Chapter 152: Origin of Contradiction [Fourth watch of the night]

But is it the time to leave now?

"Mr. Long Yi, Silver Dragon once mentioned that you possess a set of precise metalworking skills, is that true?" Christa asked hurriedly, sensing that Long Yi was about to leave.

"Essentially, yes. The process involves manufacturing precise machinery to create even more precise machinery, achieving high precision in metalworking. I have indeed created such machinery, although due to material limitations, their precision isn’t perfect. But I believe it is significantly better than the current manual craftsmanship of the elves," Long Yi explained.

"That’s wonderful! Would you be able to lend this machinery to the elves?" Christa asked excitedly.

"That wouldn’t be an issue, but the dwarves have already taken them," Long Yi responded with a sense of regret.

"Ah? The dwarves?" Christa’s expression dimmed.

"Speaking of which, what exactly is the reason for this mutual dislike between elves and dwarves?" Long Yi asked curiously. From Golden Hammer’s tone, it seemed that the elves and the dwarves were mortal enemies.

"You are mistaken, your Excellency. It’s not that we can’t stand each other, it’s the dwarves who can’t stand us elves," Christa clarified, sounding wronged.

Apparently, a few thousand years ago, the relationship between dwarves and elves was not so strained. They represented two different directions in metalworking; one was rough, durable, and high-quality, while the other was delicate, meticulously carved, and skillfully crafted.

Eventually, the leaders of the two races realized that combining their respective strengths would yield a greater outcome. Thus, the two wise leaders decided to conduct a cross-species technical exchange.

The result of this exchange led the two races to part ways, refusing to have anything to do with each other ever again.

On the one side, stoic elves; on the other, temperamental dwarves. It was said that they talked for three days and also fought for three days, and in the end, they parted on bad terms.

The conversation at that time typically followed this pattern:

"Come! Try our dwarven dark beer!"

"Refusing."

"If you don’t drink it, you’re disrespecting us dwarves!"

"Refusing."

"Damn it! Considering our relationship, are you really going to disrespect me?"

"Refusing."

"You bastard, you dare disrespect me! I’ll fight you!"

"Come."

When it came to fighting strength, the dwarves were no match for the elves. After losing fights over such nonsensical reasons three days in a row, the dwarves realized that the elves represented an irrational group of creatures with whom they couldn’t communicate in a usual manner.

Despite their dubious victory in three consecutive fights, the elves also recognized that the dwarves were strange creatures with whom they couldn’t communicate in a normal fashion either.

Thus, the conflict arose.

But in most instances, it was the dwarves that triggered the disputes. Even today, it’s mostly the dwarves who continue to harbor hostility. For the elves, these disputes are insignificant. In fact, even if the dwarves were to approach the elves again for a collaborative technical research project, the elves would still maintain the same attitude towards them.

"That’s a problem. Those machines, which are products of my progress from childhood to now, aren’t easy to recreate. I can draw the blueprints for you to build the machines yourself. But this process is unavoidable," Long Yi stated.

"Blueprints will work! We elves have plenty of time!" Compared to dealing with the dwarves, Christa decisively chose to build the machines herself according to the blueprints, even though it would be much more time-consuming. She may claim to have the same attitude towards the dwarves, but she still seems to think that the dwarves are odd.

In reality though, both of your races are pretty strange. But the elves might be even stranger.

This was Long Yi’s inner thought, but he dared not express it.

During the afternoon Long Yi spent here, he visited the Elf Kingdom and even taken a tour of the Elf Workshop. A group of expressionless maiden elves worked intently in the spacious, garden-like workshop, crafting each elf weapon carefully. To Long Yi’s eyes, those so-called weapons were clearly bags of sparkling gold coins!

Long Yi also saw how these elves processed screws.

They actually used sharp saw blades to slowly carve grooves into the steel columns!

That was just too incredible!

After agreeing with Christa on the delivery time of the blueprints, Long Yi returned to Shining Silver through the teleportation gate. Before leaving, Christa gifted Long Yi a silver ornament, a miniature version of his own plane.

"This is an ornament of the Silver Dragon, with it, you will be treated as an Elf in any Elf shop." The Elf Empress Christa explained.

Long Yi simply nodded, but he was taken aback inwardly. Because this was similar to telling someone, "Come, wear this, and we will treat you as a human."

Elves are proud, a pride that does not need to be deliberately demonstrated, but inherent in their nature. Elves have always considered themselves superior to humans, on par with the Dragon Clan. If it came down to strength, an elf would absolutely be no match for a member of the Dragon Clan. However, when it comes to the level of civilization, elves insist that they are far superior to the Dragon Clan.

