Chapter 491: Chapter 380: The Disappearance of Long Yi

Black Dragon Empire.

Emperor’s study room.

The study has transformed into a laboratory, filled with a pungent smell. The new Emperor, Yake Black, sits in his chair with tubes running everywhere, with various concoctions flowing in and out of his body.

Now, he held a report in his hands, revealing no emotion on his half visible face.

"Isn’t this report too simple?" Yake put down the paper, looking at the man kneeling at his feet.

"Your Majesty, Toen died horrifically, all details of the fight have been entirely lost. These bits of information were riskily gathered from the battle zone by me." The kneeling man’s face practically touched the ground, trembling like a sieve. This new emperor is far more insane than his father, with unstable moods. When the previous Emperor Kaniel used to kill, there was always a rationale. But this emperor, he purely kills based on feelings. Not long after ascending to the throne, he axed several ministers and he held all the power of the whole country in his hands. Nobody dares to oppose this monstrous emperor.

Yake looked at the man on the ground, stayed silent for a moment, then suddenly asked the man behind him.

"Tilian, what do you think about the results of this experiment?"

Tilian held two tubes in his hand, walked out from behind the chair, connecting the tubes while looking at the content on the paper.

"It was basically a success. Just didn’t expect Long Yi to find the Black Knight’s weakness. That’s undoubtedly Toen’s doing. This is rather surprising. Toen underwent countless trainings, any form of physical torture has no effect on him." Tilian said.

"Maybe what Toen suffered wasn’t just physical. Or maybe he has been accustomed to a life of ease for too long and started to fear death." Yake said.

"The strength of the Black Knight is not an issue, but this sole weakness is quite troublesome. If we give the Black Knight free agency, it’s hard to ensure he won’t be controlled by Rongka halfway. Currently, we don’t have much room to modify the Black Knight. But the problem isn’t big. If unleashed onto the battlefield, the Black Knight would be unstoppable as long as he stays away from Long Yi and others."

Having heard Tilian’s words, Yake nodded in satisfaction. These judgements were exactly the same as his, proving once again that Tilian was indeed a loyal dog understanding my every thought.

"In that case, let’s proceed with the Black Knight scheme. It’s just pity that there isn’t much Hell Mud, otherwise, I will transform all my warriors!" Yake said with a laugh.

"There are certain special rules in this world that we don’t know about, even the powerful Rongka can’t defy those." Tilian said.

"Heh, once I unify the human realm, find the entrance to the upper plane and make my way to Rongka, I am curious to see that bastard explain each and every rule to me!" Yake smirked sinisterly and suddenly threw a punch. The explosive power swept over the man still kneeling on the ground. The man just trembled slightly, then actually melted into a puddle of black blood. The puddle of blood was drawn by some strange force into a nearby container. It then passed through numerous pipes and a series of mysterious procedures, ultimately turning into a drop of pure black liquid, falling into the goblet next to Yake. Yake looked at it, lifted the half-full goblet, and downed it.

"Power! Hahaha! This is the power I love the most! I want more! More!" Yake yelled madly.

While Tilian finished installing all the pipes, Yake had already fallen asleep. The enormous power brought along massive burdens, forcing him to constantly sleep to assimilate this power.

During Yake’s sleeping periods, all the confidential reports meant for the emperor would be sent to Tilian instead. At the moment, Tilian was not just the head scientist, he held substantial power near Yake. Policy making in the Black Dragon Empire, Yake would usually consult Tilian. Although the Black Dragon Empire was filled with dissatisfaction, that monstrous Emperor Yake has shown through his actions to every unsatisfied person. Either you comply, or wait for your execution and transformation into an undead warrior.

There is another room next to the emperor’s study, which is Tilian’s study. The books originally in the emperor’s study have been moved there due to the lab conversion in the emperor’s study. When the emperor is sleeping, all the reports to be presented to the emperor would be first reviewed by Tilian here.

Tilian attentively reads every report and makes comments. Initially, Yake would glance at Tilian’s comments, but soon Yake discovered that this former crown prince from the White Dragon Empire seems talented in governing. Therefore, he stopped looking, and regarding Tilian’s power consolidation, the ministers were unhappy, but surprisingly few people raised objections to his orders overstepping the boundaries.

Because his orders seemed to contain no errors.

Furthermore, even if they impeach Tilian, it won’t have any effect. So the ministers simply just let it be.

Currently, Tilian is in his study, positioned as the chief scientist of the Black Dragon Empire but exercising the powers of the emperor of the Black Dragon Empire.

Against the White Dragon Empire, the Black Dragon Empire established an extremely complex intelligence network, with hundreds of reports being sent here every day. Tens of spies personally report back too. But, it’s not every report that needs to reach Yake’s ears.

