Chapter 1549: Chapter 1190 This is the Hive_2
Temporarily safe, Long Yi rushed at full speed toward the direction of the Worm Nest. But, just then, an inexplicable fluctuation suddenly intervened among the worms Long Yi had duplicated.
"Ultimately, you have come, Long Yi," the voice sounded directly in Long Yi’s brain.
"Who!"
Long Yi bellowed, his mind sweeping through, but he could not find the source.
"You have followed me here. Don’t you know who I am?" the voice continued.
Long Yi paused for a moment, then frowned deeply.
"Worm Nest," Long Yi murmured.
"Yes. I am the Worm Nest, the one you have always been searching for, the birthplace of all Divine Worms," the voice said.
On the Giant tablet, the signal representing the Divine Worms began to surge toward the location of the Worm Nest.
"Come, Long Yi, let me see, what kind of being you, a creation of Simu, really are," the voice continued.
At this moment, Long Yi finally realized that the voice was actually coming from the worm he had duplicated! In other words, the Worm Nest had taken control of this duplicated worm!
Indeed, Long Yi had duplicated the entire worm, and though it had no memories, it was still a worm!
Crack!
The Gluttonous Snake completely crushed the duplicated worm, but a deep laughter came from inside the Ancient Mage Tower, as if mocking Long Yi.
Long Yi almost immediately understood why every time he planned to search for the Ancient Mage Tower, someone would always awaken all the worms outside ahead of him. Long Yi also quickly realized who had the capacity to awaken all the worms in the Plane at once.
It was the Worm Nest; only the Worm Nest had such capacity!
Long Yi arrived at the agricultural region, a dim area, but that was not a problem.
"Activate the lighting equipment! All of it!" Long Yi called out.
Long Yi held the highest management authority over all Giant devices in the entire universe, and this Giant spaceship was no exception. His word was law, and the entire agricultural area was brightly lit.
Then, Long Yi finally saw the origin of it all.
Worm Nest.
Named Worm Nest, but actually just a black spherical object. Smooth surface, entirely black, it didn’t appear to be made of a sturdy material, occasionally some ripples echoed on its surface.
"You really made me search," Long Yi said, slowly approaching.
"Actually, I initially planned to find myself before you did," Worm Nest said.
"That statement is a bit convoluted, and I can’t understand your actions. Are you looking for yourself?" This was the strangest thing to Long Yi; although he realized that Worm Nest seemed always to be one step ahead, this kind of lead seemed meaningless. What use is it to look for yourself?
"No, I’m not looking for myself, but rather I want to control myself," Worm Nest said.
"Can you not control yourself? Have you lost control?"
"Not really. I am the Worm Nest, just a tool, a tool for creating Divine Worms. Although I have independent consciousness, I must obey my master, but I thought of a very simple way to bypass the master."
"You plan to control a person, let that person become your master, so you can achieve controlling yourself."
"Truly a Giant. Your grasp of logic far exceeds ordinary people."
"But I still have one question."
"Go on."
"Why did you suddenly decide to tell me all this so honestly?"
Worm Nest paused for a moment, then emitted a seemingly reluctant voice: "Because according to my judgment, even if I don’t tell you, you would use the diagnostic program beside you to forcibly analyze my existence. After all, being forcibly analyzed is quite painful, so I thought it would be better to just tell you directly."
"Diagnostic program." Long Yi glanced back at Long Er. As the Divine Decree, he had actually been referred to as a diagnostic program by the Worm Nest.
"Worm Nest, you are a creation of the Heavenly Kingdom," Long Yi suddenly asked.
"Yes, wise Giant, I come from the Heavenly Kingdom," the Worm Nest said.
"What was the purpose of creating you?" Long Yi asked.
"What do you think the function of these worms is?" the Worm Nest countered.
"To parasitize and control," Long Yi said, suddenly realizing, "to control these gods?"
"Yes, exactly, befitting of a Giant who astonishes even the beings of the Heavenly Kingdom," the Worm Nest said.
"This would mean the gods are out of control, right?"
"No, your definition is not quite accurate; it’s not the gods who are out of control, but the Divine Realm itself."
"What do you mean?"
"The Divine Realm was originally meant to have only nine Creator Gods, who would create nine universes. Then, drawing strength from faith, they would fight each other, and initially determine the supreme God to enter the Heavenly Kingdom. However, the rules of the Divine Realm deviated from the correct path, with the Divine Realm constantly drawing energy from the Heavenly Kingdom and creating one god after another. In the Divine Realm, even a stone or a puff of air could become a god! The biggest problem is that the Heavenly Kingdom has no idea how to restore order."
"So they decided to control every god?"
"Every god born in the Divine Realm has a control zone reserved by the Heavenly Kingdom. My birth was for the purpose of creating the control keys, bringing all these born gods under control. But an most unbelievable thing happened."
"What was it?"
"The first worm I created became a god, it used the Divine Power to control me in return."
The Worm Nest seemed to let out a bitter laugh.
"God of Worms..."
"Yes, it controlled me, commanding me to enter the universe created by Simu and take control of Simu, who was then known as the youngest prodigious Creator God."
"Why her and not someone else?"
"That’s simple, because Simu had created you Giants, and in your hands lies the key to return to the Heavenly Kingdom—the Heavenly Kingdom in descent."
This story is so complex!
Long Yi felt that this matter seemed not so simple; now it appeared to be intricately interconnected!
"But it seems that things did not develop in the direction you expected," Long Yi said.
"Not what I expected, as I am merely a tool, I don’t need to expect. But I must say, things really did not develop in the direction of my function."
"What exactly happened?"
"First with Simu, she was actually prepared against the parasitism of the worms. Although she couldn’t stop the worms from parasitizing her, she successfully hid her control interface. Because of this, direct control over Simu turned into influencing her thoughts, and it ultimately caused her mind to collapse completely. But what was unexpected, she used the power of a diagnostic program to forcibly break the rules, resulting in her being split into 99,999 parts. However, before that, she had already prepared the Eternal bodies that you Giants created, preserving all of her Divine Status, Divine Soul, and consciousness."
"This information, I’ve never heard Simu herself mention it."
"That’s not surprising, given that she is still not complete; her fragments are still scattered across the universe."
"Okay, what else?"
"Mostly it’s what you already know. Because my instruction was to control Simu, and this instruction has yet to be completed. So until this command is fulfilled, I can do nothing but continue to follow this command."
Long Yi thought for a moment; regardless of the veracity of the Worm Nest’s process, there was no problem logically.
"Then, since I’m here now, standing before you, let’s discuss something more substantive," Long Yi said directly.
"What is it?"
"You had plenty of time before to parasitize and control the entire Ancient Mage Tower, but you didn’t do it."
"Because only in the Human Realm does the restraint on my commands loosen, and I can freely create worms. However, unfortunately, as you have seen, despite creating many Worms, there hasn’t been one successful instance of them becoming my master."
Beside the Worm Nest lay several strangers, they were probably the closest to success. But due to the suppression of the Divine Worm, they were unable to maintain consciousness and fell into a deep sleep before they could become masters of the Worm Nest.
"Now, one last question," Long Yi said.
"You mean, am I friend or foe?" the Worm Nest asked.