Of course, the reasons why elves hold such a view can’t be delved into.

When Long Yi returned to ’Shining Silver’ through the teleportation gate, the pendant appearing on his chest elicited a noticeably respectful reaction from the two elves despite their unchanged expressions.

Alas, it’s a pity that my lifelong reputation, Long Yi, is solely dependent upon his fighter plane to gain a bit of respect amongst these elves. How did that fighter plane turn into a Silver Dragon? How could it talk?

Right! The elves always referred to the Silver Dragon as ’she’. Given the elves’ rigidity, they would never use the wrong pronouns. Could it be due to the voice alarm in the plane cockpit?

This Silver Dragon matter was too mysterious; Long Yi found himself overwhelmed. However, having already made contact with the elves, if the so-called Silver Dragon appears in the future, he would understand what had happened. There is no use racking his brains about it now.

With a few days left before New Year’s Eve, Long Yi was living here. Naturally, Ais would not let the opportunity pass. Virtually every time Long Yi was free, Ais would drag him into a fight. Ais himself was extremely talented and resolute.. despite being a year younger than Long Yi, he could push Long Yi to his limits when he played seriously.

Of course, this was only if Long Yi pitched his fighting aura at the same level as Ais’s.

Since meeting Long Yi, Ais felt he had finally met his match. Ais had always thought that there was nobody amongst his peers who could challenge him, but Long Yi’s appearance finally made him realize that there was always someone better. However, Ais didn’t feel jealous of Long Yi’s power; on the contrary, he used Long Yi as his goal and trained harder every day.

But what surprised Long Yi more was Ais. He clearly knew about his own advantages, being a giant and having lived two lives, you could say that he was full of cheats. And this boy could just rely on talent to reach this level, it was indeed a cause for envy!

However, compared to his sister Ai Lin, Ais still fell short.

Little Ai Lin had only gone out for a while and returned with an astonishing fifteen layers of mana, this was the real genius as if a monster! Although she is now half-dragon, it only improves her physique and the smoothness of magic flow, it does not help her advance. Ultimately, advancement depends on her own abilities.

The fact is, Ai Lin was too strong.

If Ai Lin’s crystal core was counted, she could easily claim the top spot. However, Long Yi did not care about these things. Ai Lin felt that she was dragging Long Yi down, so while Long Yi and Ais were having their friendly battles, she didn’t idle around and trained diligently using Long Yi and Ais as her opponents.

Speaking of his little sister, Ais could not help but feel proud. In Ais’s memory, Ai Lin was incredibly gifted since she was young. If it hadn’t been for the incident that happened later, Ai Lin might have already owned a Dragon Mark by now. There are very few people in this world who can acquire a Dragon Mark before the age of sixteen.

As for Long Yi, Ais was familiar with him. On the day Ai Lin entered school, Ais had been secretly keeping an eye on Long Yi. He was worried that this big fellow would do something that would harm his sister.

But the development of events far exceeded Ais’s expectations.

Starting from the first day when Long Yi stood up for Ai Lin, followed by his dominance in the first year, challenging the second year, involving Ai Lin in the process. Until in the end, when Long Yi helped Ai Lin regain her strength and even become a stronger magic fighter, every step he took exuded a sense of peculiarity.

He seemed to help Ai Lin without any motive, never taking advantage of Ai Lin, although he was not aware that Long Yi had already seen and touched her, albeit accidentally. Moreover, the legendary youngest White Dragon Knight, Elsa, was his girlfriend!

Long Yi was truly an enigmatic fellow. It appeared that he lacked something, yet he seemed to lack nothing. There were rumors that he had a good relationship with the dwarves, and Ais had personally seen the Black Iron badge of the Dwarves hanging around Long Yi’s waist. Although he didn’t know what it was for, the dwarves were not the type to give out gifts casually.

And then he had just arrived in the Imperial City a few days ago, and Long Yi ran off to Shining Silver. After he came out, there was a strange pendant hanging around his neck. And judging from the guards who were secretly protecting Ai Lin, after they entered, the elves drove all the customers out, and Long Yi and Ai Lin spent an entire afternoon in Shining Silver!

Who on earth was this Long Yi? How could he, with the status of a blacksmith, stir up so many incidents?

Ais asked Long Yi again, sternly, about his goal, and Long Yi’s answer was quite thought-provoking.

At that time, Long Yi answered Ais with a never-seen-before expression: "To dominate the sky." (To be continued.