At the moment, one secret agent is kneeling in front of him.

"Lord Tilian, we’ve just received a confidential report, Long Yi abruptly left the Imperial City of the White Dragon Empire overnight, with his destination unknown."

"Doesn’t Long Yi wander around every day?" Tilian said indifferently.

"Sir, our attack against the White Dragon Empire has just ended, and Long Yi left immediately. I think it’s highly possible that Long Yi would come to trouble us." the secret agent said.

Tilian pondered for a moment and sneered, "Given Long Yi’s personality, if he comes, he’d definitely want revenge! Since he wants to come, let him! If he slaughters civilians, we’d have even more undead warriors. If he dares to storm into my palace, then I’m really blessed. Regardless of what he comes to do, don’t even think about escaping easily!"

After the spy left, Tilian fell into deep thought.

How would Long Yi make his move if he were to?

The Black Dragon Empire remains a fairly isolated nation, and its Imperial City is even more so. However, this is not a completely isolated place. Merchants conduct business here, and caravans move in and out of the Imperial City daily. It would not be difficult for Long Yi to infiltrate. But if Long Yi were to come to the Imperial City, what would he be doing? Which location would he attack or destroy?

Would he come to assassinate Yake?

No way!

Yake has reached the pinnacle of power in the Human Realm and, through special procedures, can exert a force beyond this limit in a short time. Thus, he can overcome his opponents in extreme cases while resealing his power before reaching the world’s tolerance limit.

Long Yi is not foolish; he is well aware that a direct confrontation would certainly not be the best choice if he were to defeat Yake. So is he here to destroy the Empire’s facilities?

The Black Dragon Empire’s scientific research institution could be a target, and the laboratory should also be a target.

Thinking of this, Tilian smirked and called without lifting his head, "Come!"

Immediately, a messenger pushed the door open and walked in.

"Lord Tilian!"

"Send orders, effective immediately, implement a first-class control in the Imperial City, patrol teams should arrange for the densest reconnaissance!"

"Yes, Lord Tilian!"

The messenger left, and Tilian fell silent for a while before mumbling, "Since I know you are coming, I have to put on a show for you."

With an additional Ai Lin, Long Yi’s original plan would have to be completely altered.

However, fortunately, they have Suolin.

Suolin lived in the Black Dragon’s Imperial City for many years and was once the leader of the underworld in the Black Dragon Empire. She probably knows more about the Empire than many ordinary citizens of the Imperial City.

Therefore, based on the information provided by Suolin, Long Yi developed a detailed plan. In this plan, Blood Raven also played a significant role. After all, as one of the most cunning species in Hell, playing tricks and schemes are their strengths.

If there is one thing Long Yi is not proficient at, it would be disguises, but fortunately, Suolin is. As the leader of an assassination organization, Suolin has acquired a range of various skills, one of which is the art of disguise.

Of course, Suolin has never used this skill herself, but this time, she got to practice it on Long Yi’s face.

After leaving the Imperial City, Suolin spent two hours turning Long Yi into a burly man with a beer belly. Long Yi was thankful that the weather was quite cool; he would not have enjoyed the glue on his face in hotter weather.

Ai Lin, on the other hand, was disguised as Long Yi’s wife – a woman past her prime but still charming. Alli had to temporarily take off her beloved high-heeled boots and put on the flat soft shoes typical of the Black Dragon Empire.

Thanks to Suolin’s extensive knowledge of the Black Dragon Empire, the disguises of both Long Yi and Ai Lin were flawless. Anyone who saw them would be convinced that they were genuine residents of the Black Dragon Empire.

The only thing that could give them away was their accents.

Although both spoke the common language of the continent, the Black Dragon Empire’s speech was more clipped and often used a lot of accents, while the White Dragon Empire liked to elongate sounds, with many shifts in pitch within a sentence.

Fortunately, Suolin speaks in the Black Dragon Empire accent. Along the way, the two scholarly individuals, Long Yi and Ai Lin, learned to speak in the same manner. Unless one paid extra attention, it was not easy to notice the difference. Plus, Little Zi was there, and a simple mental suggestion was enough to hide this minor defect.

Long Yi and the others did not choose to fly. Instead, they entered the Green Dragon Empire by land first, followed by the Blue Dragon Empire. Then, they boarded a boat from an inland lake in the Blue Dragon Empire and reached a city by the lake in the Black Dragon Empire.

No one recognized Long Yi en route.

After all, there are plenty of people in this world who are over two meters tall. (To be continued. If you like this work, please vote or give a monthly pass at qidian.com. Your support is my biggest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
