considerations, Mrs. Nor and her researchers showed incredible efficiency. They conducted a series of transformations on the beetle and the hive based on Long Yi’s requirements. Despite the complexity of the process and several obstacles, a somewhat guilt-ridden Mrs. Nor was determined to complete Long Yi’s request.
"Let’s give it a test!" Long Yi pointed at the hive.
"That... might not work. Our Biological Institute’s basement does not have a weapons testing ground. To test, we will have to go to the Crystal Core Institute or Mechanical Institute," Mrs. Nor said.
"Then what are we waiting for! Let’s go!" Long Yi seemed somewhat impatient by now.
The hive detached from the White Dragon, was hastily boxed, and covered with a thick cloth. The White Dragon then reverted to resting form, following an unfamiliar Dragon Knight to the underground testing ground of the Crystal Core Institute.
"Brother, which group are you from?" Long Yi asked.
"Reporting to Group Leader Long Yi, I’m from the first group," the Dragon Knight replied.
Behind him, Little Zi made a safe gesture, indicating that this person was no problem.
"Recently the Legion Leader has contacted me and mentioned some matters," said Long Yi. "You probably know what it’s about."
The Dragon Knight nodded. "Yes, Group Leader Long Yi, I do. Did you agree?"
"I more or less did, but I still want to hear what you think. After all, there can be discrepancies in relayed information and I want to hear your real thoughts," Long Yi said.
The Dragon Knight lowered his head, thought hard for a while, then raised his head and looked at Long Yi squarely. "We want to win. We want to kill all those Black Dragon bastards. For this, we’ll spare nothing. Even if we have to turn into monsters and our lives end after the victory, we would willingly accept it! So, I hope you can help us! For this, we are all fully prepared!"
Long Yi looked at him and he looked back at Long Yi.
Then, Long Yi smiled.
"I can see the determination and bravery in your eyes. Rest assured, brother, I know what to do now. But first, let’s complete our experiment... Expect surprises!"
Not long after Long Yi left, he returned, bringing along Lady Nor of the Biological Institute. This implied to Ma Deburg and Angidd, who were planning the Airship project, one thing.
Long Yi has created something new!
The two Deans abandoned their blueprints and, claiming it was a matter of official responsibility, directly followed Long Yi to the underground testing field. The ground bore many signs of explosions, but as it was underground, it was only rocks that were blasted open.
White Dragon transformed into battle mode. The hive was taken out of a box and suctioned to White Dragon’s chest.
"First launch of the Beetle Missile," Lady Nor stated beside them, as the experimenters immediately initiated recording.
"Fire!"
Bang!
The hive exploded violently. A huge beetle was blown out by the explosion. In mid-air, the beetle spread its wings, turned a corner, and accurately hit a target boulder.
Boom!
The White Dragon’s breath triggered a white explosion. The fire instantly melted the surface of the boulder. Everyone who didn’t cover their ears in advance had a buzzing sound in them.
This power, so superb! Although the number of beetles had decreased compared with the Hive Dragon by the Chef, the explosive power of a single beetle missile increased several times over!
Long Yi was very satisfied with this shot. The next step was to see when the next beetle missile would be ready.
The durability of firepower is just as important as the power.
The crowd waited for a full five minutes before the second beetle missile was truly ready.
It is a bit slower, but still better than none, right?
Long Yi’s plan was to attach a hive to each Giant Dragon. The more attack methods you have, the more chance of victory. No one ever complains about having too many weapons.
Since the experiment was a success, the next step was mass production. Long Yi told Lady Nor to streamline the hive’s appearance a bit more, not to mention make it thinner and longer, to reduce air resistance. Lady Nor marked down all these points diligently, ready to work on them when she returned.
