Chapter 182: Chapter 143: Afraid of Ghosts? _3
"I thought you would slap that guard in anger and bellow, ’Are you all blind as bats! Can’t you recognize me, the Second Crown Prince!’ " Long Yi said, laughing.
"Do you think I’m one of those spoiled nobles from third-rate novels?" The Crown Prince replied with a grin.
"Initially, I didn’t believe such people existed, but having met many of them, I realized some nobles are even more contemptible than those in third-rate novels," Long Yi responded.
"Different strokes for different folks." The Crown Prince concluded.
As they entered the military camp, almost everyone they met was acquainted with Lei Zhen, who was warmly greeted. Long Yi observed that Lei Zhen’s fear seemed to be gradually diminishing since joining the camp. He silently acknowledged that Lei Zhen was indeed an excellent soldier, with hardly any faults except his fear of ghosts.
Truth be told, an audacious warrior is always preferred to a timid one.
Upon reaching the training ground, they saw two Dragon Knights fiercely engaged in aerial combat. Two Giant Dragons breathed Dragon Breath at each other while their Dragon Knights bombarded each other with bursts of Fighting Aura. The Giants Dragons had protective shields that occasionally sparked, creating a splendid spectacle.
Long Yi gazed upward, keenly observing. This was the first time he had witnessed a real Dragon Knight duel. Even though it aligned with his imagination, he knew the difference between envisaging a fight and experiencing one was significant.
Lei Zhen displayed no interest in the battle, but realizing Long Yi was engaged, he quickly surmised that though Long Yi was formidable, his dragons were still young. Long Yi hadn’t experienced aerial combat, hence his unfamiliarity with it.
"So, what do you think of the aerial combat skills of these real Dragon Knights?" Lei Zhen asked, a hint of pride in his voice.
"Well, they’re somewhat less competent than I imagined," Long Yi replied.
"Ha, Long Yi, I acknowledge your prowess in ground combat, but aerial combat is a whole different ball game. Why not be modest for once?" Lei Zhen challenged, unable to hide his irritation. He respected Long Yi’s abilities but believed that one who hadn’t experienced the vast difference between sky and ground combat could never comprehend it.
"Why should I falsely feign humility? Observe that little Dragon’s movements. Here, watch closely. It will flap its left wing twice, then it’ll roll, the Dragon Knight will swing his sword and it will be blocked by the opponent. Now watch it open its mouth to breathe fire....and there you see, it is dodged by the opponent. It’s a spoon cloud! Predicting its next move would compliment it, considering I’ve never witnessed such a battle before."
Lei Zhen’s eyes widened with surprise as he watched the aerial duel. The smaller Dragon’s movements were in exact sync with Long Yi’s predictions. Had he not been there with him, he would’ve believed Long Yi was in cahoots with the Dragon Knights and was being deceived!
"How did you figure that out?" Lei Zhen asked, approaching Long Yi. However, the sight of Little Zi made him retreat two steps back. This time, Little Zi tactfully hid behind Ai Lin. As a maid, she knew she couldn’t disturb her master during important matters.
"It’s easy because the Dragon has fallen into the opponent’s rhythm. All its moves are constantly under the opponent’s pressure and are the best possible combative techniques it can execute," Long Yi explained.
"Just by a single glance, you concluded all this?" Lei Zhen was astounded.
"No, it wasn’t just a glance. I also engaged in detailed reasoning," Long Yi corrected.
Aerial combat was Long Yi’s forte. He possessed talent far beyond anyone else’s. In the past, he could discern an opponent’s combat intentions just by observing the slight tremors of their wingtips.
You must understand, that was a war that often occurred with speeds nearing the sound barrier! In comparison, Dragon Combat was slow!
If initially Lei Zhen thought Long Yi was merely capable, now he genuinely recognized him as talented and skilled. Though Lei Zhen also noticed the Dragon’s predicament and foresaw its actions, he would require some time for analysis. However, Long Yi’s instantaneous comprehension revealed whose skills far superseded the other’s.
"So, according to you, how can the Dragon Knight riding the small dragon win?"
A sudden voice from behind them asked.
They all turned around to find a one-eyed giant man standing there. He had a one-eyed Flying Dragon perched on his shoulder, and Two guards stood behind him.
"Good day, Captain Sweel!" Lei Zhen stood erect and saluted. This man was the man in charge of the military camp, Captain Sweel.
"Ah, The Second Crown Prince!" Captain Sweel returned the salute.
"Please, no formalities." The Crown Prince replied with a smile.
"So, can you tell me, what can the Dragon Knight do to win?" Captain Sweel returned to the initial question.
"If it were up to me, I could win in several ways. But considering the current Knight’s situation..." Long Yi paused before continuing, "Never mind, it’s only training. Losing is not a catastrophe," he said, suddenly laughing.
"And if this wasn’t a training?" Captain Sweel was unsatisfied with the response.
"If this wasn’t a training, he could sacrifice his arm for the enemy Dragon Knight’s life, or give up his life for the enemy Dragon’s. In a real battlefield, he should flee right away. His Dragon is faster and should just run away immediately."
"Run away? Haha, that’s not very honourable," Captain Sweel sneered.
"Being alive to celebrate victory is honourable. Dead men become fodder for maggots," Long Yi retorted.
"Makes sense," The sneer on Captain Sweel’s face morphed into a sincere smile. "I like you."
"I already have a girlfriend," said Long Yi.
"..."
Initially, Captain Sweel didn’t comprehend. When realization dawned upon him, he managed only a helpless smile. This man truly was unbendable. (To be continued.
